Timber Valley Home

Page 1

Situated in the hills above the Columbia Gorge, this

Timber Valley home is perfectly located, only 27 miles from Hood River and 88 miles east of Portland. The cabin was built in the late 1970s by David

Needham and his son over the summer of 1978, with the help of local skilled carpenters..

The property covers 14 forested acres, including a

fresh water pond fed by a mountain spring. There’s a stunning view of Mount Adams from large picture windows on both the first and second floors, and

access to miles and miles of hiking and skiing trails in the area.

For other outdoor pursuits, the cabin is only 35 miles south of the Mount Adams Recreation area and 60 miles north of the Mount Hood National Forest.

The Columbia Gorge offers an amazing variety of activities. You can “shop in locally owned stores, peruse locally grown fruit and produce at the many farmers markets, raft free-flowing rivers, watch the windsurfers, visit artists in their studios, walk gentle paved trails or summit Mount Adams. Whatever your choice, in the Gorge there is something for everyone.” (courtesy of columbiagorgewine.com)

• Wine tasting abounds throughout the gorge, and is referred to as “World of Wine in 40 miles.” There are 30 wineries and over 45 vineyards located in the gorge, most within 45 minutes of Timber Valley. • just 13 miles from the mouth of the Klickitat River for world class salmon and steelhead fishing. • bird watchers and photographers are drawn to this area by all of the birds migrating through. One of the largest migrations of the sand crane happens just 9 miles north in Glenwood at the Conboy Wildlife refuge. • mountain biking on the many local biking trails and the famous (to the locals) Syncline and Hospital Hill bike trails. For the more mellow adventurer there are also many hiking trails, like the beautiful wildflower filled Catherine Creek trail area.
