Library meal service doubles weekly; reopening unfolds slowly ...but surely The “Dragon-tale”-gate is entering its fourth week of service and growing by leaps and bounds, doubling weekly, at the Daviess County Library. These meals are prepared in a central kitchen location then transported to the five corners of the county — Gallatin, Jameson/ Coffey, Pattonsburg, Winston, and Altamont. School-aged children or their parents may meet the library van at any of these locations and pick up a lunchbox and summer reading activity packet. If any family should want more than one day’s meal, they need only call the library and request such. Reopen staging policy was reviewed at the regular board meeting last Thursday and Phase 3 was approved, allowing limited family visits, patron browsing in the stacks, and continued contactless curbside service for patrons not yet ready to enter the building. Books continue to be returned through the drop boxes for quarantine and masks are still required for entry to the building. Children are encouraged to register for the summer reading program and read for prizes. Programming remains virtual, but look for movies on the lawn on Wednesday afternoons beginning July 8. Phase 3 procedures will be reviewed and either renewed or upgraded on July 7. The library is opening slowly, but surely, and definitely with the staff and patrons best interest guiding the way. For more information about library hours or Phase 3 procedures or for the Summer Food Service Program Dragon-TALEgate, call the library 660-663-3222 or visit www.daviesscountylibrary.org.
