Hello from all the staff at Leadon Vale Veterinary Centre. We wanted to give you the opportunity to have a look around our recently refurbished practice and see it through the eyes of our Practice Dog, Dr Bertie Leith. Hello everyone I'm Dr Bertie Leith … but you can call me Bertie. I’m going to take this opportunity to show you
what happens to your pet during their visit here, with some added behind the scenes insight: On arrival at the practice, there is a friendly and welcoming reception area and if I am lucky enough I may be offered treats on arrival - if I am not in for an operation that day. There are separate dog and cat waiting areas, which
help pets feel safe from harm. Before I am admitted, I will be weighed in reception, and then taken into one of the four consulting rooms for a preop check. I am then taken behind the scenes to the prep room where my leg is clipped and an IV catheter placed. If I require any blood tests this is also taken and the tests
are run here in our onsite laboratory. Once this is done, I am then placed in a comfortable dog kennel away from any cats, which have their own separate room. When the vet and vet nurse are ready, I am then gently
and quietly anaesthetised in the prep room before being taken to theatre for my operation. Once my operation is over, I am placed back in my kennel with a warm blanket and if required, a heated blanket. During this time I will be monitored and taken
out for toilet breaks, as well as fed and watered. After which, a discharge time is assigned for my family to come and collect me. If you have any questions or need any advice about your pet please contact us.
