R-6 Board To Meet

The Pleasant View R-6 Board of Education will meet tonight (Tuesday, Aug. 14) at the school. The tax rate levy hearing will be held at 7 p.m., with the regular board meeting to follow. Items on the agenda include official approval of the tax levy, discussion of building projects, approval of the Annual Secretary of the Board Report, approval of bus routes, approval of free and reduced meal guidelines, the 403B compliance plan, discussion of value of contents for insurance purposes, the TVI (vision) contract, MSBA policy updates and the superintendent’s report. There will also be a time for public and employee comments prior to business being transacted.

Coffee With A Cop

The Trenton Police Department will hold a “Coffee with a Cop” on Wednesday, Aug. 15 at Hardee’s. The event will be held from 7 to 9 a.m. and offers an opportunity for citizens of the community to meet and visit with members of the police department. Those attending are encouraged to ask questions about the department, special programs or law enforcement in general.

Local Pool To Close

The Trenton Family Aquatic Center will officially close for the season on Sunday, Aug. 19. Pool hours for the week will be from 1 to 6 p.m.

Health Department Closure

The Grundy County Health Department will be closed on Monday morning, Aug. 20. Staff will be performing an offsite health fair. The office will re-open at 1 p.m.

Tuition Rate Set

AREA SCHOOL BOARDS The Tri-County R-7 Board of Education took action on several matters during its regular monthly board meeting on Wednesday night, Aug. 8. According to information provided by Superintendent David Probasco, the board set

‘Hometown Heritage’ Is 2018 Parade Theme

The Trenton Rotary Club is encouraging organizations, businesses, churches and individuals to help celebrate the importance of the community’s local history, historic individuals and cultural traditions as they plan their entries in the Oct. 20 festival parade. The Trenton Rotary Club Parade Committee includes Steve Taylor, Savannah Summers, Debbie Carman, Bob Overton, Kim Washburn, Phil Hoffman, Gary Jordan, Gary Black and Brian Upton. They will head up the parade this year with the assistance of nearly 20 other Rotarians as

The Trenton City Council, once a month, receives information in its packet concerning the monthly sales tax and capital project sales tax, along with a comparison of funds received a year ago. Information from the park sales tax is also received. The Republican-Times will carry this information along with the council meeting story when made available.

As in the past, many high school marching bands will join in the parade as part of the Missouri Day Marching Band Festival - all highlighting the three-day festival. Temperatures will be a little more comfortable this week with a chance of rain on Wednesday. Highs will be in the upper 80s, with lows in the middle 60s. The high on Thursday and Friday was 97, Saturday’s high was 92 and Sunday’s high was 93, the low was 68. The high on Sunday at the Government Weather Station near Spickard was 90, the low was 67.
