IN THE PHOTOGRAPHIC SERIES I WENT OUT AT NIGHT TO CAPTURE LONG EXPOSURE IMAGES OF PASSING BY CARS. I HAVE EDITED THE IMAGES TO ISOLATES THE LIGHT TRAILS. THE INTENSITY OF THE LIGHT TRAILS WERE HEAVILY INFLUENCE BY THE NUMBERS OF CARS PASSING BY AT THE TIME OF THE IMAGE BUT ALSO THE AMBIENT LIGHT FROM THE SURROUNDING ENVIRONMENT. THE TRAILS HAVE A STRUCTURE BASED ON THE ROAD THEY DRIVE ON. WE CAN CLEARLY SEE FLUIDITY IN THE MOVEMENT OF THE CARS. THE SERIES TOOK PLACE IN THE WELLINGTON CENTRAL BUSINESS DISTRICT.

COMPUTER MODELING + CLAY RENDER

MY MAIN FOCUS FOR THIS SERIES WAS THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN STRUCTURES AND THE SKY. I WAS LOOKING UP HIGHRISES WHEN DECIDING ON WHAT TO CAPTURE FOR MY IMAGES. ADDING A BLACK AND WHITE FILTER ISOLATES THE IMAGE INTO A WHOLE AND WE CAN DIFFERENTIATE THE TEXUTRE AND PATTERNS FROM THE SIMPLE GRADIENT OF THE SKY. I THOUGHT THE HEIGHT OF THE STRUCTURE CONTRIBUTED TO THE INTENSITY OF THE LIGHT AND HENCE THE GRADIENTS WE SEE IN THE IMAGES. THIS JOURNEY OCCURED IN THE WELLINGTON CENTRAL BUSINESS DISTRTRICT.

A PHOTOGRAPHIC JOURNEY

FOR THIS SERIES MY FOCUS WAS PRIMARILY ON THE INTERACTION BETWEEN LIQUIDS AND SOLIDS. I VENTURED INTO THE BUSH RESERVE LOCATED IN THE NEWLANDS SUBARB WHICH IS WHERE I LIVE. THE TOPOGRAPHY OF THE AREA HAS FORMED MANY WATERWAYS IN THE AREA OVER YEARS. USING LONG EXPOSURE PHOTOGRAPHY I WAS ABLE TO CAPTURE THE GHOSTLY, SMOOTH MOVEMENTS OF DIFFERENT NATURAL WATER SOURCES. A THOUGHT THAT CAME TO MIND WHEN ANALYSING THE PHOTO’S WAS THE PHASE BETWEEN THE SOLIDFICATION OF LIQUIDS AND HENCE THE NAME GIVEN FOR THIS SERIES.
