A dynamic and exciting course combining strong technical training, creative opportunities and industry experience. You will have the opportunity to train and explore your own artistic practice.

Key features:

– Live performances and commissions throughout your training – Collaboration with our theatre design and technical theatre students – Professional-standard theatre on campus – Fringe performances and residencies – Creative courses collaborate to mirror industry practice – Opportunities in Year 3 to specialise in writing, directing, producing, film, transmedia or comedy

The training focuses on different aspects of acting: the actor-performer, the actor-director, the actor-activist, the actor-producer and the actor on film.

The BA (Hons) Acting allows you to develop acting techniques through a series of different approaches to ensure that you are most employable and well placed to critique and contribute to the cultural landscape.

There are opportunities to collaborate with our theatre design, makeup, props, technical and music students. In the second and third years you will have the opportunity to specialise in writing, directing, producing, film, transmedia or comedy, and design your own projects.

You will benefit from a variety of visiting practitioners and specialised workshops throughout the three years.

Collaborative activities between courses is invaluable in building the interdisciplinary relationships needed within the creative industries.

You will be given numerous opportunities to perform at our own 160-seat theatre and at external venues, such as the Brighton Fringe Festival, St Paul’s Arts Centre, Cellar Arts Club and Hove Grown Festival.
