About Gram

Gram is all about making sophisticated sneakers.

We create shoes that fill the gap between sneakers and traditional shoes.

Our roots lie in the Scandinavian design aesthetic; design with clean lines and attention to detail. Each model being unique in its own simplicity.

The brand is centered around the concept of weight, with each shoe being named after its weight in grams.

At Gram we love shoes, in particular shoes you can wear at the office as well as on a night out.

The brand started in 2005 and is based in Stockholm, Sweden.

A sober colour scheme of khaki, eggshell, sand and nude against accents of brick, washed navy and bleached red create the unique Gram look for spring/ summer 2012.

We never have and never will make shoes like everyone else. We celebrate craftsmanship and strong, personal looks. This season with precision hand lasting and punched hole patterns all done by hand.

Undyed vegetable tanned leathers, faded canvases and details like metal trims in raw brass are carefully selected for their inherent, natural beauty and their ability to allow a slow ageing and patina. Hand picked to heighten your feel of a collection not only made to stand the test of time but to register time itself. Ensuring that your Gram shoes will always be unique.

The godfather of all Gram styles, and also the first shoe ever to be conceived by Gram’s Head Designer Alexis Holm. Classic sneaker styling with a twist, as elements of dress shoe mix with new materials and alternative cuts.   Side stitched natural rubber cup sole ensures a snug fit and excellent grip on all surfaces.

This season the 383g comes in everything from black full grain leather and summery cotton canvases to washed linens, offering a wearable shoe for everyone.

The sleekest hi-top in the collection comes in the shape of the 420g from the Classics-line. Unmistakable attitude with unorthodox cuts and perfect balance.   One of the most popular Gram models ever developed is of course a sure element for SS12, with the triple combos at the very top of creativity and precision.

Since the 380g was conceived it has time and time again proven itself to be the ultimate casual dress shoe for metropolitan rebels. Embodying the essence of classic men’s footwear with its simple derby cut and pairing it with a sneaker like, light weight, dura-lite outsole and rubber heel for unrivalled comfort.

Using only carefully selected premium materials and genuine hand craft during the production process, every 380g is hand lasted by skilled artisans and matched pair by pair, for the ultimate dressed up comfort experience.

For S/S12 this LW classic is updated with a beautifully handpunched natural leather, washed linen and a fabric from our new collaboration with Swedish weavery Insjöns Väveri.

A natural progression of a hi-top from the familiar 380g in the Light Weight-line. The 398g offers a comfortable jodphur lace up hybrid with great detail, such as the Norwegian toe stitch. Resting on the same newly developed dura-lite outsole as the 380g with the same durable natural rubber heel.   The 398g in the S/S12 collection is a shoe boot that mixes classic with modern, pig nappa with linen. Anatomical insole, tempered steel shank and full leather lining.

The low top of the Heavy Weight-line, the 488g, is a charismatic mixture of several well-known classics; the derby, the hiker, the deck shoe & the work boot. The chrome and dark metal plated details giving these bad boys a rare look fitted for S/S12.   With a low slung and chunky silhouette it almost seems glued to the ground. Fully leather lined with anatomical foam rubber insole for unrivaled comfort and breathability. Heavy duty lacing hardware with rollers at the bottom and moulded hooks at the top, resting on an 18 mm, bottom stitched, pure rubber outsole with inverted lug pattern for serious grip.   These are rugged shoes with loads of personality and a clear favourite of the Head Designer himself.

By some claimed to be the quirkiest shoe ever conceived by Grams Head Designer Alexis Holm, the 497g hi-top. As part of the Heavy Weight-line it is clearly the alpha and the omega of heavy weights. A blend of materials and colours, the 497g has both functionality and comfort in mind. Calling upon boots from the factories of the early days of industrialization and for SS12 pairing it with hi-tech materials from the 21st century.   Fully leather lined with anatomical foam rubber insole for unrivaled comfort and breathability.

Gram’s Vulcanized-line, a fresh take on the oldest of sneaker constructions, is based around the idea of taking one of footwear’s most generic products and well known shapes and reengineering it to fit the modern Gram customer. The 352g is an action packed new take on a classic, with high quality materials, a fully dampened insole and full attention to detail.

This is a super comfortable, relaxed way to blend your wardrobe seamlessly with your footwear.

Collaboration Spring /summer 2012 — Insjöns Väveri

380g insjön navy runner

The pride of our s/s 2012 collection and an homage to Swedish handcraft is the shoe 380g insjön navy runner.

A classic 380g shape, fully leather lined and dura-lite outsole with natural rubber heel but with an upper in the fabric Anette woven by Insjöns Väveri.

Insjöns väveri is a small, family owned, Swedish weavery that’s been producing timeless fabrics and runners since 1947.Their products being of such high quality that they’ve been appointed Supplier of the Swedish Royal Court since 1978.

Relatively alone in the world, they still use old weaving machines from the 1930’s.

These beautiful old machines are a condition for being able to copy the several hundreds of years old patterns that they produce.

Anette is a relatively new pattern but a classic krypert weave. Originally a runner fabric - the horizontal stripes of the shoes having to do with the runner fabric being so narrow - it consists of extremely heavy-duty linen with long fibers, grown on the windy slopes of Mediterranean France and Egyptian cotton, known for its durable, high quality.

The mix of linen and cotton makes Anette about 11 times more durable than a fabric made from 100% cotton.
