Claus Meyer, co-founder of the New Nordic food movement, came to America in 2016 with his culinary and social success in tow. From world-renowned noma to Studio to Meyers Bageri and the socially impactful Melting Pot Foundation Claus brought years of experience and a hunger for helping all through food.
Great Northern Food Hall is a collection of micro-restaurants in a quick service setting. From our own coffee brand in Brownsville Roasters to the wellknown Meyers Bageri you are able to go through a journey of different culinary experiences all under one united vision.
Take a walk to Great Northern Deli to grab a smoked salmon sandwich on freshly-baked seeded rye or hop over to Danish Dogs for a Nordic twist on the New York favorite. Looking for something special? Try a Scandinavian staple, a savory grain-based porridge at Grain Bar.

MeyersUSA has expanded beyond Grand Central Terminal to include Norman in Greenpoint and a private food hall inside Four Times Square with several more projects in the works.
MeyersUSA operates its own coffee roastery in Red Hook. Beans are roasted weekly for all our operations by our Head Roaster and Barista, a two time qualifier for the Coffee Masters Tournament.
Claus Meyer is not only about great food and service but prioritize being part of the community and culture of the neighborhood. Claus has championed a non-profit project in Brownsville entitled the Melting Pot Foundation.
The Melting Pot Foundation’s Brownsville Community Culinary Center has trained dozens of participants in the culinary arts and some even work within the MeyersUSA structure. All of these participants hail from the Brownsville area which is classified a food dessert for lack of quality and fresh foods.
The JACX & Great Northern Markets is a collection and curation of micro restaurants in a dining and living room setting.
We are the amenity space to the office tenants in the morning, for lunch and when leaving the office.
We are the baristas that remember your name. We are the lunch destination to satisfy the whole group. We are the afternoon work space when you tire of the cubicle. We are the conference room when you want to catch up over coffee. We are the bar equipped with foosball and pool tables for when you need to unwind from the day.
We are an extension of the residential tenant’s living room. We are the couch you are going home to at the end of
the day. With cocktail service and plenty of freshly-prepared food, you won’t even need an app. We are the home you invite your friends over to watch the game without having to worry about them making a mess. We are your delivery service, taking pastries and freshly ground coffee to your door on Sunday morning.
We are the local bar and brunch place for the neighbors. We are the quick dinner option after a long day. We are the roof top bar where you share the view with friends over delicious food. We are the lazy Sunday dinner when you want a burger and your partner wants a salad.
The JACX & Great Northern Markets is a community space where “Hygge (or cozy) is prioritized over maximization of seats and quick-service efficiency. All of the food hall stations (or micro restaurants) have counter or bar seating overlooking the small kitchens. The stations will all have a take-away area for those on the go. The two street-facing stations will remain as grab-n-go only to increase capacity and transaction speed. The center of the food hall and the common seating has a large lounge area with sofas, pool table and foosball. The entire seating area has white oak floorboards and carpets under the sofas. Floor lamps underline the feeling of a living room, not a food hall. The remaining seating consists of low tops and larger communal tables for 10 people. The low tops have electrical outlets for those who wish to sit and work. Just like your dining table at home this part of the seating area will function as both dining and work station. In the corners of the seating area are small reading nooks offering more secluded spaces.
The JACX & Great Northern Markets will bring macro hospitality to a micro restaurant setting. Behind the counter, servers will have replaced cashiers and both take-away and sit-down guests will be met with the elevated hospitality expected from a Meyers restaurant. Our staff will have wine training and proper service experience. Each food concept will have a different focus on beverage to accompany the different culinary options. All food will be served on china as opposed to disposable packaging. This contributes to our sustainability values as well as add to the feeling of eating at home. Warm and congenial bar servers will walk the floor and lounge area taking orders from guests and offering bar snacks. In addition, the cocktail bar functions as a specialty coffee destination in the day time. The community space is approachable, interesting and everevolving. Our staff will be our main source of advertising, guiding our neighbors on their first visit. The Community Manager handles everything from events and activations but is really the maÎtre d’ of the entire space. The Community Manager will recognize the tenants and manage the feedback from the users of the space.
The JACX & Great Northern Markets is where LIC citizens meet to get inspired. We are the venue to get inspired, socialize and to be surprised. We will host weeknight speaker series and community discussions not only focused on the culinary world but the overall community as a whole. Guests will enjoy weekend cooking demonstrations led by our industry leaders, sample beer and spirits from local craft breweries and distilleries, and expand their knowledge of natural wines in tastings led by our award-winning Sommelier. The space and seating can easily be transformed into a stage without taking away from the normal offering of food and socializing. Additional entertainment includes exhibitions by local artists and DJ sets and live music at the rooftop bar. Wide-ranging events are seamlessly tailored to the community for residents and neighbors alike. The approachable programming will have a sense of spontaneity and excitement while maintaining its welcoming vibe.
MeyersUSA is a soup to nuts hospitality group. We take pride in not only knowing our producers but being a producer. Our devotion to bread starts at our wheat and rye partner-farms in Sweden. Our passion for coffee starts every Friday morning when we roast a fresh batches of directly traded, organic or fair-trade coffee from the farms in Colombia and Nicaragua that we visit every year. Our Friday happy hour drink is an organic apple cider from our own orchards on a small island in Denmark called Lilleø.
The JACX & Great Northern Markets have a diverse food offering, with rotating concepts throughout the year built around the New Nordic culinary movement. This movement, championed by our founder Claus Meyer, is based on local, sustainable and nutritious foods. We bring an ambitious, yet unpretentious approach to food and how it is served. New York City is a vibrant melting pot of world-wide culinary diversity. Our New Nordic approach lends a perfect framework for exploring the diverse New York food scene in a sustainable, local and healthy manner. We will also represent distinctive flavors from the Nordic countries but predominantly cook with local and seasonal produce. Great food and hospitality foster a sense of time and place, a harmony between producer, creator and consumer. Our mission is to create a space that feels like home for every tenant and guest.
Meyers as an operating partner Meyers is widely recognized in New York and Denmark through our food halls, restaurants, and social initiatives, yet the largest entity of Meyers Denmark and one of our largest segments in New York are our contract operations. Meyers Contract Catering is servicing more than 30,000 Danes in 90+ locations across Denmark and our Four Times Square project, launching May 1st, will provide hospitality services for 2,500 guests daily. Our contracts range from small office buildings to large Fortune 500 companies with vertical catering, receptions for thousands of guests and formal seated dinners. We have 15 years experience as contract operators. We tailor the offering, service and design to each venue and client. We pride ourselves on being sustainable operators while delivering a profit at the same time. We find the neighborhood and ambitions of The JACX well aligned with MeyersUSA. We are positive that Great Northern Markets is the right operating partner.
