FIRE DEPARTMENT Review Conducted
City ISO Rating Improves The Trenton Fire Department has announced that the city’s ISO (Insurance Services Office) rating has improved from a 5 to 3/3Y, placing the TFD among the top 15 percent of departments nationwide. Fire Chief Brandon Gibler said Trenton recently underwent a review conducted by the ISO to update the city’s public protection classification, including a complete analysis of Trenton’s structural fire suppression delivery system. In the last review conducted in 2014, Trenton maintained a 5 rating. The new classification of 3/3Y represents a significant improvement, according to Gibler. The new rating goes into effect on Aug. 1 and can result in lower insurance premiums for homeowners and commercial business owners. The improved rating also serves to attract new development and businesses to Trenton. Reductions are dependent on several variables, Gibler said, and will vary by insurance company. Property owners should contact their insurance providers to inquire if their premiums will be impacted by the new classification rating. Gibler said the improved ISO rating is largely the result of the following: • improved automatic aid/partnership with the See ISO, Page 7
