It houses a great number of Byzantine icons, ranging mainly from the 12th to the 19th century, collected from churches and monasteries of the district of Pafos. These icons express the religious faith of the Pafians during the Byzantine era and inform present day visitors of the high artistic quality of those times. The oldest icon, that of the Virgin Eleousa, from the church of the Monastery of Agios Savvas tis Karonos, dates to about 1200 A.D. and is an exquisite example of Byzantine art.

This is where the first ancient (Mycenaean) Greeks settled, who emigrated to Cyprus at around 1200 BC after the fall of the Mycenaean Kingdoms in mainland Greece. It is a very important site for Cyprus because this is where Hellenism on the island originated. The little museum with its unusual architecture is the work of Andrea Bruno, Professor at the University of Turin and one of Europe’s greatest architects. The Museum depicts the colonisation of Cyprus by the Mycenaean Greeks.

The Cyprus Samaritans by Dr Vasilios Silivistris DipSup DipComp BA MA FRSH MBACP PhD

The Cyprus Samaritans celebrates twenty years in Cyprus this October 2017. The Cyprus Samaritans was established in 1997 and is affiliated to the international ‘Network of Befrienders Worldwide’ which operates in 38 countries over 6 continents. The Cyprus Samaritans operate an emotional support telephone centre, manned by well-trained volunteers. I have had the honour and privilege of being the Patron of the Cyprus Samaritans for nine years and I have found my role as patron to be both humbling and fulfilling. We are a confidential organisation and although we are based in Paphos and Limassol, we pride ourselves that we are able to offer this telephonic service to all diverse communities in Cyprus. In addition, as a free service, the Samaritans operate the phone lines seven evenings per week from 4pm-midnight, three hundred and sixty-five days a year. Cyprus Samaritans is not part of United Kingdom Samaritans, however, the organisation works to the same practices and principles as that organisation. Training methods and materials are based on the ones used by Samaritans in the United Kingdom. The need for volunteers for the Samaritans help line is on the rise amongst all communities in Cyprus and people phone the Samaritans for all sorts of reasons. Some issues that people call in for are:they may feel suicidal, are suffering from bereavement, are feeling low, depressed or in distress and they need to talk to someone in confidence.

cultural reasons, they have not been able to seek help. Nevertheless, this is changing rapidly and the call for Greek-speaking volunteers is greatly needed. To become a listening volunteer no formal qualifications or previous experience are needed as intensive training is provided over a period of four Saturdays with ongoing training and support. Listening volunteers come from all walks of life. We recruit volunteers twice a year, in March/April in Paphos and October in Limassol. If you are interested in becoming a valued listening volunteer please call 80007773 between 4pm-midnight. Alternatively please write to;P.O.Box 64420

We do not make judgements, give opinions or offer advice; we are there to listen with empathy.

Rock’n’roll Gig Aimed at Teenagers Chris King and the Firebirds have been a knock-out success in live venues right across the island since the inaugural gig of their Memory Lane Tour, in Paphos in June. With St Michael’s Hospice Charity (SMHC), the boys have planned a second charity gig at Bonamare Beach Bar, Timi, this time early on a Sunday evening with the aim of getting the younger generation involved.

only facility on the island currently to have a special wing for care of youngsters with life-limiting diseases,” Mrs Dake concluded.

Chris King says at every show how keen he is to get younger audiences to listen to the music loved by their grandparents; indeed to bring rock’n’roll into the 21st century and leave a legacy for those who did not know it first time around in the 60s, 70s and 80s. There is also new rock’n’roll music for the teenage audience of today, most particularly because Firebird singer/musician Johnny Black has been writing authentic new rock’n’roll numbers for the group, many of which will be recorded in the studio later this year.

In the meantime, St Michael’s Hospice Charity is delighted to announce that the next charity Firebirds concert will be on Sunday 29th October, from 6.00pm, meaning that families can spend the afternoon on the beach at Timi and then drift into the beach-bar at sundown for refreshments and a traditional Cyprus buffet followed by an action-packed three-part rock’n’roll show tracing the history of the music, from the 50s right up to the modern day. Tickets at €23 include a donation to the charity are on sale at Bonamare with a reduced ticket cost - again for the first time - of €12 for youngsters under the age of 14. “I think this is a fantastic idea,” said SMHC spokeswoman Nikki Dake. “Chris and the boys have been extremely generous in allowing us to hold raffles at many of their shows and we feel the timing of this gig is sheer brilliance. The Charity is made doubly aware of the importance of recognising the younger generation’s needs as Archangel Michael Hospice is the

What’s Your Name? By David Waite

A competition was held in Britain a little while ago to find the most inventive names that companies have chosen to make their businesses memorable to the public – and some humorous examples were revealed. Do you want your carpets cleaned? Try Spruce Springclean. Or buy a bunch of flowers? Ring Floral and Hardy. Other memorable monikers in the list included Only Food and Sauces (burger van) Sell-Fridges, Facial Attraction (Beauty Parlour) Curl Up And Dye (Hairdressers) and even Wright-Hassle (Solicitors). And somewhere in the Leeds area there are Estate Agents maybe describing their sales success rate called Waite and Waite! So what’s in a name? Quite a lot actually. Some people believe that the name people are given at birth affects the way they live out their life, even if they don’t know what their name means. I don’t know about that, but I do know that in biblical times parents, directed by God, often gave their children names which reflected what was happening in the land of Israel or to the child, at the time or in the future. Do you know what your name means? It is easy enough to find out these days, with a little help from a computer which has access to Google. When I was speaking at NTCC some time ago, I talked about the meaning of names, and one of the members, Edna, had no idea what her name meant. When I told her that her name meant ‘delight’, she was of course delighted, and it gave her a well deserved boost. In the Bible a name sometimes expresses the essential individual character of the person or object named. For example Adam is the Hebrew word for “man”. It could be derived from the Hebrew meaning “to be red”, referring to the ruddy colour of human skin, or from Akkadian adamu meaning «to make». Moses means ‘drew out’ and of course he was drawn out of the waters of the Nile by an Egyptian princess, but when he became a man he would draw his people the Jews out of Egypt. Joseph means ‘he will add’, and although he was put through many hardships, he went from strength to strength eventually becoming second only to Pharaoh in Egypt. President Trump might be interested to know that Donald means ‘ruler of the world’ but before he gets too excited he ought to know that the first name of his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin has exactly the same meaning. When God decided to send His Son Jesus to earth, to deal once and for all with the question of sin which had separated man from God, there was significance in the name God chose to use. The name ‘Jesus’ doesn’t have much meaning that we can understand, because it is Latin for a Hebrew name ‘Yeshua’ – and another form of that name is ‘Joshua’. But their literal translation is ‘rescuer’ or ‘deliverer’ God sent Yeshua to deal with the problem of sin – and gave Him the name which describes what He would do. So whatever your birth name happens to be, when you invite Jesus, or to give Him His Hebrew name Yeshua, into your life, you receive His salvation (meaning deliverance) too. And that lasts for eternity. The Bible, which is the authority on these things says this: “Salvation comes no other way; no other name (other than Yeshua) has been or will be given to us by which we can be saved, only this one.” (Ac 4:12 Message) A fact well worth knowing.

Talking Therapies by Dr Vasilios Silivistris DipSup DipComp BA MA FRSH MBACP PhD

Talking therapies gives people the opportunity to speak in confidence to a trained professional about problems/issues that are causing them concern. Some people use talking therapies to help them to cope with specific difficulties, such as serious illness/bereavement/ anxiety/depression whereas, other people may use them for personal-growth/ development.

The humanistic therapies encourage people to think about their feelings and take responsibility for their thoughts/actions in terms of life’s meaning/values, and achieving the highest potential. The emphasis of humanistic therapies is on personal growth.

Different types of approaches in the talking therapies. Counselling Counselling is a general term for a range of talking therapies.

How do talking therapies work? Talking therapies can involve a number of regular face-to-face sessions that usually last for an hour. There is an initial assessment where the therapist will obtain an idea of the problem and some background information. The therapist will then discuss a treatment plan with the person. It is also possible to receive counselling/ psychotherapy over the telephone or on Skype.

A counsellor listens to a person’s concerns in a non-judgemental/ supportive manner. The aim of counselling is to help the person seeking support to be clearer about their problems. In this way, people are able to come up with their own answers. It is often used to help someone cope with recent events that they have found difficult. Psychotherapy Psychotherapy provides a more in-depth form of therapy than counselling and can address a wider range of issues. There are many different types of psychotherapy approaches, these include: Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) is a specific form of psychotherapy. It aims to help people to change how they think (‘cognitive’) and what they do (‘behaviour’). These changes can help people to feel better. Unlike some of the other talking therapies, CBT focuses on the ‘here and now’ instead of focusing on the causes of distress in the past. In addition, CBT looks for ways to improve the person’s current situation. Psychodynamic therapy focuses on how a person’s current behaviour and relationships are affected by their unconscious thoughts and past experiences (particularly childhood experiences). Psychoanalysis is similar to psychodynamic therapy in that it raises awareness of how early experiences and relationships affect current behaviours and motives. Psychoanalysis is more in-depth and sessions are usually more frequent than in other types of therapeutic approaches.

18

grapevine | your local community meeting place | october 2017 issue

A psychotherapist will help a person increase their understanding of how their personality and life experiences influence their current thoughts/ feelings/relationships and behaviour.

There is no standard length of time for therapy. The number of sessions required will depend on the type of problem, the type of therapy, and who is giving the therapy. Successful therapy depends very much on the development of a trusting relationship between the therapist and the client. The relationship between a client and a therapist is confidential. This means that what is discussed during therapy will not be disclosed to anyone else. What should I look for in a therapist? It is important that you feel comfortable with your therapist. This will depend on your own personality and that of the therapist. It is also important to check that the therapist: Is accredited by the relevant professional body such as the BACP. Abides by a professional code of ethics. Has regular ongoing professional supervision to ensure safe and ethical practice. Discuss their approach, confidentiality, and fees. Landscape: The Heritage Around Us The European Heritage Days (EHDs), a joint initiative of the Council of Europe and the European Commission, are the most widely celebrated participatory cultural events shaped by the citizens of Europe. The pan-European nature of the events contributes to bringing citizens together and highlighting the European dimension and value of cultural heritage in the 50 signatory States of the European Cultural Convention. Over 70 000 events are organized every year in order to help raise awareness of Europe’s common heritage and the continuous need for its protection, as well as to create shared cultural heritage experiences, promote inclusiveness and foster creativity and imagination. In this year’s edition of the EHDs, we are celebrating the intrinsic relationship between people and nature under the common theme: “Heritage and Nature: A Landscape of Possibilities”. Emphasis is given to heritage values embodied in nature and to the extent to which the environment shapes people’s lives and lifestyles and its contribution to their well-being and socio-economic growth. In Cyprus, from the 1st until the 16th of October, a series of events will take place on the theme: “Landscape: the heritage around us”. The events are coordinated by the Department Town Planning and Housing. The 24 participating organizers, invite audiences of all ages to a variety of events around the wider theme of landscape. They include excursions in nature by jeeps, donkeys, bikes or hiking. They will guide you around towns, villages, archaeological sites, vineyards, mines and meadows. They will invite you to make baskets, vases, embroideries and traditional ornaments. They will present you documentaries, exhibitions and lectures. You will be welcomed by “palouze”, zivania, olives and you will get a chance to learn old recipes and challenge yourself to compete in your culinary skills! UK Cathedral Choir to Perform in Paphos A veritable feast of choral delights are to be heard at a recital by CANTATE, one of the choirs of Portsmouth Cathedral, England, on Saturday 21st October at the historic Ayia Kyriaki Church, Kato Paphos. Organised by the Anglican Church of Paphos, the recital commences at 8.00pm and includes works by Bach, Faure, Stanford, Howells, Jackson and Vaughan Williams as well as some close harmony and solo items.

The choir will also be singing at the 6.00pm Anglican service of Holy Eucharist at Ayia Kyriaki Church on Sunday 22nd October. This is the choir’s fifth international tour following successful trips to France, Austria, The Alps, Malta and Italy. “We are delighted to be singing in Cyprus and thank our friends and hosts here for all they have done to help us on our way,” said choir Director, David Price. CANTATE is one of Portsmouth Cathedral’s three choirs and is made up of 20 girl choristers alongside the Cathedral Choral Scholars.

The Joy of Singing ‘Hymns of Praise’ in a Historic Setting The walls of the ancient and historic Ayia Kyriaki church, Kato Paphos will soon resound with the sound of hymns being sung at a special ‘Hymns of Praise’ service. Commencing at 6.00 pm on Friday 27th October, this special ecumenical service, arranged jointly by the Latin Catholic and Anglican churches, will contain popular and well-known hymns including Amazing Grace, Make me a channel of your peace, All people that on earth do dwell and Abide with me.

Formed in 2006, this versatile and exciting choir opens the way for girls and teenage boys to add their voices to choral worship both in Portsmouth Cathedral, in concerts around the Anglican Diocese of Portsmouth as well as other prestigious venues such as Westminster Abbey, Lambeth Palace and Canterbury Cathedral. CANTATE sings Evensong each Thursday during term time, in addition to many events in various concert venues. They are involved in the Portsmouth Cathedral’s Sing Up Chorister Outreach Programme and feature on a number of the Cathedral’s recent CDs. The Choir has also performed in the Portsmouth Festivities and broadcast live on BBC Radio 3’s [italic]The Choir and Choral Evensong and Radio 4’s Sunday Worship. Last year they sang the Second Sea Lord’s Carol Service on board HMS Victory.

‘This is the first ‘Hymns of Praise’ service which we have jointly arranged at Ayia Kyriaki and hope to encourage as many people as possible to come along” said Catholic Priest, Fr. Jim Kennedy. “You don’t have to be a churchgoer or even a Christian to enjoy singing in this wonderful building – Everyone is welcome” he said. Shut The Crossings Now! - My Thought of the Day! by Andreas C Chrysafis

The Anastasiades government has recently given permission to Turkish Cypriots and among them the ultra nationalists Grey Wolves, the terrorist organisation that lynched and killed in cold blood – and in full view of the media – cousins, Isaac and Solomon Solomou. No Turk has been charged for those crimes! They crossed the Republic in long bus convoys on their way to celebrate the killing of Greek Cypriots and their families at Kokkina of the Tilliria district with napalm bombs. They commemorate this event each year! It is certainly a pathetic decision by the Greek government to allow TCs to dance and rejoice on the graves of the Greek people. But that’s not the end of the fiasco! Similarly, the Cyprus government allows Turkish Cypriots to visit Hala Sultan Tekke, a Muslim shrine in Larnaca to pay homage (and rightfully so) at one of the most revered Islamic Mosques. Thousands arrive there each year and pray to Allah. Yet last week, Christian Greek Cypriots were refused permission to cross over to the Muslim Turkish occupied area of Cyprus and hold their annual church services at Ayios Mamas in Morphou! The excuse - it conflicts with their own Muslim “prayers of souls” at Hala

Sultan Tekke! How ironic! Has anyone heard such rubbish and religious racism for political objectives? Enough! New radical policies must be introduced by the government and stop feeding the monster with concessions that would ultimately turn and devour the mere existence of Hellenism on the small island. It would be wise to shut all the crossings now before its too late; revoke the Republic’s passports to all TCs living in the occupied area and stop all government benefit privileges; impose a trade embargo; stop tour operators using Cyprus’s airports as a convenience to transport thousands of tourists to the north but also stop all other “freebies” including EU structural funding and much more… When sanctions are enforced one can be assured that Ankara and the Turkish Cypriots would soon start to think differently about the Cyprus issue. In fact, there should be no more negotiations until the TC administration starts to behave in a meaningful manner and demonstrate its respect for people’s religion, ethnic diversity and respect of human rights within the boundaries of rule of law. If not, why even bother with such non-secular Islamic mentality dictated by Sultan Erdogan? Time for a new offensive strategy and replace the existing one that has failed to reunify and liberate the island from the Turkish occupiers. www.facebook.com/ACChrysafisAuthor www.facebook.com/ACChrysafisArtGallery

Portfolio Reviews by Mrs. Vivian Nagel, MCSI

It is advisable for investors to monitor their investment portfolios on an ongoing basis. I meet many investors who for various reasons have not reviewed their portfolios for far too long. In the majority of cases this will be due to loss of contact with their financial adviser. If you are not able to review the portfolio yourself and are no longer in contact with your financial advisor or are unhappy with the service you are receiving from your current advisor then you should be speaking with other advisers to find one who you feel understands your requirements, has the technical ability to offer sound suggestions and advice and is licensed to provide such advice. Your first consultation with an adviser should be free of charge and be without any obligation on your part to take any advice offered. Look for an adviser that you feel comfortable with and that you are confident has your best interest at heart. Also one who has the experience to provide ongoing advice as to the assets held within the portfolio. Active fund management requires a lot of time and skill. For this reason, you may opt for managed funds or portfolio strategies that have a ready made mix of individual funds, consisting of fixed interest, equities, cash, property and other asset classes. The downside here is that individual investors are all grouped together and invest in the same fund or strategy so there is no personalisation from one investor to the other. Each investor is different and whilst some of you may be happy with a blanket Cautious, Balanced or Aggressive approach, for most the ability to have the exposure to each asset class that best meets your individual requirements is paramount to ensuring that your monies have the best possible chance of meeting your own objectives. Your adviser should be providing valuations at least every 6 months, in all cases they should include the valuation from the Bank or Insurance Company where the portfolio is held. I am constantly amazed at how many advisers produce their own valuation without providing the client with the official one. I have my own valuation which I prepare for clients which reflects everything that is on the official valuation but also provides more information particularly in regard to performance but in all cases the client also receives the official valuation. Whilst I am not suggesting that your advisor is being economical with the truth, it may be that it is less admin for him/her, but not providing the official valuation has historically been used to mask large losses or worse, remember Bernie Madoff! If you feel you would benefit from a review of your portfolio please call or email me. Mrs. Vivian Nagel, MCSI Mobile 99579149

Shogun Short Mat Bowling Most people know standard lawn bowls - but Short Mat Bowls? What’s that all about? Short Mat Bowling is a variation of lawn bowls but has the advantage of being able to be played indoors. It became popular in the UK in the 1980s and the English Short Mat Bowling Association was formed in 1984. The game is played on a mat or carpet which measures 45ft by 6ft wide (13.75m by 1.8m). As in lawn bowls the object of the game is to get your bowl nearest to the jack which is placed at the other end of the mat. Sounds simple? Not quite that easy. To make the game more interesting a wooden block is placed partly across the width of the mat thus requiring the player to use the bias of the bowl to bowl around the wood and towards the jack. It is very social game which provides gentle exercise and can be played equally well by men and women. Age is no limit - we have a few members who are in their 80s and they fare very well (if not better) than the younger members. Tuition will be provided by experienced players who will be very patient with you. We all had to start sometime so we know what it is like. You will become a professional in no time at all! If you are interested, why not pop along for a free game and see what it all about? We meet every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday at 9.30am for a 9.45am start. The session usually finishes about 1.00pm. We have a break after the first game when you can enjoy tea, coffee or a soft drink and biscuits. Be assured of an enthusiastic welcome. If you do decide to join there is no annual Membership fee - just pay as you play. This is particularly good for people who are not permanent residents here. Not having your own bowls is not a problem. The club has several sets which can be borrowed until you find the right ones for you. The only requirement is footwear. Playing shoes should be heelless and with smooth flat or ribbed soles. Or you can play in your stocking feet! The venue is at the Shogun Karate Club which is situated along the main road in the village of Emba. This is a dedicated building used for all types of sport including squash, table tennis, badminton, etc.

Nigel Cummings

Sadly we have to say goodbye to Nigel Cummings who is leaving Cyprus and returning to Scotland. Nigel and his family have lived in Cyprus for around 7 years but the lure of a new grandchild back home has persuaded them to return. Nigel has been playing with us for about 2 years and has proved a popular member of the club. We wish him and his family all happiness for the future and look forward to seeing him whenever he returns to these shores.

National Competitions The National Competitions are due to start at the Mimosa Club on Friday 6th October. As the name suggests this is a competition for all the Short Mat Bowling Clubs to find the best players and teams in Cyprus. We wish an enjoyable competition to all participants. Maggie’s Beauty Tip Wardrobe Dilemmas!

How can you create an ageless wardrobe? Stock up on fashion classics, such as good denim, leather boots, a cashmere jumper and a white shirt. These pieces work year and year and suit women of all ages. You can then splurge on a few trendy pieces each season. The number one style secret of well-dressed women is clothes that fit properly, so spend time figuring out which shapes best flatter your shape. Ruffles and frills are in fashion but can make your bigger bust look even larger. When picking tops and dresses, avoid frills that go across your bust line as they’ll create more emphasis up top. Experiment with fabulous frilled shoulders and peplum hems instead, which will nod to the trend without adding too much oomph! Alternatively, try out the trend on your lower half – ruffled skirts paired with a more fitted top will play down a top-heavy shape. How to take your favourite summer pieces into autumn – it’s all about layering. Your sleeveless dresses and floaty blouses will look super-stylish layered over cosy lightweight rollnecks. Extend the life of your tunics and shirtdresses by pairing them with slim-fit trousers and ankle boots. Restyle summer dresses with longline cardigans, then add a belt to cinch them in

at the middle. Wear long sleeved t-shirts under jumpsuits – try a striped version for a fresh update. How to make a ‘capsule’ wardrobe. These hardworking pieces will go with everything, never date and always look chic. Rollneck jumper – a slim-fit rollneck is a master of multitasking. Layer it under dresses or blouses to add warmth, or simply style it by itself. Modern trench – this fashion favourite has withstood the test of time because it flatters every figure. Try one with leather details for a modern upgrade. Black jumpsuit – ideal for pretty much every occasion. All it takes is a change of accessories and voila! Silk blouse – an easy piece that will always make you feel polished. Whether you’re wearing it with a pencil skirt for work or with denim at the weekend, it’s a timeless addition to every outfit. Wide-leg trousers – we love the flattering, feminine shape. Find a high-waisted style and wear with heels to make legs look endless. Trouser suit – even if you don’t work in an office, you’ll be surprised by the versatility of this item. Smart and chic, wear as separates for even more mileage. Luxe trainers – no longer just for off-duty days, wear yours with everything from a little black dress to boyfriend jeans. Choose a metallic pair for maximum versatility. Maggie Wright, Colour Me Beautiful Consultant. Special offer – colour consultation without wallet of colours only €30. Call 99318477. Great for a Christmas gift.

Club News West Coast Runners Cyprus

Wow, what a busy few weeks West Coast Runners have had! We have been out and about all over the place, from Akamas to Kouklia to Troodos and everywhere in between - running, racing, socialising, celebrating birthdays and talking about running! Some highlights include: On 20th August, we had a great day out at the lovely village of Agros at a rather hilly 5.5km road race, where Janet and Tony won trophies in their age groups. West Coast Runners Cyprus was also delighted to be awarded a special plaque in recognition of the club’s participation in the race, which was held in memory of Nearchos Clerides, a very famous teacher and writer from Agros. A big thank you to Agros Community and Periclis Demetriou Running Club for this amazing honour. On 2nd September, there was a 5km race at Anogyra village

organised by Magic Always Happens in support of autism - a great cause we are very happy to support and the 3 trophies won by John, Alan and Christine were an unexpected but lovely bonus! On 8th September, six of our members descended on the Rock FM studio in Paphos to talk about our new Couch-to5k programme which has just started. There is still time to join - we meet in Paphos at 6pm every Monday for 10 weeks so it is convenient for anyone who works during the day. For more details, find us on Facebook or at www.westcoastrunnerscyprus.org or phone Christine on 97757159. If you would like more information about the club or our running schedule, just phone Catherine on 99931530 or John on 99967895. So, if you want to get fit, meet people, socialise and see the island join us at West Coast Runners!

Paphos International Sailing Club

Sun, sea and chocolate? “Come with me and we’ll be in a world of pure imagination” sang Willy Wonka. Ah it’s lovely to dream, de-stress and relax but not in the PISC Factory. Come with me to AG and you’ll see pure energy in the dinghy park as our sailors, energised by this beautiful weather, lavish care and attention to their dinghies to make them sail “just that little bit faster” in preparation for our now famous Autumn Regatta. Saturday and Sunday 7th. and 8th. October from 11am to 4pm each day. A few years ago one had to look very carefully for any evidence of “go faster” bits. Now you will see pristine sails, inboard sheeting, mast rams, barbour haulers and muscle boxes to mention a few. Do we hear the Old Sea Dogs mumbling “What happened to spit and polish then?” Absolutely nothing for in a race lasting one hour there are rarely 10 seconds separating three or four boats as they cross the finishing line. Don’t miss this exciting weekend of our famous Autumn Regatta at Agios Georgios. Interested? Bring your binoculars for a close up view as the

Paphos Classic Vehicle Club

Paphos Classic Vehicle Club is a group of people who either own or appreciate classic vehicles, and enjoy getting together, using and discussing them. We usually hold our monthly socials at the Ayios Epiphanios Taverna in Anarita on the third Saturday of the month at 4.00pm. The Classic Car breakfast that we held in August and September were very well attended and enjoyed by all including four new members. If you would like advice on buying or running a classic car here in Cyprus come and join us for breakfast on the first Saturday of every month at the Tea for Two restaurant next to “Gabors” in Kato Paphos at 9.00am where you will find some of our members to help you. As is our annual tradition, in September we held our Fish and Chip supper on Mandria Beach on Thursday 7th September. What a great evening we had with over forty members and friends in attendance. A big thank you to Pip and Kate for organizing this really enjoyable event.
