This creative course focuses on the design and manufacture of props for theatre, TV, film, display and entertainment industries.

Graduates are now working on major films, TV series, adverts, West End shows and magazine shoots. High-profile industry links include: the National Theatre, Elstree Film Studios, Universal Creations, English National Ballet, Bower Wood, Royal Shakespeare Company and many more.

Current students come from a wide range of creative and academic backgrounds, but all share a joint passion for design and making.

You will explore a wide range of design and practical techniques such as: wood and metal work, sculpting, moulding and casting, decorative finishes, model making and soft props / puppetry, to create a skill set that will support your development as a prop maker.

The broad sector of the entertainment and display industries are explored through live experiences. You can expect to hone and develop your personal skills and interests through individual practice, alongside a broad range of collaborative opportunities that showcase your abilities to wider audiences.

The course is highly employment-focused and involves working on many professional client-led projects combined with work experience and portfolio development, ensuring you become an industry-ready practitioner.

Throughout the course you will explore a unique combination of practical and academic work. You will be encouraged to frame your studies within wider contexts of TV, film, exhibition display, theatre and education to ensure you can place yourself and your work within motivating and sustainable creative opportunities.
