tropicalheat

Key West will reach fever pitch during Tropical Heat, a long weekend of adventurous adult fun for gay men and their friends. Sultry temperatures make August the perfect month for the planned events including those that are clothing optional. Because Key West’s Womenfest is scheduled Sept. 2-9, less than a month after Tropical Heat, the Heat schedule features opening and closing parties for men and women, with all other events for men. These are expected to include swimsuit-optional pool parties, a feisty fetish bash, an underwear (or not!) party, gay guesthouse tour, private VIP lounge and much more. Organizers advise Tropical Heat attendees to bring along some powerful sunscreen to ward off burns — because a sizzling good time is virtually guaranteed. For more feverinducing details, including an event schedule and purchase information for all-access passes, visit TropicalHeatKW.com.

High Heel Shoe Drop as seen on CNN! The annual lowering of the red high heel shoe attracted the attention of CNN and has made Key West one of the top places in the world to ring in the New Year. Instead of shivering in Manhattan, join the jubilant crowd around the 700 block of Duval Street gathered in shorts – or even less – to watch Key West’s famous drag queen Sushi descend in the giant high heel shoe during the countdown to 2009 from the top of Bourbon Street Pub to the partygoers on the street below. When the shoe touches down at midnight, champagne corks will pop and the confetti will fly to officially welcome 2009, but this is by far not the only way to celebrate the New Year in Key West. Enjoy time on the water, fine dining restaurant packages, other street parties lowering a host of Key West themed objects and characters, fireworks, dancing and much more.

key west

is a totally unique destination in all the world. This historic haven for pirates, wreckers and rumrunnners has been a traditional vacation spot for gay and lesbian travelers who want to relax and feel completely at home. We even hosted the world’s longest rainbow flag during PrideFest 2003, stretching it out from the Gulf of Mexico to the Atlantic Ocean, as a symbol of our all-inclusive and welcoming attitude. If you’ve never been to Key West... what are you waiting for?

It’s easy to get here...

All major airlines offer fast, direct service from Miami, Ft. Lauderdale, Atlanta and Orlando. For more info, call 1-877-724-5247 or, outside the U.S., call (305) 294-4603 or write to: Key West Business Guild, P.O. Box 1208, Key West, FL 33041. You can also visit our website at: www.gaykeywestfl.com, or e-mail us at: keywestgay@aol.com. Or even better, visit us when you are in Key West at 513 Truman Avenue.

We look forward to welcoming you to our amazing tropical island!
