Mizzou Community & Alumni Leadership Network Highlights Leaders of Influence in Springfield Area Springfield City Manager Speaking Nov. 3 SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — November marks the third year of the Mizzou Community and Alumni Leadership Network. At the network's noon meeting on Wednesday, Nov 3, the guest speaker is Jason Gage, Springfield city manager. On August 1, 2018, Jason Gage became the City of Springfield's 13th city manager. He is responsible for approximately 2,300 full- and part-time employees, a $315 million annual budget, and $1.4 billion in assets. Gage holds a master's degree in public administration from the University of Missouri. The leadership network is open to all Mizzou alumni and residents of Greene County that want to learn from some of the foremost leaders in the Springfield area. Each quarterly meeting includes a free lunch and guest speaker who is also a graduate of the University of Missouri. "Each time we meet, we focus on a Mizzou alum who is leading in the community," said David Burton, county engagement specialist, University of Missouri Extension. "The luncheon is a way to learn what this leader is doing, what they are reading, what they are learning, and what is influencing their efforts." Burton says the goals of the quarterly meeting are simple: 1. Raise the local awareness of the impact of Mizzou alumni on communities in Greene County. 2. Create a regular networking opportunity for Mizzou alumni, supporters, and staff in Springfield and the surrounding areas. 3. Provide a regular, affordable, and convenient leadership development opportunity in Springfield that showcases individuals with Mizzou roots that are exercising leadership skills in a way that positively impacts our community.
