On Dec. 1, Cameron Wilson, 35, Gallatin, was sentenced to consecutive sentences of 15 years, 10 years, and 10 years, on three B felony counts of possession of child pornography. The consecutive sentencing amounts to a 35-year sentence. Wilson plead guilty Sept. 25 to the three charges. The case was heard by Thomas Chapman in Livingston County on a change of venue from Daviess County which occurred on Sept. 16, 2015. The 29 remaining counts will be dismissed based on a plea agreement. “Child pornography is a seri-

ous issue with long lasting repercussions to victims in this internet era,” said Daviess County Prosecutor Annie Gibson. “I strongly believe that justice has been served by this plea agreement. Many thanks to all of those who worked on this case, as well as the young man who reported this defendant to begin the investigation which led to these charges.” Wilson was charged on July 28, 2015, with 30 counts of possession of child pornography, one count of furnishing pornographic material to a minor, and one count of promoting child pornog-

raphy to a minor. Based on the probable cause statement, the charges originate from an incident at Gallatin Plaza Apartments in March 2015 when Wilson invited a 12-yearold into his apartment to look at his knife collection and presented pornographic material to the minor. The probable cause statement was prepared by the Gallatin Police Department. Initially, Wilson was charged with only two counts of pornography. However, after seized items at his apartment were examined by a regional computer forensics

for granted — until suddenly you’re without. That was the reminder to some households near Rest Easy Apartments Tuesday night when a water line ruptured on East Grand Street. City workers were on the scene from 1 to about 9 p.m. completing repairs while enduring increasing strong, gusting winds and dropping temperatures. The actual amount of treated water lost during the line break cannot be known although, obviously, it was significant.

Driver inhales air duster, crashes into car to face 2nd degree murder charge Shawn Michael Yuille, 23, was charged with second degree murder in Livingston County on Nov. 30. The charges stem from an accident that happened at Washington Street (Hwy. 65) and Calhoun Street in downtown Chillicothe at about 5 p.m. on Nov. 25. Yuille is formerly of Gallatin who now resides in Trenton. He currently is an inmate at the Daviess-DeKalb Regional Jail in Pattonsburg. His booking date was Nov. 30. According to a report by the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred as Danette Rardon, 39, Chillicothe, was driving a 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe westbound on Calhoun Street making a right turn onto Washington Street. Yuille was northbound on Washington Street, driving a 2004 Ford F-150. He failed to stop at a red light and struck the Rardon vehicle in the driver’s side.

Both vehicles skidded north on Washington Street for approximately 200 feet. Ms. Rardon’s vehicle ran off the right side of the roadway and struck a sign pole. The Yuille pickup ran off the right side of the roadway and came to rest facing east. Ms. Rardon was pronounced dead at the scene by Coroner Scott Lindley. Mr. Yuille received serious injuries and was taken by Chillicothe Ambulance to Hedrick Medical Center and then by lifeflight to St. Luke’s on the Plaza. Yuille’s five-year-old daugh-

ter, Izzabella, received moderate injuries and was taken by Chillicothe Ambulance to Hedrick Medical Center and then by Children’s Mercy Helicopter to Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City. An occupant in the Yuille vehicle, Jeremy Osburn, 22, Chillicothe, received minor injuries and refused treatment at the scene. Livingston County Prosecuting Attorney Adam Warren filed the charges Nov. 30, which allege that Yuille inhaled air duster twice while driving and had passed out behind the wheel several blocks prior to the point of impact. The report also states that Yuille’s vehicle was traveling at approximately 84 miles per hour in the 25 mile per hour zone when it ran the red light. According to a probable cause statement filed by Cpl. J. Gillliland with the Missouri State (continued on page 13)

Shopko donates $1,000 toward Christmas Shop for next year

Steps to Active Aging redesigned, easier to use The Active Aging Resource Center in Gallatin recently received a sidewalk upgrade. The upgrade was a goal of the center’s board of directors for this fiscal year. Lonnie Shrock of Jamesport did the work and he and his crew finished in just two days. During the construction, the center’s clients used an alternate

entrance in the alley. The center received a donation from the Mary Immaculate Catholic Church auction held earlier this year to fund the upgrades. The redesigned steps are lower and easier to navigate for the public. “We are very happy with the results,” said Deanna Lewis, Administrator.

Friends of Gallatin is the recipient of a $1,000 grant from Shopko Foundation’s Community Charitable Grant program. The funds will go toward gifts for next year’s Candy Cane Christmas Shop during Christmas Around the Square. Pictured are festival chairwomen of the 2017 Christmas Around the Square Judy Elbert, Cyd Terry, and Sally Black with Gallatin Shopko Store Manager Peggy Simmons.
