Greater Midland Summer Camps strive to provide opportunities for campers to gain independence, participate in hands-on learning experiences, improve their self-confidence and create lasting friendships in a safe and nurturing environment.
OUR STAFF Our Camp staff are selected based on their strength in youth development and areas of interest. Counselors are dedicated to working with campers to improve their self-esteem, social skills, and independence. Each season all camp staff participate in 30+ hours of training where they learn how to best engage, teach, and supervise campers. All staff complete background checks.

SAFETY AT CAMP Every summer 5,000 + campers attend Greater Midland summer camps. Campers have the opportunity to create lasting friendships and have outstanding hands-on learning experiences. Greater Midland Summer Camp provides an energetic setting, where every unique personality can explore their individual interests and connect with well-trained, caring counselors.
PARENT INFORMATION:
Greater Midland Summer Camps are dedicated in ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for all campers. To ensure the highest of standards we follow strict state licensing regulations, and continually review our camper health, wellness and safety procedures. Low staff-camper ratios allow counselors to focus on keeping your camper safe and engaged throughout their camp experience.
FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE Our sliding fee financial assistance program ensures that all children have an opportunity to attend Greater Midland Summer Camps. Applications for Sliding Fee assistance are available at the Greater Midland Welcome Center help desk. Financial assistance is funded in part by United Way of Midland County.
REGISTRATION: Register your camper at the Greater Midland Community Center Welcome Center. Or register online at: greatermidland.org/camps REGISTRATION OPENS MARCH 1ST! Registration is limited and will be taken on a first-come, first-served basis. Many of our camps fill. It is highly recommended to register early to have the best chance at securing a spot in a camp. PAYMENT INFORMATION: Camp slots will be held with a $30 non-refundable, deposit fee for each camper per session at the time of registration. Deposits are applied to the cost of each session. NEW POLICIES IN 2019: Payments are due in full 14 days before the camp starts. All late registrants will be charged $15. Camps that have not been paid by the payment deadline may be offered to campers on the waiting list. We appreciate your prompt payment of balances so that we can devote our full attention to our camp programs. CAMP CANCELLATIONS: Camps cancelled within 14 days of the camp start date will not be refunded unless accompanied by a doctor’s note. PARENT PACKETS: To provide you with detailed information about our camps please download a parent packet by visiting: greatermidland.org/camps HEALTH HISTORY FORMS: Every camper must have a completed Health History form on file 14 days in advance of attending summer camp. This information assists us in knowing how to best work with your child and to make us aware of any pre-existing health-related or behavioral concerns. Heath History Forms can be found at greatermidland.org/camps Please see the Health History section of the above website for more information on how to submit this paperwork. SIGN IN/OUT: All campers must be signed in by their camps starting time when arriving at camp. For the safety of campers, only persons listed on the authorized pickup section of their health history form may sign a camper out. Due to our camp schedule, early pickup is highly discouraged. Picture identification is required when signing campers out of camp. CAMPER BEHAVIOR/CONDUCT: Greater Midland Summer Camps strives to ensure the well-being of all campers. Campers who display behavior that creates an unsafe environment for themselves or others may be removed from the program. Please read the camper conduct section of the parent handbook. 2

COUNSELORS IN TRAINING AGES 14-15 Our counselors in training program provides an opportunity for teens to gain leadership experience, enhance their communication skills and develop an understanding on how to positively engage campers. CIT’s will be assigned to 1-2 counselor mentors who they will shadow throughout the summer. Teen’s interested in becoming CIT’s must submit an application by May 17, 2019 to be considered. Teen’s entrance into the program will be based on their application and interview with the Summer Camp Director. During the summer of 2019 five CIT’s will be selected to volunteer with the Summer Camp Program. Cost: Teen’s accepted into the CIT Program will pay $30 per week of camp they attend to cover the cost of training and supplies. Campers can explore a wide variety of activities and learn new skills in a safe and fun environment. All of our camps are specifically designed for children 2 to 3 years old and are filled with fun, themed activities in arts and crafts, music, games and so much more! Pick-Up and drop-off will take place at the Midland Community Center. There is NO before and/or after care for these camps.

ELITE TENNIS ACADEMY
For tournament level players, we offer our Elite Training Academy (ETA) Summer Program. Our professional staff will elevate your game utilizing the Rally, Attack, Defend approach to shot selection and decision making. The ETA summer program with elevate your fitness, tactics and strategy, mental toughness, and stroke production. We will help develop your weapons to maximize your tennis potential through match play and drills. Campers should bring their own lunch.

Greater Midland provides camp opportunities at four different locations throughout Midland County. Our North-Family Center (NFC) runs “Operation Fun” and is sponsored annually by Memorial Presbyterian Church. The NFC Operation Fun summer camp is a fun, exciting, and creative experience for children going into grades K – 6th. This summer camp experience is for all children in the eight townships surrounding the NFC, (Bentley, Billings, Edenville, Hope, Larkin, Lincoln, Mills, and Tobacco.) Using a modified version of Minecraft, students will be challenged to design and build a self-sustaining habitat for themselves on the Moon. Students will learn to use the Engineering Design Process to work through a simulated version of the challenges of space travel in the relatively familiar setting of Minecraft.

One of the more complicated aspects of MinecraftEDU is Redstone, which is MinecraftEDU’s version of electrical circuitry. This class will introduce students to the many uses of Redstone through a Medieval themed adventure of creation, exploration, and castle besieging. Students will make mine cart tracks to help them gather resources, working together to build their kingdom, and designing traps to defend their castle.

RESIDENCE CAMP NEYATI INFO: Beth Gaertner: bgaertner@greatermidland.org or 989.923.1978 For the past six summers, all bunks at Camp Neyati were filled for our week-long camp. This is a testament to the incredible and unforgettable experience campers have. The residence camp is located on 187 wooded acres and a half-mile of shoreline on Crooked Lake in Lake, Michigan, only 55 miles northwest of Midland. This year campers enjoy activities during their Wild West adventure along with the traditional camping activities including swimming, archery, group games, fishing, kayaks, paddleboards, canoes, rowboats, paddleboats, arts and crafts, team building and more!
WEEK-LONG CAMP:WILD WEST
We provide each child with a cabin counselor who is eighteen years or older; a camp health aide is onsite for the entire week. This camp is licensed by the state of Michigan.

If payment is not received by this date, your child will be removed and the spot will be filled with someone from the waitlist. CABIN MATE REQUESTS: Campers may request 1 cabin mate and they must request each other. Requests are not guaranteed but we will do our best to accommodate. Cabin changes will not be honored at camp. Health forms can be obtained from the Community Center or online. Please turn forms into the Welcome Center or on line at www.greatermidland.org/camps no later than July 1st. If your camper attends both day camp and Camp Neyati, separate forms will be needed for each.

Ages: 14-15 Cost: $210.00 Camp Cookees are a traditional position at Camp Neyati. It is a counselor-in-training program and your child will get a new experience every year so they truly understand what it takes to become a Junior Counselor and Counselor. Limited spots are available. Interviews will be conducted after applications are reviewed. Cookee registration will occur AFTER interviews have been conducted and Cookees are selected.
JUNIOR COUNSELORS
Ages: 16-17 Leadership development and responsibilities come along with this volunteer position as a Junior Counselor. Two years of Cookee experience is highly recommended, but not required. Limited spots are available. Interviews will be conducted once applications have been reviewed.
CAMP COUNSELORS
Ages: 18+ Counselors are an integral part of Camp Neyati’s staff. Leadership, responsibility, experience, dedication and professionalism are key components to this position.
