EAST POOL LENGTH SWIM: Because these times are scheduled for length swim, please follow length-swim etiquette including, but not limited to: staying to the proper side of the swim lane; swimming, not playing; coaching or walking in the lane; and adjusting lanes for appropriate speed. Lifeguards will assist with any needed guidance.

YOUTH SWIMMING NOTE: To swim alone, children must be 7 years old. Otherwise, a parent must be IN THE WATER and within arm’s reach of the child at all times. To be alone in the hot tub, swimmers must be 15 years old. Children must be able to swim 15 yards to use the slide alone. If they are unable, they must wear a life jacket (provided by the Community Center) and ride down with an adult, age 18 or older. **A paying adult must accompany preschool child into water ($12 for both the parent and 1st child; $4 additional child). No more than 3 children per adult.

TEAM-BUILDING Leadership, goal-setting, trust and communication are essential skills possessed by successful teams. We provide 3-, 5-, and 8-hour workshops with large and small group activities to equip your team with the necessary tools to develop these skills. CURLING CENTER RENTALS Curling season is late October to early March and group facility rentals are available during this time. Reservations are accepted beginning in September. Non-curling rentals are available April-August. Group rentals are available for special events. Clubs, schools, churches, businesses and other organizations can try this fun sport. PRESCHOOL PROGRAMS PRESCHOOL AQUATICS AQUA BABIES

AGES: 6 MONTHS - 2.5 YEARS

Parents/guardians/caregivers (1 adult in the water per child) will be taught methods to help their child with basic water adjustment skills, swimming techniques, confidence and independence in the water. Interaction, bonding, water safety and fun will also be a focus of this class.

STRUCTURED LESSONS All aquatic instructional programs are offered under the standards of the American Red Cross. Standardized skills and progress reports will be used in all classes to reflect each student’s abilities.

PARENT - CHILD CLASSES We offer several different parent-child programs to meet a variety of needs. These classes are designed to teach the adult skills and attitudes to help his/her child feel safe in the water, acquire necessary swimming skills, enjoy time together and have fun.

THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW BEFORE YOUR FIRST CLASS: 1. No make-ups will be given for any missed classes. Swim class fees do not include admittance to any open swim times. 2. During swim classes, parents will be asked to watch from the observation rooms overlooking the pools rather than on the deck. Please talk with your child about this so they know what to expect. 3. Please bring hair ties or clips for hair that will hang in the face when wet. 4. Please remove street shoes before entering pool area. 5. Please be sure the student uses the bathroom before class, especially younger students who may need help.

YOUTH GYMNASTICS We are excited to offer a 15- or 16-week (based on day) session for both dance and gymnastics, which will lead up to a recital. The longer session will give instructors more time to work on additional skills and techniques, along with creating awesome routines. GARDEN WITH US IN 2019! The Greater Midland Community Center welcomes novice and experienced gardeners to apply for a plot in the 2019 growing season. Full and half-plots are available. For those with limited mobility, we offer four raised beds: two at 4 feet high and two at 3 feet high. The soil will be ready for planting with water and tools available. Gardeners must fill out an application. We will begin accepting applications beginning Feb. 25. Returning gardeners have until April 8 to claim their plots from the previous season.

AQUATICS PROGRAMS THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW BEFORE YOUR FIRST SWIM CLASS: 1. No make-ups will be given for any missed classes. Swim class fees do not include admittance to any open swim times. 2. During swim classes, parents will be asked to watch from the observation rooms overlooking the pools rather than on the deck. Please talk with your child about this so they know what to expect. 3. BEFORE- & AFTER-SCHOOL CARE Throughout the school year, before and after care is available at Siebert, Woodcrest, Chestnut Hill and Central Park elementary schools. We also offer a full-day program for school agers on nonMPS school days. Our full-day program is located on the campus of Greater Midland Community Center includes: professional development days, Winter Break and Spring Break. We offer full day care on snow/inclement weather days on a first-come, firstserved basis. Kids have the opportunity to participate in a variety of activities on non-school days including swimming at the Oasis Pool, recreational gym time, and organized games and activities.
