In an effort to get the architectural firm that best suits the needs of the Trenton R-9 School District as it moves forward with a potential building project, the board of education has set up a committee to pare down a list of requests for proposals before the board makes its final decision. The district has received nine proposals to provide architectural services for a project under consideration by the board. Because of the large number of proposals, Superintendent Dan Wiebers requested, and the board agreed, to have two members of the board, along with other school staff, review the proposals and narrow the list to three for the board to consider. with staff on Thursday, with the full board holding a special meeting next week to make a final decision. At a meeting in September, board members agreed to seek architectural proposals as they consider whether or not to move forward with a project that would include construction of a performing arts center as well as enclosing the walking area between the high school/middle school complex and band room. Renovations to the high school/middle school media center and C.F. Russell Stadium would also be included. With bond payments for the middle school construction coming to an end next year, the 90-cent levy now being used for those payments would become available

for the district to use for other projects. Wiebers said that if voters were to agree to continue assessing the levy, the district would have around $7 million in bonding capacity available that could be used for the proposed project. That would mean the project could be done with no increase to the existing levy. A four-sevenths majority vote would be needed for the levy to be continued. The board approved several MSBA policy updates regarding virtual courses being made available to students through legislation approved by the Missouri Legislature. The Missouri Course Access Program gives students the option to take online courses that may
