As summer comes to an end, we are preparing for a fantastic fall here at the Tennis Center! We have programs for every age and experience level. If you’ve never played tennis but would like to take advantage of all the health benefits of the sport, ask us about our Learn to Play program. If you have played for years and want to keep your skills sharp, try one of our clinics or take a lesson with one of our certified pros. Even if you just want to burn calories in a fun and unique way, our Cardio Tennis class is sure to get your heart racing! Over the summer we revamped our junior tennis pathway and now have two great ways to keep our junior players active in tennis. Our pre-school program is appropriate for children as young as 3, even if they’ve never held a racquet. Kids in kindergarten through the fifth can work their way through Red

Ball, Orange Ball and Green Ball in preparation for a lifetime of tennis fun! Junior members who plan on a competitive tennis career can work with our pros and earn an invitation to the competitive training program while those who are interested in sticking with the sport recreationally will have opportunity to continue in our junior programs through high school. For our adult members and guests, we will offer many of the same programs you have come to love with a few new classes and events to keep things exciting! Of course, we will host the ever-popular Midland Smoker Tournament which draws players from throughout the Midwest and as winter sets in the Dow Tennis Classic will draw professional female tennis players from around the world. Fall is one of the best times to visit the Tennis Center! Many days are still warm enough to play outside amid the autumn splendor and when it’s too cold to play outside our members and guests can turn up the heat on our indoor courts. Our team is ready to serve you and we can’t wait to welcome you! -Your tennis team

MEMBERSHIP The Greater Midland Tennis Center is ranked one of the top 25 tennis facilities in the United States and in 2009, the U.S. Tennis Association rated Midland the “Best Tennis Town in America.” Each year the Dow Tennis Classic, a world-renowned Women’s USTA Pro-Circuit Tournament, is held at the Tennis Center. YOU can play on the same courts as the pros! The Tennis Center features 16 indoor courts and 19 full-sized outdoor courts, including 4 clay courts. The wide variety of class offerings caters to people of all ages and skill levels. Classes, lessons and clinics are taught by top tennis professionals who can help you prepare for competitive play or just learning to love the game.

This is the second stage of our Junior Development program. Players will have the chance to work on skills with a partner and also compete through skills-based tasks. Our Preschool aged program uses Tennis Whizz, a national program for children age 5 and younger. Activities include jumping, running, hopping, throwing, catching, swinging, managing space, following directions, controlling objects and interacting with other children. Let’s Play! This is a great program that gives kids a chance to play the great sport of tennis. Participants will be split up and placed on a team. Each week your child’s team will play against another team and within 6:00-7:00pm that match they will play multiple people. It is a great way to get your child excited about tennis! ADULTS The Greater Midland Tennis Center is one of the first of its kind to build an entire program around adults and their tennis game. That’s because we want our adult tennis players to learn, train and play great tennis. We want each player who comes through to become the best tennis player they can be.
