Downtown Fun In Trenton R-T Photos/Diane Lowrey and Ronda Lickteig

It was a busy Friday in downtown Trenton as the Five Points Alive Group of the Trenton Downtown Improvement Association held its first-ever Chalk on the Walk art event. Youth, teens and adults used water soluble chalk to create artwork on sidewalks along Main Street. Monetary prizes were given to the top two winners in each age group. The youth winners were Alyssa Bunnell, first, “Hummingbird”; and Alexandria Anderson Ely, second, “Rainbow,” above at right. Teen winners were Taylor Richman, first, “Up”; and Cole Soptic, second, “Downtown Trenton 5 Points.” The adult winners were Sheridan Mounce, first, “Trenton Icons”; and Ashlen Busick, second, “Tiles.” The judge’s choice went to Rita Hamilton, above at far left, for her entry, “Bluebird.” The drawings drew many spectators throughout the day and into the evening when members of the Trenton High School Band, pictured below, at left, performed a concert as part of an ice cream social fundraiser held in Sesquicentennial Park. The band played several selections to a large crowd that gathered to take in the evening activities. Ethan Stewart is the THS Band Director.
