Committee Reports: Handbook Committee – No Report Finance Committee The Finance Committee met Thursday July 8, on ZOOM with 8 members present and President Tony Gronnniger also sitting in. In reviewing Financial Statements total income is down from this time last year because last year’s Financials included the one-time dredge assess-
ment, but aside from that all other income areas were up. Shad anticipates road expenses to go up in the following month with more work being done. Shad also reported purchase of a truck for $7,800. On other Capital Expenditures Marvin gave an update on an open item from last month’s agenda. Discussion of a security fence for the maintenance yard / burn pile was tabled but Marvin is still looking at alternatives to make that area more secure. I reported on the progress on outsourcing our Financials with Westbrook Accounting. One of the first thing ,Jill Steward, our publishing consultant, did was to contact Westbrook and arrange for them to included Lake Viking News invoicing in their services. Originally Marvin and I had a target date of August for Westbrook doing our payrolls but they were able to start doing payrolls this month. A support person from Westbrook will be on our property this Wednesday to do more work with importing files. Also, discussion was held on a document I produced that listed income vs expenses for the first two months of the Lake Viking News publishing operation. Marvin also informed the committee of his intent to go ahead with the purchase of the Gallatin Publishing desktop computer that comes completely loaded with all
of the publishing software previously used by GPC for the Lake Viking News. The $600 price is a considerable savings from what was anticipated. Finally, the Committee reviewed a document on the anticipated staff payroll for 2022. This document is in the early stages and will continue to be reviewed. Thanks to Missy Leggett on putting this together. Strategic Planning Committee Kenny Southwick gave an update of where the Strategic Plan was today. The Committee met on July 6 and reviewed the recommendations that were made to the Board back in November 2020. It started with a big resonant bang – somewhere on the lake, sometime before July 3. Then there was another, and another, and the Lake Viking Fourth of July holiday was off and running. As always, the lake became a very busy place, and there were plenty of activities to keep Association Members occupied and entertained. There were food trucks, free ice-cream, decorated boats, the water-stream provided by the volunteer fire-department, and family movie and a Kenny Chesney concert on successive nights at the Lake Viking Marine big-screen for viewing by boats on the water. There was the boat parade that Association Members are invited to watch at the Yacht Club every year, and, of course, tremendous fireworks displays put on by the Association from Beach One at 9:50 PM AND the fireworks extravaganza put on by the Confortis at Beach Two. Many other displays could be viewed all around the lake. These pictures show some of the highlights . . . .
