2019 NCM Fair Comes To An End
TIF, ED Committees To Meet
The Tax Increment Financing Commission and Economic Development Committee of the Trenton City Council will meet tonight (Tuesday) at city hall. The TIF Commission will meet at 6 o’clock. Items on that agenda include selection of a chairman, vice chairman, treasurer and secretary; discussion of duties; and discussion of future projects. The Economic Development Committee is set to meet at 7 o’clock. Items on the announced agenda include reports from Trenton Downtown Improvement Association/Main Street Trenton Director Megan Derry and North Central Missouri Development Association Director Micah Landes.

The North Central Missouri Fair grandstand was busy with several events held throughout the week. Tuff Truck competition, pictured above, at left, was held on Saturday night while the ATV and dirt bike events, pictured at right, were held on Friday night. The Thursday night event featured five area teams in the Super Team Farmer competition, which was moved to the soccer field west of the grandstand due to the weather. Among the participants, pictured above, at right, was Taylor Richman, who was a member of the “Making Farming Great Again” team that captured first place. Other team members were Sydney Lynch, Whitley Richman and Hunter Beverlin.

Judging Highlights Week-Long Event The weather was “fair perfect” for the North Central Missouri Fair, which ended on Saturday after a week of livestock judging, Rock Barn exhibits and grandstand shows. Beef Show There were 60 head of beef judged in Saturday’s beef show at the North Central Missouri Fair. The grand champion female was an Angus, exhibited by Jenna Reeter of Trenton. Clayton Walker of Chillicothe had the reserve champion female, a Foundation Semental. The third-, fourth- and fifth-place female entries were also recognized and belonged to Jenna Reeter, an Angus, third; Allison Coats of Richmond, a Simmental, fourth; and Nick Rhodes of Brookfield, a Maine Anjou, fifth. The grand champion bull belonged to Gage Swindler of Braymer. Cayden Bowe of Laredo showed the reserve champion bull. The supreme champion market animal was a Chianina, shown by Dalton Hoover of Tina-Avalon. The reserve champion was a crossbred, exhibited by Shane Leakey of Richmond. The champion home-raised steer was shown by Megan Cox of Gallatin. Showmanship honors went to Dalton Hoover, 15 and over; Aubrie Burton of Chillicothe, 11 to 14; and Kimber Woodworth of Chillicothe, 8 to 10. Horse Show The horse show had a delayed start on Saturday, but drew a good crowd of area participants. High point winners were named at the conclusion of the show and included Presleigh Stockwell, who took the top prize in the 8 years and under category; Allee Prescott, who was the top point-getter in the 9 to 12 years division; and Cheyanne Blanchard, who was the overall points winner in the 13

Dream Factory Fundraiser
A fundraiser to benefit the Dream Factory of Northwest Missouri is under way locally, culminating with a special event on Saturday, Aug. 17 at Hy-Vee. Local Dream Factory coordinator Ron Dougan said tickets are currently being sold to win a cooler autographed by Kansas City Royals catcher Salvador Perez. Tickets are $5 each or five for $20 and can be purchased by contacting Dougan at 359-0100. The tickets will also be available during events being held on Aug. 17 in the Hy-Vee parking lot, beginning at 10 a.m. Tenderloins will be offered for sale and there will also be a silent auction. Former Royals pitcher Dennis Leonard, a member of the 1985 Kansas City World Series team, will be at the event from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. to sign autographs.

Cub Scout Pack 23 is hosting a Cub Scout Roundup on Sunday, Aug. 11 from 2 to 3 p.m. at the First Christian Church in Trenton. All returning Cub Scouts and youth who want to join the pack are invited to attend with their parents. The registration fee per cub scout will be $35 for the year. Cub Packmaster Dustin Todd and den leaders will be on hand to answer questions and get scouts registered for the 2019-2020 year.
