GPIC CELEBRATES RECEIVING HIS HIGHNESS THE PRIME MINISTER’S AWARD FOR EXCELLENCE IN INDUSTRY
U
nder the patronage of H.E. Shaikh Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa, Minister of Oil and GPIC Chairman, the Company recently held a major ceremony at the Gulf International Convention Centre on the occasion of receiving His Highness the Prime Minister’s Award for Excellence in Industry, for major companies. At the opening of the event, Dr. Mustafa Al Sayed, General Manager, said in a speech that the award marked the achievements made by GPIC in various fields. He expressed his gratitude and appreciation for the continuous support and backing received by the Company from His Majesty the King Shaikh Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, Prime Minister and His Highness Shaikh Salamn bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Commander-in-Chief of the Bahrain Defence Force.
He also praised the continuous support given to GPIC by the Shareholders from Kuwait represented by Petrochemical Industries Company an Saudi Arabia represented by Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC). He also thanked all the GPIC employees for their sincere efforts towards the Company’s growth and success that culminated in the outstanding results achieved through their co-operation and team spirit. He noted with satisfaction the employees’ high level of performance, compliance with the highest safety levels and protection of the environment and applying quality standards.
He added that given the spirit of hope and positive contributions within our constitutional monarchy, he is honoured to take pride in GPIC’s participation in this progress and development. The Company’s success in winning His Highness the Prime Minister’s Award for Excellence in Industry is considered a major achievement not only for GPIC but also for Bahrain industry in general.
He noted that it was encouraging that the Company’s success in winning this major award coincided with the Company’s 22nd anniversary and continuation of the high level of production efficiency in the three plants. Overall production of Ammonia, Methanol and Urea totaled more than 1,479 million metric tons or 8% more than the projected figure. Such products were marketed on the world markets, mainly the United States of America, South America, the Indian subcontinent and Japan.
He expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the pioneer of industrial progress, His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, the Prime Minister for his kind support and backing for industrial companies that are now strongly motivated for growth and development to diversify Bahrain’s sources of income.
He further said he was pleased to congratulate all the employees of GPIC for winning the prestigious International Sector Award for Petrochemical Industries from the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA), United Kingdom in 2001. cont. on page 9 &10
