YOUTH SWIMMING NOTE:
To swim alone, children must be 7 years old. Otherwise, a parent must be IN THE WATER and within arm’s reach of the child at all times. To be alone in the hot tub, swimmers must be 15 years old. Children must be able to swim 15 yards to use the slide alone. If they are unable, they must wear a life jacket (provided by the Community Center) and ride down with an adult, age 18 or older. **(Paying adult must accompany preschool child into water. Cost is $12 for both the parent and the first child, only $4 for each additional child. No more than 3 children per adult.)

This class is designed for families that want to continue a handson approach to their child’s swimming skills. Parents/guardians/ caregivers (one adult in the water per child) will be taught methods to help their child with basic water adjustment skills, swimming techniques, confidence and independence in the water. Class goals include water safety as well lots of fun. This is the perfect class for children with special needs or those who may need a little more personal attention to help their learning process.

PRESCHOOL DANCE RECITAL INFORMATION
We’re excited to offer a 14 to 16-week session for both dance and gymnastics, which will lead up to a recital. The recital is not mandatory, but the session will give instructors more time to work on additional skills and techniques along with creating an awesome routine to perform at Bullock Creek High School on Dec. 14th at 1:30 p.m. Costumes and tickets to the show will be an added expense. Tickets to the show are $6.00, children 3 and under are free.) Classes marked are the classes that will perform in the recital. $10 of your fee for registration will go towards your costume fee. Please indicate whether or not your child will be performing in the recital and the price will reflect your choice during registration.

DUPLICATE BRIDGE Monday & Wednesday at 12:30 pm. This is sanctioned bridge and includes additional fees.

Played every Wednesday at 1:00pm. Everyone is welcome.
MAH JONGG Tuesdays & Thursdays at 1:00pm. Mah Jongg is a rummy-like game played with tiles rather than cards. Beginners are welcome and instruction is offered if needed.

GENTLE AEROBICS Monday, Wednesday & Friday from 12:15pm - 1 pm. A light and gentle aerobics class. Led by a volunteer.

50+ CENTER FUN EXERCISE SILVERSNEAKERS SilverSneakers is a program offered under many insurance plans. Check with your insurance provider to see if you qualify! SilverSneaker classes are offered every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 10:45am– 11:45am. Our experienced instructors will help you feel comfortable in this fun, lower intensity, group exercise setting. SILVER & FIT This program allows you to attend many of our Active Adult fitness classes where our instructors provide a fun, low-intensity group exercise setting. Offered under many insurance plans, be sure to check with your insurance to see if you qualify.

FALL PETOSKEY TRIP - THURSDAY, OCTOBER 17TH
Petoskey is a must-see Michigan City, especially in the Fall! This adventure will be the perfect time to get a glimpse of fall colors and the beauty of Northern Michigan. TRIP INCLUDES: Fully escorted Motorcoach bus trip leaving from Midland Community Center, a step-on guided tour of Petoskey, time on your own to enjoy lunch within the City, a scenic drive through the Tunnel of Trees, an all-inclusive dinner at the historic Legs Inn Restaurant featuring Polish food, snacks, games, and prizes on the bus. (Prizes donated by Bayside Home Care)

This beautiful island is a must-see! The largest island in the Saginaw Bay, Charity Island has about 3 miles of shoreline and is surrounded by the waters of Lake Huron. TRIP INCLUDES: Fully escorted Motorcoach bus trip, boat cruise to and from Charity Island, Scenic views of the island with a few short walks, island served meal (Great Lakes Perch or sauteed tenderloin steak tips), snacks games and prizes donated by Bayside Home Care. *If this trip is canceled due to weather, the rain date is scheduled for September 26.

AQUATIC PROGRAMS THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW BEFORE YOUR FIRST SWIM CLASS 1. No make-ups will be given for any missed classes. Swim class fees do not include admittance to any open swim times. 2. Please bring hair ties or clips for hair that will hang in the face when wet. 3. Please remove street shoes before entering pool area.
STRUCTURED LESSONS All aquatic instructional programs are offered under the standards of the Greater Midland Swim Program. Standardized skills and progress reports will be used in all classes to reflect each student’s abilities.
PRIVATE & SEMI-PRIVATE SWIM LESSONS Private and semi-private swim lessons are available through the Community Center at various times throughout the week. This is a great opportunity to get one-on-one instruction at a time that fits your schedule. Our qualified swim instructors are available to work with any age or skill level. PRIVATE LESSON: $40 per 30-minute session; SEMI-PRIVATE LESSON: $20 per 30-minute session per participant (a minimum of two participants are required for a lesson). Not sure if your child is ready to commit to the Dolphins? Check out our introductory swim team. Children ages 6-12 years old can have the swim team experience and learn what a swim team is all about! Sign up for 1 or 2 practices a week. We will conclude the session with a swim meet. Practices are held in the East Pool at the Midland Community Center. NOTE: Participants must be able to swim 25 yards continuously without assistance or using any flotation, as well as needing to know the basics of the freestyle and back strokes.

MIDLAND DOLPHINS SWIM TEAM Powered by the Greater Midland Community Center, the mission of the Midland Dolphins Swim Team is to promote competitive swimming in the Midland community while allowing each athlete to achieve his or her personal goals. EARLY CARE & EDUCATION Our Early Education program is implementing the HighScope Curriculum. “The HighScope Curriculum emphasizes adult-child interaction, a carefully designed learning environment, and a plan-do-review process that strengthens initiative and self-reliance in children and young people.” With guidance from our qualified staff your child will be prepared to begin Kindergarten with the necessary developmental skills and confidence to succeed in the next step of his or her education. Ultimately our goal is to provide education, social and emotional support and the opportunity to explore and discover to set the course of lifelong learning. BEFORE & AFTER SCHOOL Throughout the school year before and after care is available at Siebert, Woodcrest, Chestnut Hill and Central Park Elementary Schools. We also offer a full day program for school agers on non-MPS school days. Our full day program is located on the campus of Greater Midland Community Center including: professional development days, Winter Break and Spring Break. We offer full day care on snow/inclement weather days on a first come first served basis. Kids have the opportunity to participate in a variety of activities on non-school days including swimming at the Oasis Pool, recreational gym time, and organized games and activities.
