Briefs... Park Board The Trenton Park Board will meet in regular session at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday at city hall. Items on the announced agenda include discussion of security cameras and reports from the superintendent and the pool, grounds and facilities committees.
Bright Futures Training Bright Futures Trenton will be offering two training sessions for persons interested in volunteering as a Bright Futures mentor in the Trenton R-9 School District. Superintendent Dan Wiebers will provide the training at 7 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 12 and at 5 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 16, both in the THS Media Center. Those interested in volunteering need only attend one session. The Bright Futures Volunteer Policy requires a background check, training by district administration and watching the district training video, all of which can be accomplished by attending one of the trainings. There is a small fee for the background check. Volunteers may pay the fee or request that it be paid from Bright Futures funds. All-District Band The Trenton High School and Trenton Middle School bands had several members earn seats in the Northwest Missouri All-District Band during auditions on Saturday in St. Joseph. Named to the high school honor band were Mari Atup, 11th chair flute; and Amanda Parrack, second chair tenor saxophone. Named to the high school concert band were Mackenzie Klinginsmith, third chair clarinet; and Brice Gibler, fourth chair percussion option 1 (snare emphasis). Selected to the middle school band were Conner Campbell, first chair clarinet; Serenity Marsh, seventh chair clarinet; Brett Kennedy, 16th chair clarinet; Shyla Chapman, 19th chair clarinet; Trent Villacampa, fourth chair trumpet; Victor Markell, second chair trombone; Nicholas Smith, second chair baritone horn; Cayden Spears, first alternate tuba; Lydia Leininger, first chair percussion; and Tucker Otto, sixth chair percussion.
Modine Manufacturing celebrate its 50th year in Trenton with an open house and tours on Saturday morning. David Mihalovich, pictured at right, was among employees conducting the tours, which allowed members of the public to view operations at the plant. Modine Plant Controller Kimby Mengel said between 500 and 550 persons attended the activities, which included a ribbon cutting/years of business presentation by the Trenton Area Chamber of Commerce.

Animal Licenses For Sale The Trenton Police Department has announced that animal licenses for 2019 are now available at city hall. All animals in the city are required to have an annual license purchased for them. Animal owners must have a certificate from a duly licensed veterinarian that the animal has been inoculated for rabies and pay a fee of $5 per animal to the city clerk. Failure to purchase and keep the animal license secured upon or about the body of the animal could result in fines and court costs for the owner. First Quarter
Trenton Students Of Quarter Named Trenton High School has announced its Students of the Quarter for the first quarter. Students are selected by members of the faculty based on citizenship, leadership, school and community participation and academics. Students can receive the honor only once during their high school career. The senior honoree is Max McNabb, son of Dale McNabb and Julie and Jimmy Trimble. He participates in basketball and golf and is a member of Future Business Leaders of America, where he serves as historian.
McKenna Cox is the junior recipient. The daughter of Heather Evans and Dustin Cox, she is a cheerleader and a member of FFA, FCCLA, FBLA and the National Honor Society. Outside of school, she attends the Lifepoint Church. Chosen for the sophomore honor is Kael Brock, the son of Kenneth Brock. He participates on the football, basketball and baseball teams and is a member of FFA and the Golden Bulldog Marching Band. The freshman recipient is Morgan King, daughter of Melissa and Matt King. The high on Thursday at Trenton was 59, Friday’s high was 53, Saturday’s high was 57 and Sunday’s high was 48, the low was 39. A total of one-half inch of rain fell during that time period. Sunday’s high at the Government Weather Station near Spickard was 46, the low was 38 and .02 of an inch of rain was recorded..

The 14th annual High School Holiday Hoops will tip off in just a few weeks on the campus of North Central Missouri College in Trenton. Sponsored by the NCMC Foundation, this year’s edition of Holiday Hoops will feature 115 teams representing 63 Missouri and Iowa high schools. With all games played at the Ketcham Community Center, games begin on Friday night, Dec. 14 and conclude on New Year’s Eve, Monday, Dec. 31. Teams this year come from throughout Missouri as well as representing metropolitan Kansas City, St. Louis and Des Moines, IA. According to Hoops Director Steve Maxey, this year’s schools range in size from 1A to 5A in Missouri and from 1A to 4A for the four Iowa schools. As in the past, hundreds of volunteers will be needed to assist the 15 member steering committee in hosting what is considered the largest high school holiday basketball shootout in Missouri. Persons interested in volunteering should contact Maxey or the foundation office on the NCMC campus. Positions for volunteers include team hosts, individuals to operate the official clock or serve as scorekeepers, front desk volunteers and individuals to assist with sales and hospitality.
