The love that was always here, with an increased touch of professionalization You all know events are in Spain’s DNA. From world-famous colourful celebrations (Pamplona’s running of the bulls, Valencia’s fallas, Andalucian Easter processions amongst others) to a love for life, food, celebration (many city halls even have a department just dedicated to celebrations), it is clear that Spain loves events, and events love Spain. Many planners who have brought their rotating event to this amazing country have experienced it: attendance is almost always up, as people are attracted to a destination full of life, colour, fun, top gastronomy and creativity. But the country is not merely about celebrating: the last few years have seen it becoming very serious when it comes to professional event management. Here are a few trends in that respect. First, professional associations have flourished recently and collaborate to bring up the profile of events. There used to be associations for PCOs, DMCs, as well as MPI, SITE and ICCA… but recently large associations of event agencies (AEVEA) and corporate clients (EMA) have grown and help spread best practices. AEVEA even created with the Spanish procurement association AERCE a guide on event purchasing. These groups making up the event industry are collaborating with a view to help bring what has been lacking in Spain: a clear body of knowledge, clear ways of managing events and professional profiles. This goes hand in

hand with a recent explosion of schools dedicated to event management, bringing into the industry better-trained people and providing continued education. Another change has been a craze of mergers and acquisitions, with many key event agencies (Sorensen, Staff, EDT, Grass Roots Group…) as well as event-intensive communication agencies (Comunica+A, Shackleton…) being acquired recently. A way to recognize that events are no more a “ma and pa business” where all depends on the founder, but a serious activity which can bring to other larger players access to a key know-how in modern business: live communication. This professionalization can be seen in a very simple indicator: the amazing strength of Spain in mega events which make us all dream. Top European congresses like cardiology, respiratory, rheumatology, oncology, as well as behemoth CPHI, top corporate events like HP Discover or Gartner conference as well as (of course) the Mobile World Congress (the more important professional event in the world?). And this is not stopping, with top audiovisuals show ISE moving from its Dutch house to Barcelona. Such is the success that both IFEMA and Fira Barcelona are expanding their (already huge) facilities. Behind this success is the fact that these very demanding planners get in Spain great facilities and first-class service (you don’t retain those guys with nice gastronomy and good climate…). COMMUNITY OF MADRID Madrid is one of the most open cities in Europe and is bursting with creativity. It has long been a sleeping giant, but the third largest city in the European Union has clearly woken up in the last few years and is on a roll when it comes to meetings, incentives, exhibitions and conferences. Fun, dynamic and with some of the best nightlife in the world.The opening of new hotels for meetings will strengthen the appeal of the city, with brands such as the Hyatt and Four Seasons. Madrid has air connections with more than 70 countries and more 200 direct flights daily. And if your guests are shopping-addicts, they will be glad to be in the second best city in Europe for shopping, with 46,267 stores. Gastronomy is another star of Madrid, which has 21 Michelin-star restaurants and 46 gastronomic spaces and markets.

What’s new? El Sol, the Ibero-American Festival of Advertising Communication, will be held on the 6th and 7th of June 2019 at the Teatro Circo Price in Madrid – the first time it will be held outside of its San Sebastian base in 25 years. The 34th edition of this multimedia festival will be the meeting point for Ibero-American creativity with an international scope. In October, CPHI Worldwide, the world’s largest pharmaceutical industry event, will arrive at IFEMA, bringing together 2,500 companies from the pharmaceutical sector and 36,000 professionals from 153 countries. Presentation of the new Mazda3 with “clandestine” and exclusive micro-events. The Japanese car brand chose Madrid and DHM Comunicación (Grupo Pacífico) for the European launch of the Mazda3. Under the concept “The Feeling Factory”, seven “clandestine” and exclusive micro-events were created to surprise more than 300 Mazda fans. A journey through the senses to the heart of the Mazda brand, the Harley Sales Space was turned into a secret factory where guests participated in an immersive experience around the brand: the KODO design, the colour and the union between car and driver (JinbaIttai). Each event was aimed at a certain audience profile: fans from the general public, press members specialised in motor and lifestyle, influencers, car dealers and Mazda employees – none of them had any idea that they were going to see the car at the end. Everything began with an interpretation of craftsmanship, then a presentation on colour, and finally, the symbiosis between car and driver as interpreted through a choreographic performance. After the performances, the Mazda3, which had appeared already in Los Angeles, was unveiled, much to the surprise of the audience, as nobody knew that it had already arrived in Europe. “It was a challenge to find a way to surprise the target audiences that experience the brand from such different perspectives,” explains Santiago del Hierro, general director at DHM Comunicación (Grupo Pacífico). Dell Technologies Forum: bringing together data and humanity. The human and emotional aspects are also important in technology. And in Pavilion 5 of IFEMA, some 2,000 attendees experienced technology and much more, with the event kicking off with a quartet playing Vivaldi’s Summer live. In line with Dell’s internal campaign “Building a Legacy of Good”, CSR was a major feature of the conference. At the plastic-free event, the Eldevives Foundation had a stand to promote its “Don’t stay quiet, talk about it” campaign focused on child protection; while the NGO Abrazo Animal brought along some dogs and the owners that were encouraged to adopt them. “This stirred huge feelings in the attendees, and that was appreciated. There are things that surprise, that excite, that transmit very positive values about the brand” as well as encouraging networking and creating a very positive and relaxing atmosphere, said Pedro Fernández de Córdoba, marketing director of Dell EMC. Attendees could also play with a Scalextric while relaxing on a lounger or unwind with a massage in the massage room. With the strong trend in marketing to target very specific groups, Dell organised the “Women in Technology” themed lunch, where seven directors and the CEO of the company spoke to the 200 attendees about diversity and inclusion. There were also talks given in four parallel rooms, a specific event for managers as well as the final closing party.

A conference with groundbreaking scenographies. Customer-centrism was the protagonist at the 33rd AECOC Congress, the largest forum of the Consumer Goods sector in Spain. The event was held at the Palacio de Congresos in Madrid and brought together more than 1,000 top executives from industry and distribution. The agency Trílope created the concept and an almost operatic setting with an industrial aesthetic. The key premise: put the focus on the consumer. For this, a library was built where all the useful information was stored, as if it were a supermarket serving the needs of the consumer. This theatrical composition allowed the establishment of a parallel between the era of economic and cultural splendour of the twentieth century and the current digital revolution that offers ample new opportunities. The reception desk became the lectern; a spiral staircase led up to the administration floor, one of the three accesses through which orators appeared. In the aptly named Center of Knowledge, a 13-metre LED screen functioned as a window where the novelties of the sector were presented through videos that explained the origins and future of AECOC: sustainability and competitiveness/innovation and digitalization.

Gastro-tech: gastronomic trips through technology. The connection between gastronomy, technology and the future is served up for diners, as they take a sensory journey through natural and urban landscapes, from New York to Seoul, while tasting a variation of dishes inspired by different countries. An innovative gourmet experience where the values of the brand are also presented. Amadeus celebrated its gala dinner with a light show and experiential gastronomy on the occasion of T3CH, the first technology event on the transformation of future travel. Agency Eteria MRP organised the event for about 300 guests who enjoyed a very unique sensory dinner: a journey around the world that connected technology and gastronomy in a digitally immersive experience, where 3D and HD images appeared on dining tables using table-mapping technology created by Lumentium. The gastronomic part of the experience was handled by Life Gourmet Catering, who designed a customised menu for the show. At the end of the dinner, a 50x40-metre ‘Architectural Mapping’ (the largest in Europe) was projected onto the inner façade of the Palacio de Cibeles.

Flamenco and technology at SingularityU Spain Summit. This technology meeting brought together more than 1,000 people to listen to international experts from Singularity University, whose headquarters is located at the NASA Research Centre in Silicon Valley. This global community of innovation and learning is focused on the use of the latest technologies to solve the planet’s greatest challenges and to build a better future for all – technologies such as AI, blockchain, robotics, nanotechnology, IoT, and biotechnology. beon. Entertainment was put in charge of the performance that kicked off the convention: a flamenco show with a technological twist, where LED lights shone from the dancers costumes. In addition, the agency created a musical arrangement with the voice of the flamenco singer Antonio Carmona, along with the sounds of the box-thumping and clapping (typical in flamenco) of his etc. It was a performance based on a very contemporary style of flamenco, where the unique costumes, designed especially for the occasion, were a great surprise for the attendees. Getonboard, technology in the fuel sector. This convention organised by the event agency SCP en Matadero Madrid was attended by 280 people, with 25,000 more following via online streaming from more than 37 countries. The objective was to present the new Strategic Plan to the managers of a fuel company at a global level and in a different way in the Matadero Madrid space. For the two-day event a unique space was created using the latest technologies: 3D mapping creating a 360º environment in the main building, surround sound, robotic lighting, remote-controlled cameras, and 14 Barco UDX 4K laser projectors and 6x2.5-metre LED screens. An exhibition was also set up with different stands showing the applications of technological advances in the fuel sector, such as the use of multi-copter drones to repair facilities, robotics, blockchain technology, augmented reality to test rock samples, virtual applications for SMA, and RFID technology in refineries – a whole tech universe for this convention that closed with a gala dinner in Florida Park.

150th Anniversary of Joselito at the Teatro Real. In Madrid’s impressive Teatro Real, the premium jamón iberico brand celebrated 150 years, where CowEvents made use of the theatre’s grand setting to conceptualise a musical representation of the three dimensions of the Joselito brand: premium quality, pure Spanish essence and international recognition. The 1,500 attendees were treated to an artistic event where three musicians from different fields were united to pay homage to the brand. Flamenco singer Sara Baras, Chinese pianist Haochen Zhang and soprano Ainhoa Arteta represented the Spanish essence, international presence and exclusivity of Joselito products. An audiovisual video-mapping display covered the exterior walls, transforming the façade of the Teatro Real. Cow Events

Wellnesscity tour at the Oriflame convention

This Swedish cosmetics brands outdoes itself at each edition of the ‘CIS Gold Conference’, innovating with the formats, diversifying the spaces and creating unique activities, which were once again in the hands of agency beon.Worldwide, who were daring in their use of guerilla marketing to promote the pride of belonging to the brand. Some 1,200 consultants descended on Madrid for five intense days that began with a welcome party in the Zarzuela race course, where everyone arrived dressed for the occasion. An exclusive space was personalised to the last detail: horses that represented the different services of the company; hospitality areas with photo-call related to the theme of the event, and buffet comprised of the best regional gastronomy. A ‘Wellnesscity Tour’ was organised, which offered the chance to get to know the city in a different way: by discovering the most emblematic corners of the capital while also partaking in a number of health and wellness activities. Attendees wore ‘Silent Disco’ headphones and listened to flamenco fusion melodies to cancel out the chaos and noise of the city, while taking a tour where they encountered actors in period costume that played classical figures from Spanish literature, art and the aristocracy. This leisurely visit was also reinforced with a guerrilla marketing campaign to promote identification with the brand.

Almodovar experience. Another experience from La Ideas de Wendy: the movie director’s success is a result of his circumstances. He started making films during the transitory period between the death of Franco and the development of the progressive/transgressive cultural movement, known as “La Movida”. His movies have their own built-in language and mythology. The group can follow an itinerary and discover places where he has shot his movies. Wine schools

“Rebelión de los Mandiles” is a wine school in the very heart of Madrid. It offers guided tours and wine tasting courses. Its premises are also available for events and private tastings, in addition to a wine cellar with space for 70 people seated and 100 standing.

Benson: a new industrial-style space One of Madrid’s latest venues for events has taken its inspiration from a loft in New York’s Soho. A few meters from the Avenida de América interchange station, its 70m2 makes it ideal for photo-shootings and recordings, in addition to small events, business meetings and lunches or dinners (40 people in cocktail format; 20 seated). For loading and unloading, the venue comes with a 3-meter loading door.

La Casona de Cubas

A period palace for events This historic late-nineteenth century building blends different styles and periods in its architecture, and has become a popular place for events, offering both outdoor and indoor spaces. The venue comprises of two buildings, each with different exterior areas and separate access ways, but that are connected internally. On one side is the Casona de Cubas, which is made up of four rooms (with capacity for 75 pax) and two courtyards: the ‘Patio Fachada Casona’ (200 pax in cocktail format) and the ‘Patio Terraza Casona’ (120 pax in cocktail format). On the other side is the ‘Banquet Building’ (300 pax), the ‘Discoteca’ (350 pax) and the ‘Banquet Building Garden’ (100 pax).

The Carlos Sainz Center has two go-karting circuits in Madrid and Las Rozas, which offer team building experiences. The indoor circuit has 3,000m2 of track full of bends, and your group can be dressed in striking racing suits and made to feel like real racing drivers. The scoreboard next to the finish line displays the results of the races in real time. The track is complemented by large halls totalling up to 500m2. Paintball and mini-golf facilities are also available.

Wanda Metropolitano. Atlético de Madrid football club’s new stadium has 22 multi-purpose areas for meetings (from 250m2 to 3,500m2), an auditorium for 400 people and 11,000m2 of VIP zones and premium suites including 78 VIP private areas with a view to the pitch, amongst other spaces in a stadium definitely conceived for events as well as for sports. It can host cocktail evenings for up to 1,500 people. Grupo eventoplus held its 2019 MICE conference here, with 580 attendees, areas for educational sessions and an exhibition area. In June the stadium will host one of the biggest events on the global sporting calender: the UEFA Champions League final.

Madrid Río

More than one million square metres of eventready recreational space Madrid might not have a beach, but it has a river. The Manzanares River has become the backbone of a new zone in the city known as Madrid Río, a park with more than one million square metres of space ready for a wide range of activities. But the area is not just for outdoor events: the Matadero Madrid Contemporary Art Centre (formerly a slaughterhouse) offers plenty of indoor options. Madrid Río came about as part of a new, more welcoming and sustainable vision of the city based on an urbanism project which put roads underground and brought together historical gardens and urban parks featuring 30,000 new trees, 42km of walking trails, 33 sports fields and a mountaineering school.

The Pestana Plaza Mayor has just opened in Madrid city centre, with four rooms and a wine bar for events of up to 120 people. In June, Riu Plaza España will open its doors and will have 17 meeting rooms for 1,500 people, 5000m2 of facilities and a business centre. October, 2019 sees the launch of the Canalejas Centre Madrid, comprising of a Four Seasons Hotel, 22 luxury residences and a commercial area of 15,000m2 with 50 luxury stores. Beyond cosmopolitan and sophisticated Barcelona, Catalonia has a lot to offer. Home to pioneers, it is a dynamic destination on an industrial and commercial level, and a cradle for great artists like Gaudí and Dalí and renowned chefs like FerránAdrià and Joan Roca. CATALONIA What’s new? The Integrated Systems Events (ISE) space moves to Barcelona in 2021. And the Fira de Barcelona Gran Vía venue will become the permanent headquarters of the world’s largest audiovisual and integrated systems event. ISE 2019, held in Amsterdam in February, saw an increase on the record numbers of the 2018 edition that attracted 80,923 attendees. The Fira de Barcelona has two venues and hosts 140 events a year, with more than 30,000 exhibitors and more than two million visitors. In total, it has about 400,000m2 of exhibition space in its 14 pavilions.

Barcelona With its cosmopolitan and Mediterranean spirit, Barcelona has been an international star since the 1992 Olympics which breathed new life to the city. It hosts the Mobile World Congress, the king of all events, IBTM world, the trade show of our meetings industry, as well as large medical and technological events, sports and cultural events such as the Formula 1 Grand Prix, and the Sonar and Primavera Sound music festivals. The city is consistently in the ICCA top 5 in terms of number of international congresses (and in the last few years, in first place in the number of people attending). It is a destination that supports tourism sustainability with the Barcelona Biosphere, based on the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In addition, in 2019 it will be more connected with new intercontinental flights to Santiago de Chile, Toronto, New York, Mexico City, Chicago and Abu Dhabi. Welcome to a meetings powerhouse!

Mobile World Congress: Barcelona, the world capital of mobile technology. An event to stay up-to-date with the latest technology and a source of inspiration where the biggest brands put on a show at each stand. This is the meeting point of leading technology companies, who aim to highlight and attract attention to their stands with the most innovative staging. Telefónica, for example, had the EDT agency conceptualise and give life to a stand that stood out by adding the human element to the omnipresent power of technology. This year the theme was focused on intelligent connectivity, which allowed for more personalised and contextualised experiences, focusing on what people are and how technology can give value and meaning when integrated into their lives. The agency was inspired by the philosophy of the iconic architect Alvar Aalto to design an intelligent stand that functioned as a living organism, capable of responding to what happened at each moment, intuitively and immediately. A breathing “skin of light” followed and listened to attendees, changing colour depending on the profiles of the visitor that interacted with the demos. The walls responded to the presence of people by reflecting them and drawing their silhouette and by reacting to any important event that took place in the meeting space of the stand, where presentations, demonstrations and many other activities took place. To encourage visitors to participate and explore the different areas, an interactive experience was devised through a game. Visitors wore bracelets equipped with the NFC system (short-range wireless technology) that allowed them to answer questions on each totem enabling their colour profile to be created.

Culture, art and gastronomy at the Markit Summit 2019. An international Estonian company celebrated its achievements at the annual Markit Summit event attended by more than 100 employees. The agency beon.Worldwide organised this event centring around three main concepts: inform, inspire and entertain. For three days, the employees enjoyed the culture, art and gastronomy of Barcelona: visiting the Sagrada Familia, getting to know the its most emblematic spots and taking a private tour of the Camp Nou, where they mounted a 30-meter banner with the company’s logo. They also visited the Caves of Codorniu and experienced the emotion and adrenaline of the Castellers, a tradition rooted in Catalonia. The gala dinner was celebrated at Llotja de Mar, where a tour of the company’s history was made possible through a commemorative exhibition. Estonian bands such as Ewert and The Two Dragons and NÖEP put the final touches to the event.

Abile Corporate Events

An unconventional convention: 2019. The international consultancy brought together some 700 people to celebrate its annual convention with a multi-faceted and multi-site event. Abile Corporate Events was in charge of organising the occasion, mixing the professional nature of the convention with a very local festive touch and surprising attendees with the content and the program of activities. In addition to spaces for meetings and conferences, the most colourful part of the convention were the four dinners, which included shows created by the BTS teams themselves, opera singers, DJs and themed settings – taking place in three different spaces: the Hilton Diagonal Mar, the Maritime Museum of Barcelona and the Cúpula de Las Arenas.

First came the work, then the fun. For the practical part, an expo was set up, using all the rooms of the AC Forum hotel, so that the teams could work in a 100% practical and experiential way. For the theoretical part, plenary sessions were organised at the Hilton Diagonal Mar hotel, which were complemented by 17 specific training workshops. A programme of activities that will make you fall in love with Barcelona. Discover its culture, gastronomy and history with a walking tour from El Born, passing through Santa María del Mar, Plaza Sant Jaume, Plaza Real, Ramblas, Boquería Market, Cathedral and Portal del Angel until you reach Plaza Catalunya. And then the moment of celebration arrived. The first dinner was more of a casual affair: a cocktail welcome event at the Hilton Diagonal Mar hotel. The second was a banquet dinner in the hotel banquet hall, with performances dedicated to the company’s new recruits and new managers. The “main course” was left for the following day: dinner at Atarazanas, headquarters of the Maritime Museum of Barcelona, a building with more than 700 years of history located between the sea and Las Ramblas. The reception saw cava poured into bright LED glasses, before the lights were turned down for an operatic performance by a tenor and soprano. After that came the gourmet dinner. The farewell party was more a unique event at the Cúpula de las Arenas, which was transformed into a spaceship thanks to video mapping set up by Power AV. Before taking off into the future, attendees boarded the spaceship through a tunnel, where they were greeted by waiters dressed as astronauts who offered them a smoky cocktail in the company colours created for the occasion. The atmosphere was futuristic, innovative and technological, but at the same time warm, pleasant, friendly, welcoming – in line with company’s vision of the future.

LD Eventos

Urban Meditation by Rituals, the power of ‘slow’ events. In this hectic world, where the lack of time rules our lives and stress lurks at every corner, ‘slow’ movements have come to help us stop, breathe and reflect. This trend has also permeated in the events sector. ‘Slow’ events have two particularities: silence reigns and attendees spend a lot of time with their eyes closed, as happened at the Urban Meditation by Rituals convention that was held for the first time in Barcelona. LD Eventos, which already has experience organising this type of event, also took charge of the production of Free Yoga by Oysho, which turned Hivernacle del Poble Espanyol into a paradise of peace and relaxation. This initiative was created by Zentro Urban Yoga centres which, with the main sponsor Rituals and with the support of Kevita and Genuine Coconut, created a new concept for a meditation master class – a free and open session that gathered about 500 people in the Hivernacle. All attendees wore the same shirt that was given to them at the entrance (a

powerful image for the brand and for the event); by each yoga mat, attendees found a welcome pack made up of Rituals products and those of other sponsors. They sat around a cubeshaped stage, where teachers guided a group of 20-minute sessions. One focused on movement, another on mindfulness, with meditation and breathing exercises; and a third on sound healing, which was accompanied by the aroma of the brand’s fragrances. It was a chance for guests to enjoy silence, reflect and close their eyes. At the production level, LD Eventos sought a clean, sensorial environment in which the product would shine. The decor for this type of event is usually simple, with natural decoration, dim lighting and warm colours. In this case, the Hivernacle space itself has vegetation on the roof and its transparent structure gives that feeling of comfort and warmth. It offers a cosy atmosphere in which attendees could relax, try the different products at the brand’s stand and experience on oasis of peace.

Barcelona Turisme Convention Bureau

One incentive program delivered by Spanish Heritage DMC in Barcelona was custom-designed for a US-based IT company. The goal was to delight the 400 demanding guests through unusual and authentic activities, smooth organization and a unique event concept. The purpose of the whole event was to make the guests fall in love with Barcelona’s modern and avant-garde spirit, tradition, passion and relationship with the sea. Modern & avant-garde: welcome event at W Barcelona Hotel. On their first evening, the guests were invited to get to know the destination through a cocktail dinner with many things going on at the same time: live graffiti painting, a Spanish dance battle, live music and DJ all through the afternoon and in the evening, guests enjoyed the stunning sunset over the Mediterranean Sea from the hotel’s patio. Tradition: Apart from optional thematic tours and excursions, an iPad game inspired by the Amazing Race concept was designed for the three-hour competition for the teams. The goal was to complete the pop-up challenges from the iPad while exploring the streets of the neighborhood. All the challenges were designed for the participants to get familiar with some of Barcelona’s highlights.

Maritime Night. Picture the old shipyards of Barcelona: dim lights, faint sound of the waves and suddenly... the voice of Neptune, the God of the seas welcomed and invited the guests to dine at his table. During the dinner, the guests could enjoy the sweet and seductive voice of a mermaid, the dance of the water waves, the gentle sound of the harp and fine Mediterranean gastronomy, all honoring Barcelona’s historical link to the sea. Passion at the National Palace. The National Art Museum of Catalonia was the right spot to say “good bye”, with the Magic Fountain bursting into colors just for the group and opera singers filled the atmosphere with their voices when they sang “Barcelona”, a song made famous by Montserrat Caballe and Freddie Mercury. While inside, everyone was carried away by Bizet’s famous opera Carmen, performed by Spanish guitarists and air dancers.

Live the traditions of Penedès (a wine region near Barcelona). Revlon Professional’s Style Masters Show Awards. Coordinated by Abile Corporate Events and with the spectacular staging created by beon.Worldwide, this two-hour show made up of technology, three-dimensional effects, projections and grand theatrics enthralled the more than 4,000 people who experienced it. The success of this show is evident from the awards it has received: two ‘Golds’ at the Bea World Festival, which was held in Coimbra, Portugal (one for best convention and the other for best live entertainment); and the Best Event 2018 at the eighth edition of the Agripina Awards. After travelling to Prague, Amsterdam, Berlin, Budapest, Madrid, Lisbon, Rome, Paris and Brussels, Revlon wanted to take the show to the city that gave birth to the brand in 1979: Barcelona. To celebrate the tenth anniversary of the Style Masters Contest in 2018, Revlon Professional wanted to put on a big event. In pavilion 2 of the Fira de Barcelona, “A Life Changing Event” took place, where the winner of the Global Style Master Award for the best international hairdresser was chosen by 4,000 stylists from 65 countries. The first big challenge for the organisers was adapting the Cirque du Soleil-type show into a corporate event. The other big challenge was to get everything to appear like a great optical illusion. And this was achieved through a projection in the foreground and real movement in the background, so that everything that happened inside the giant prism on the stage was only perceived when the light was projected from the inside, while screens moved up and down, changing the scenery. A pre-production of two and a half months, lasting 20 hours a day, and five days of pre-event assembly performed by a team of about 100 people, gives an idea of the complexity of the show. On the catwalk, three of the faces of the prism (two sides of 33 metres and the front face of 18 meters) were formed by 28 semi-transparent screens, three meters wide and 10 meters long, whose projections moved up and down in accordance with the rhythm of the show.

These screens moved with variable speed motors and were suspended from a system of trusses independent from the rest of the rigging. A fourth screen (12 metres wide by 7 metres high) located at the bottom of the stage managed to create the effect of depth and three dimensions in the projections. This LED Wall had a door through which the models and the rest of the participants entered. The base of the large prism showed 500m2 of projections, using six projectors suspended from the ceiling and connected to a system of synchronised servers, with 150 GB of data being used simultaneously.

New and special venues

Golden Studio. Located in an old textile factory, Golden studio is a three-floor space located close to Las Ramblas and the MACBA. The ground floor is an accessible and large space of 150m2 and 4.5 meters in height bathed in natural light. The second floor is the Golden Apartment, a warm loft space of 142m2 with eight large windows. The third floor is the Golden Loft, and New York-style industrial space of 150m2 with seven large windows and vintage-style decoration. The Art of Living Frigicoll. After the success in Madrid, Frigicoll has opened an industrial and avant-garde-style space in Sant Just Desvern. This versatile and multi-purpose 1.468m2 space is divided into reception areas, a wine bar, show-cooking space, industrial kitchen, office, academy, meeting room, multi-purpose room, auditorium and cloakroom. It also has an exhibition area where the company exhibits its appliances and high-end equipment. The space has a maximum capacity of 350 people. XRoom at the Barceló Sants hotel is a pioneering space for the hotel industry, presenting a new take on the conventional meeting room. Based around an immersive concept, the room can adopt different settings: a soft version which configures the lighting to emit the company’s corporate colours and offers an interactive screen for presentations; or a completely personalised version, with video mapping projections that create scenes such as a galaxy, a forest, the seabed or a more futuristic scenario. For now, the XRoom is only at the Barceló Sants hotel as a pilot project, with the idea of bringing it to other hotels.

The Hospital de Sant Pau is the most important Modernist building in Europe and is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It offers a main hall for 220 people, multipurpose rooms with three modular spaces that, combined, have a total capacity of 100m2 and halls equipped for exhibitions and receptions.

Gaudí lives on! In the last year, two Gaudi buildings started being offered for events: Gaudi Garraf is a 18th century farmhouse equipped for events, with a total of 400m2 and capacity for 320 people. It has several terraces, with a ‘chill-out’ option like the Gaudí Mar for night events of up to 120 people, or the Garraf terrace for 200 people. Another option is Casa Vicens, the Manifesto House of a very young Gaudí which was conceived as a summer villa in the heart of the Gràcia area. In its four floors we find spaces that allow small and medium-sized events, from 20 to 150 people. Espacio IMO. Recently opened to events, the Institute of Microsurgery, at the foot of Mount Tibidabo, has landscaped areas, panoramic views, an auditorium for 300 people and a garden with capacity for 400 people. The 1,400m² space comes with all the necessary technical equipment and offers the possibility of setting up live links between the auditorium and the IMO operating rooms to show ambulatory surgeries in action. It is an ideal space for courses, congresses or meetings of a scientific nature.


La Rectoría de Godmar

A small church for events Only 68 km from Barcelona, this medieval 12th century complex consists of a small church and a set of recently recovered spaces for events, rehabilitated with a modern design that contrasts with the rural style of the complex. This unique space, equipped with light and sound equipment that enhances its charm, has capacity for 200 attendees. It also offers the Godmar room, a modern creation, with capacity for 225 people.

In 2019, Occidental Diagonal 414 opens on Avenida de la Diagonal, in front of the modernist icon of La Casa de les Punxes. And Nuñez and Navarro will inaugurate Seventy House, a Mediterranean-style house located between the elegance of Paseo de Gracia and Barrio de Gracia.

Tarragona boasts a Roman settlement with World Heritage Site status. The city has good transport links and is less than an hour from Barcelona. It holds the Tarraco Viva festival, which presents the history of ancient Rome and the meeting of Mediterranean civilizations. Another event that attracts huge crowds is the biggest ‘castellers’ (human tower) competition in the world. Tarragona will host the XVIII Mediterranean Games from June 22nd to July 1st 2018, with 4,000 athletes from 33 disciplines, 1,000 journalists, 3,500 volunteers and more than 150,000 spectators. Along its 15-kilometre coastline, you can organize a cocktail on a yacht or a convention at PortAventura. Ten minutes away from Tarragona, this convention centre overlooks the sea and golf courses. SEAT presents the Tarraco at the Tarraco Arena. The excitement began with the participatory contest, #SEATbuscanombre, to find a name for the brand’s latest model. And the result of this search ended with the presentation of the new SEAT Tarraco in the city from which it has borrowed its name: Tarragona. Parafina Comunicación and beon.Worldwide were in charge of this global event, overseeing a large assembly at the Tarraco Arena Plaça (TAP), a multi-purpose space that was once a bullring. In the circular ring space, two huge screens (27 x 9 meters) were mounted, dividing the sand into two zones. The guests first arrived at the Cocktail Zone, where they all got a taste of SEAT’s new values, which combine freshness and Mediterranean and urban youth, with sophistication, elegance and warmth. Large posters and messages on canvas and neon lighting served as teasers for the subsequent communication campaign. After the welcome cocktail, a video began the opening of two gates through which the attendees entered the Reveal Zone. Behind the screen two ramps emerged that represented the dual character of the SEAT Tarraco: one, urban asphalt; and the other, an off-road surface with surrounding vegetation. The images of the car on the screen preceded the two cars themselves coming down the ramps. Dim lighting and music accompanied the movement of the two cars as they crossed the tunnels, climbed back up the ramps and disappeared behind the screen, before eventually aligning themselves in front of the guests as the music reached full climax. The lights went on and the new SEAT Tarraco was unveiled to the 1,000 attendees, who were able to come down into the ring to take pictures and see the car up close. This event went on for two more days to present the car to the guests of Residual Value and the Seat Spain Dealer Network.

Everama

BASF presents its new products in event at Tarragona’s fish market. The company presented a new plant and line of chemical products aimed at the agri-food sector, and explained them to the press using a game. To get the journalists to understand the importance of BASF products in our food supplies, agency Everama built three different supermarkets – one set in current times, one set in 2030 and one set in 2050 – and got the journalists to go grocery shopping. It was a way for the journalists to experience what fresh food shortages could be like in a few decades, if we don’t use BASF products. Later the journalists took their ingredients and cooked them in the Fish Market of Tarragona, with the help of a chef.

Swimming with dolphins is a well-known activity. But what about swimming with giant tuna fish? Costa Dorada Experience has created an adventure that will take you to feed and swim among hundreds of wild red tunas, measuring about 2.5 meters and weighing about 250kg. And you can relax because there is no chance of danger: you will be given plenty of safety guidelines so that you can enjoy the experience without fear. Back on the catamaran boat you will see able to see photos that the divers have taken during the activity, while enjoying a taste of Balfegó red tuna. This experience can be completed with Kaitai, the traditional Japanese way of cutting red tuna, where a Japanese master will show you this choreographed art form on the beach of the Puerto de Calafat or at the Les Veles restaurant.

Girona - Costa Brava The combination of the sea and the mountains is the distinguishing feature of Girona’s gastronomy, but if we add that this area has eight natural parks, Roman ruins, 220km of Mediterranean coastline (the Costa Brava), beaches, volcanoes, lakes, mountain ranges and the legacy of Salvador Dalí, you get an idea of all that this destination has to offer.

Girona plays the Game of Thrones

One of the images most captured on camera in Girona is that of its colored buildings along the river. Because of its size, it is possible to explore the Jewish quarter and the embankment on foot, and stop for an aperitif on one of the terraces of its squares. Girona is only 30 km from the Costa Brava, 80 km from the French border, and 100 km from Barcelona, which can be reached by the AVE high speed train in 37 minutes, and Paris in five and a half hours. It also has an airport.

Perhaps these are the most famous stairs in Spain... made famous by one of the most popular TVshows on the planet: the sixth season of Game of Thrones was filmed in Girona, recognition of the authentic medieval character of the city, of which Girona now takes advantage to offer team building activities with a Lannister flavor. After eight months of planning with 78 suppliers and 170 participants, this team building initiative organized by MarcaCondal was intended to lead participants on a journey into the world of clans and the battle for power, all with a pinch of fantasy. The convention was set in the city of Girona, where part of the series was shot. Participants were accommodated in the city and the chosen setting was, of course, the medieval castle. To recreate the series, the organizers planned dynamic activities, put up elaborate decorations and wrote scripts for participants. The future of their companies depended on their performance! The morning session was reserved for corporate meetings. Afterwards, the participants got changed at the hotel and set out towards the cathedral in their attire.Upon arrival, they were greeted by medieval music, a gastro-themed cocktail and mingled with Khalesshi, Jon Snow with his wolves, Ygrid, Khal Drogo and the shortest of the Lannisters, followed by the first test where bets were collected between clans and knights with bronze coins. The teams had to bargain and strike a deal. After that, more tests followed, which were arranged according to the company’s needs: in Film Set, participants were asked to set up and shoot a scene under the stage manager’s guidance; in Winterfell Games they had to compete in sword fights, javelin throwing and a tug-of-war; and in Wall Towers they built human towers with three levels.

TastEmotion presents the eno-grastronomic offerings of the Costa Costa Brava-Pirineo de Girona region, with a tasting experience made up of five dishes prepared by the Michelin-star chef Quim Casellas (of Casamar de Llafranc Restaurant) and five Empordà wines. Table-mapping, projections on surrounding screens, a sound story, aromatic effects, and piped music make this a truly sensory gourmet food and wine experience. An exclusive format for 20 people that allows you to fully experience the destination, the concept has been presented in London, Paris, Munich and Milan.

Can you find a piece of Venice on the Costa Brava? Yes, you can in Empuriabrava, which is the closest thing to the city of the canals, with more than 24 kilometres of waterways navigable by boat, sailboat or yacht. This is one of the authentic activities offered by the destination, but there are many more, and for all types of tastes. An interesting sequence of incentive trips by agency Unit Elements for 30 guests: the first evening, they visited the Peralada Castle, with private access to its famous library and the internal exhibition in the monastery. Right after, they had a poker experience in what is the only casino inside a castle (the casino lets groups organize games with no money involved). When they finished, they went to the casino's restaurant to enjoy the dinner prepared by Xavier Sagristà and Toni Gerez, chef and sommelier who worked at the Bulli.The next day, they enjoyed a balloon flight to get a bird's eye view of Empuriabrava. From there, they went to eat in a chill out tent with food trucks and, later, thanks to Skydive Empuriabrava, they trained the attendants in a wind tunnel to jump in tandem from a plane and a helicopter. After this rush of adrenaline came the end of this exciting experience: a dinner at Mas Marroch, prepared bychef Joan Roca. Discovering the series’ shooting locations is an original way to discover medieval Girona, the Jewish quarter and the colorful houses of the old neighborhood, while working as a team and having fun. Regatta in the Medes Islands: The Estartit Sailing Club organizes regattas in the Montgrí Natural Park, the Medes Islands and the Baix Ter. The activity consists of a briefing with instructions on land and the competition at sea. Night of traditions, habaneras and cremat or daiquiri: Learn to make a cremat (or a daiquiri, in the case of Lloret de Mar). While each group prepares their own, the lyrics of a well-known habanera song have to be changed to refer to one of the meeting's targets, with the help of musicians. A great way to experience the colonial heritage of Catalonia.

Finding time to work in nature has become an attraction for those who spend most of their day (and life) in an office. Take a "forest bath" and leave behind your worries to connect with nature, with yourself and with the group; or take a walk in the forest based on the original Japanese practice of ‘Shinrin-yoku’. Fil Mediterranean Travel Designers, with the help of an NGO, organises this activity that will improve your team’s well-being while you also collaborate on research for the cure of degenerative neurological diseases and forest preservation. ‘Arrozicleta’: Learn to grow, savor and eat rice. First, enjoy a bike ride on a stylish Burricleta (electric bike) through the rice plantations, and then get to know the product, its origins and its cultivation at first hand. With the help of a chef specialized in rice, it is cooked and then enjoyed.

From Earth to Table: In the Gavarres Natural Reserve, on the Costa Brava, is the Bell Lloc farm offering samplings of wines and home-produced oils, winery visits and a picnic with organic produce. 05

Team building with the regatta of "llagutcatalà". The origin of the regatta in the Catalan coast comes from the fishermen who used the "llaguts", boats of eight oarsmen and a helmsman, to reach the fish market earlier and fix the price of the fish. Sevilla

Seville, the capital of the region is an established meetings destination. Its air connections have improved significantly in recent years; while the AVE high-speed train connects it with Madrid. It also has a thriving river port popular with cruise ships. In terms of meetings infrastructure, the Fibes Conference and Exhibition Centre was recently completed, offering an enormous, brand new congress centre. Events that have chosen Seville 19th World Travel and Tourism Council Summit. In April the 19th edition of the World Travel and Tourism Council Summit was held in Seville, which was attended by some 1,500 professionals and had Barack Obama as a main speaker. The summit utilised several iconic spaces in the city, such as the Real Maestranza Bullring and the Casino de la Exposición to host receptions. The 19th World Travel and Tourism Council Summit awards gala for industry best practices was held at the Antiquarium, while a sectorial council on tourism took place at San Telmo Palace. Other activities included ministerial dialogues at Los Venerables Hospital, a networking session at Casa Guardiola, and a WTTC executive committee meeting at the City Council. The official reception was held at the Real Alcázar.

Seville has always been a city of conquests. In fact, one of the greatest conquests in history, the discovery of America, originated here, as it was the site where Magellan set out on his journey around the world. What will be next for the city? Well, in 2019, coinciding with the celebration of the fifth centenary of that first trip round the world, the Seville will host the summit of the European Space Agency in November. Around this summit, many forums and thematic events on space and aeronautics will take place, consolidating the city’s leadership in the aeronautics industry, in which it is active through Aerópolis, an industrial complex that manufactures the Airbus A400M. In the Plaza de España, one of the most iconic spaces in Seville, the gala dinner was served by Abades Catering under a transparent octagonal tent so that guests could enjoy the surrounding architectural marvels as they dined.

Málaga - Costa del Sol What’s new? ‘SUTUS 2019’ Space & Underwater Tourism Universal Summit. In September, Marbella will host the world’s first space and underwater tourism event – a pioneering meeting in Spain that is being organised by Medina Media Events and promoted by Les Roches. Malaga has been named the European Capital of Sports 2020 by ACES Europe (Association of European Capitals and Cities of Sport) and is set to host the most important cruise fair in the world: the Setra de Med. The technology sector will hold the largest European robotics event: the European Robotics Forum (ERF) that will bring together a thousand experts to discuss developments in fields related to artificial intelligence. Another highlight event at the European level will be CEDI 2020, the sixth Spanish Informatics Congress.

One of the powerhouses of Spain tourism with its upscale resorts, golf clubs and shopping areas, Costa del Sol has a vast offering for meetings. Malaga has become one of Spain’s cultural Meccas, with an explosion of museums and the recent opening of no fewer than 36 cultural centres for events. The Pompidou (‘El Cubo’), in the port of Malaga and the Museum of Russian Art in the former ‘Tabacalera’ building are the latest to come to the city and are two of the best options for meetings. Malaga’s cultural identity is especially vibrant in March when it hosts the Malaga Spanish film festival. At the European Capital of Smart Tourism 2019, Malaga has been awarded as a European Smart Accessibility Destination – in recognition of its innovative and intelligent development of sustainable and inclusive tourism. Lexus chose the city of Malaga to carry out various promotional activities. At the Palace of Fairs and Congresses, the company presented its new UX and LS models, and also made its European presentation of the new Lexus ES 300h saloon and the Coupe Premium Lexus RC 300h. The three-week event gathered 350 journalists from 35 European countries. A final example we have of a presentation organised by the 7 Worlds agency was for the new Suzuki Swift Sport model, a back-to-back event that attracted some 300 international journalists to Malaga. The attendees were picked up at the airport by several Yellow Champion models that formed a striking caravan of vehicles, serving as a nod to the origin of the Suzuki Works model that participated in the World Rally Championship.

International airport, roads that meander between sea and mountains, together with a climate that encourages you to enjoy driving under the sun, make the Costa del Sol one of the preferred destinations for car presentations. This was the case for German company Audi, which brought together 3,200 directors of 120 nationalities at the Adolfo Suárez Palace of Congresses and Fairs in Marbella for the global presentation of the new E-tron model. LA Organic Experience is an olive oil tourism project in Ronda, which encompasses culture, nature and gastronomy around olive oil production, where you will learn about the olive harvest, see the production process in an oil mill and take part in an oil tasting. This itinerary between olive groves and vineyards begins in the Greenhouse (150 people), which houses an artisanal mill, a bottling plant and a labelling machine. Afterwards you will visit the orchard and the organic vineyard, before ending the tour with a tasting of organic products.

Nilva in the town of Manilva offers a workshop called ‘Senses, an initiation to wine tasting’ and activities related to the training of the senses of sight, smell and taste for wine tasting. And from Manilva to Nerja you can travel 180km along the La Senda Litoral coastline, enjoying views of the Cantales de La Araña, the Peñón del Cuervo, Punta Chullera in Manilva, las Dunas de Artola, as well as 42 battle towers and the Phoenician sites of Vélez Malaga.

TA Incentivos proposes a route through the historic districts of Granada: the Sacromonte and the Albaicín, ending in the center of the city. The group will start in San Miguel Alto, following a descent down a path until reaching the Interpretation Center of the Caves of Sacromonte. After the visit, they continue to the Sacromonte neighborhood and make a stop at Pepiro'sMirador, where Pepe's "chiringuito" (traditional café) is located, and where they try sangria while listening to Spanish guitar. The route continues through the narrow streets until the Albaicín, where they can visit a bakery to try tea and traditional sweets. They continue with avisit to the Plaza Larga Market, passing through the famous Arco de Las Pesas and arriving at the Mirador de San Nicolás. After lunch, they begin the journey to the center through the old Arab souk, stopping at some of the craft stalls. The route ends at Plaza Nueva in the center and with a connection to the Alhambra, the next visit for those who wish to continue on with the route.

An original olfactory tour organized by Walk in Granada that allows you to immerse yourself in an authentic experience, transporting you to different places and eras of Granada’s history through specifically designed fragrances. Once the route is completed, each participant will take home a kit containing the fragrances discovered during the route. Another option is The Patio de los Perfumes that offers a true olfactory scent experience that lets you create your own perfume from natural ingredients. Throughout the museum, traditional patio and private rooms, guests can discover the history of perfume and their best creations.

On the border of Europe and Africa lies Cadiz, a city known as "Havana Chica" due to its similarities with the Cuban capital (as is evident by the walk from La Caleta to Campo del Sur, which is reminiscent of the boardwalk of Havana). It is a region of cinema, flamenco art and carnavalera grace, where you will find idyllic beaches, white villages, protected areas, sand dunes and marshes and an ideal location for cultural, gastronomic or sporting activities. A multi-experience convention. The Aser Company chose the province of Cadiz to organise its convention. Creativando was in charge of this event for more than 100 people, whose main headquarters was the Parador de Cadiz. All the activities were created to allow them experience the destination and culture of Cadiz. On day one they visited the tuna factory in Barbate to see how el ronqueo is made, before which they stopped to have breakfast on the beach while watching a horse dance to Arabic-flamenco music. In order get to know Cadiz, they used the Cadiz Experience app to find historical places and discover more about anecdotes about the city. They also enjoyed the gastronomy with dinners each day at different iconic sites, such as the González Byass winery, where they were able to take a tour and taste their wines; and in the lighthouses of Puerto de Santa María and Cadiz. Another impressive activity was a balloon trip through Arcos de la Frontera to discover the destination from a bird’s-eye views. La Ruta de los Pueblos Blancos is a journey through the whitewashed villages of Cadiz, which you will discover the Grazalema blanket factory to see how the blankets are made, the Zahara mill in the Sierra de Oleum Viride Sierra to learn about the production of olive oil, as well as leatherwork artisans in Ubrique.


Huelva

Córdoba

Cordoba’s mosque is a must as one of the most important Islamic monuments in the West and one of the most beautiful in the world. In the city of Roman, Arab and Jewish culture, you will be amazed by the beautiful courtyards filled with pots and flowers (there is even the Festival of the Patios that is organised around them), the Arab baths, the Medina Azhora (Madinat al-Zahra archaeological site), and other magical sites.

The Tartessians, Phoenicians and Romans have all left their legacy on Huelva. But if there is a historical event that has left its mark most on this region, it is the commencement of Christopher Columbus’ famous voyage in 1492, which set off from the port of Palos de la Frontera. If you want to learn more about the story, you can visit the Muelle de las Carabelas with its replicas of La Pinta, La Niña and Santa María. Jamón de Jabugo is one of the area’s gems, which can be paired perfectly with a Vino del Condado de Huelva.

Discovering the Sephardic legacy for teambuilding

The agency Over Limit designed a teambuilding where 40 people learned about Sephardic traditions with the help of an expert. First, they visited Casa Sefarad in the heart of the Jewish quarter. Later, they visited a 14th-century Mudejar mansion where they read an ancient manuscript and found clothing, dresses, trousseau, jewellery and decorations to dress up as a character of the era. Later they enjoyed a bath and massage at a hammam accompanied by Arabic tea.

The Camino Rociero walk is a deeply rooted tradition, and you can make this pilgrimage to the Ermita del Rocío with a trip organised by Thursa. In horse-drawn carriages, you will travel along the final kilometres of the famous Raya Real route until you reach the village of Almonte, crossing Doñana National Park, where you will enjoy a traditional lunch; while the Rociero Choir will accompany you throughout the tour.

Incentive in Madrid passing through Córdoba. A Spanish insurance company based in Brazil wanted to recognise the work of 350 agents with an event that would lead them to discover the essence of the city of Cordoba. KeyDM Spain managed this trip in which they used the AVE (highspeed train) as their private chartered transport to travel from Madrid to Cordoba. The train coach was personalised and on each seat, the guests found a gift from the company. Once at the destination, they visited the Royal Stables and enjoyed a private show, after which they took a walking tour of the most iconic streets of the historic centre, stopping for lunch to enjoy the Andalusian cuisine at El Bandolero restaurant, which was exclusively reserved for the group. After lunch, they took a guided tour of the Mosque-Cathedral and enjoyed time for shopping before returning on AVE to Madrid.

Va l e n c i a Where else in the world will you find a city whose inhabitants dedicate months to building huge and carefully elaborated figurines which they then burn on a single night of madness (during the Las Fallas festival)? Valencia is cheerful and special, and definitely worth considering for colorful events. Valencia’s size makes it easy and practical to get around: it is 7km from the airport; in 15 minutes you can be in a country house surrounded by orange trees; you can go to the beach without leaving the city; and often you can just walk from the venue to the hotel. Its air connections, which were one of the city’s handicaps, are improving, with new flights to Copenhagen, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Budapest, Marseilles and Milan. The city is also connected to the high-speed train

network. In addition, its Palacio de Congresos has been chosen by the International Association of Conference Centres (AIPC) as the Best Conference Centre in the World in 2018... for the second time in less than 10 years! Valencia’s traditions and historic heritage (the city is more than 2,000 years old) is complemented with the super modern City of Arts and Sciences. And gastronomy-wise, it boasts two icons: the rice which grows close to the city in the Albufera area and is used to make the most famous paellas in Spain; and its orange trees, which make it a perfect setting for incentives and meetings with an orange blossom flavor.

Princess Yachts dives into the Mediterranean for its convention in Valencia. The luxury yacht firm chose the agency Culdesac to mark the course for its annual convention. Some 200 executives and international distributors participated in this event where the Mediterranean was the protagonist. The Marina of Valencia served as an exhibition area for the yachts and the new R35 model; the working sessions were held at the Balneario Las Arenas hotel; and the welcome dinner at the restaurant La Sucursal in Veles e Vents, which gave a nautical aesthetic to the event. The marine-theme was also extended to the gala dinner at the Palau de Les Arts, where there was a dance show with a very Mediterranean touch and hostesses dressed as the boat crew. Further inland, there was time for a day of team-building in Valencia’s historic centre, where the guests from different countries had a chance to get to know each other and strengthen relationships while delving into Valencian culture and tradition. They enjoyed a lunch with typical Valencian horchata, took part in racing competitions with giant balls and played tangram (a puzzle game) and jugger (a game that combines rugby and fencing). There was also time to take pictures to create lasting memories of the event.

This show is designed by BC TOURS in the Hemisféricde of the City of Arts and Sciences, with its egg-shaped cover of more than 100 metres and the large sphere that serves as the stage for screenings and projections. The show takes guests on a journey through different planets in this futuristic space, with aerial acts, Cirque du Soleil artists, on-screen sand art, live music, flamenco and lots of magic.

Sampling Tour at the Central Market: one of the city’s most interesting culinary activities is a visit to the Central Market, where guests can experience a tasting of local products or a tour through the various stands.Tapineria Market, a 360º creative area in the old town with 500 m2 of space divided between two pedestrianized squares. It has three areas for short-term events and two catering zones.

Orange Tour. In Masia de Xamandreu or Masia de Campo Anibal with a basket and pruning tools, the group enters the orange groves to collect the oranges themselves while they are told about the variety and history of the oranges of Valencia. Ceramic Workshop. With a communication industry coach and ceramist, Ana Illueca, you will work in creativity workshops shaping the clay to get the best out of its interior. You will also get to know the secrets of the trade deeply rooted in Valencian culture. Horchatatasting in Alboraya. This gala dinner organised by the agency ALADE3 around Valencian culture begins with an exhibition of Valencian folklore and a musical pre-show, before giving way for dinner, during which the guests experience the Moros y Cristianos parade. Alicante Escape Boat. The Es.Cultura agency has adapted the escape room format to a ship. What does it consist of? Well, there has been a murder and the crew has to solve the mystery. The participants will meet at the jetty of the Royal Navy Juan Carlos I and board the sailboat or catamaran. While the boat leaves port, they receive a briefing; they are put into teams and are given the necessary materials (magnifying glass, notebook, pen, etc.). Once they arrive at the anchoring area, they will begin the investigation and interrogation of suspects. Through these investigations, they will solve the riddles and find the key to the boat to eventually return to land.

New and special venues

Covent Carmen. The walls of the old Convent of San José and Santa Teresa have opened and offer a beautiful venue for events. The space in the church – deconsecrated and crowned by monumental vaults – has capacity for 120 people in the schoolhouse and 200 in cocktail. For small meetings there is the refectory and the Arxiu room (30 people. For presentations or cocktails you can use the cloister, a semi-covered space for 80 people standing. The garden offers 2,000m2 of outdoor space for up 400 people, with an interesting assembly of containers that serve as street-food style food stalls.

Good transport connections, a great climate and a large hotel offering make the Costa Blanca area, around Alicante, an interesting destination for meetings and incentives. Alicante, Altea, Elche, Alcoy, Torrevieja, Teulada-Moraira and Benidorm have congress facilities and 300 establishments, including 50,000 beds and 60,000 seats in their meeting rooms. Connected by land, sea and air with several cities in Spain and Europe, they have the added attraction of a complementary offer of active tourism, sports, wineries tours, scenic routes and teambuilding programs. Route of the 100 castles. With a script based on heritage, history and culture, the routes of the castles around Alicante are a great experience. Each fortress is a door to enter amazing natural spaces, enjoy traditional gastronomy and practice complementary activities, from hiking to shopping, as well as sports and nautical experiences. On top of Mount Benacantil is the Castle of Santa Bárbara, the most emblematic spot and most visited monument in Alicante. Inside this fortress are the Felipe II Hall, a covered space for 350 people; and the Patio de Armas, an outdoor space for up to 450 people.

Palau Alameda is a new space with multiple options, a refined space that respects the memory of the city while offering a new atmosphere for events: Azza is an exclusive club with a marked neo-retro character and details that will make you feel like you are in a 1920s American-style speakeasy. And at Atic Restró, you will experience show cooking in the sky with several diverse tasting options. It is the gourmet surprise of a space in which vanguard and tradition exist in harmony.

As for the hotel offering… they have just opened the NH Collection Valencia Colón, home to the Sonata 32 restaurant headed up by chef Carlos Monsonís, as well as the Balandret boutique hotel. And November sees the opening of the Ayre Hotel Astoria Palace.


Wine Routes. A great way to immerse yourself in a journey that unites several regions of the Costa Blanca with great wine traditions, such as Vinalopó and Marina Alta y Baja. You can also enjoy interesting leisure activities around wine such as guided tours of the vineyards and wineries, wine tastings, etc.

Isla de Tabarca is the Marine Reserve of the Mediterranean. You can take a guided tour in a Kon Tiki or Catamaran to enjoy the biodiversity of marine flora and fauna, while also enjoying activities such as snorkelling, kayaking, diving through posidonia meadows and bird watching.

Benidorm

Navigation can serve as a metaphor for teamwork: “rowing” in unison to reach the port. This teambuilding option is offered by SIS Tours, which organises corporate regattas in teams of 8/9 people per sailboat and accompanied by a skipper who will give them the basic ideas. The teams head out to sea to practice regatta strategies and manoeuvres, in a field marked by buoys, where they will be followed by a race committee and a beacon boat to ensure safety and to certify the race winner at the end.

Benidorm’s tourism potential is as strong as its capacity for reinvention, as the destination continues to strengthen its MICE offering. It already has its first DMC, Benidorm DMC and Benidorm Incentives, and kicked off 2019 by becoming the first Smart Tourist Destination (DTI) in Spain. The Spain Convention Bureau held its Annual Assembly there, and in April it was the headquarters of the Europe M&I Forum, which consisted of three days of meetings and a program of activities in three venues: the Asia Gardens Hotel & Thai Spa, the Grand Luxor Hotel and Meliá Villaitana.

Film Experiences: a film-focused team building in Benidorm. Would you like your teams be the creators or protagonists in a movie scene? A group of 40 sales reps from Viajes El Corte Inglés enjoyed this activity organised by Benidorm DMC. After staying at the Grand Luxor Hotel and partaking in work sessions at the hotel’s convention centre, the group headed to Terra Mítica to enjoy the Film Experience, with a filming set, costumes and red carpet event. The group had to provide ideas and took control of the performances and shooting. They were divided into two teams: Greek and Roman, and then each team was divided into a technical and artistic group. The Rome group created “The Legend of Rome”, an action movie which included a battle scene. Meanwhile, the Greek group created “El Viaje de Ulises”, a comedy with Monty Python undertones.

With a red carpet entrance and three spaces (the reception hall, an aperitif with photo-call, and the main space with a striking stage and huge screens), the evening began with a video that reviewed Jijonenca’s journey over the last 50 years, before the dinner was served at the Maestral restaurant. During the evening, the attendees discovered the novelties that Jijonenca will introduce this year until reaching one of the highlights of the night: the presentation of the “Taste of the 50th anniversary”. Fun & Serious Game Festival at the Guggenheim

The eighth edition of the Fun & Serious Game Festival was held at the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao, a video-gaming event that was inspired by film and music festivals. The event included a prize gala for the best video games of the year. Nearly 40,000 people attended to learn about new projects, share experiences and discuss the latest trends. In addition, a charity eSports tournament was held that raised almost 80,000 euros.

BASQUE COUNTRY Air France “From Bilbao to the World”. “Bilbao is increasingly attracting more and more people and hosts events such as the European club rugby finals and the European Championships in 2020 and that is one of the reasons why we are investing and bringing bigger planes,” says Boris Darceaux, director of Air France and KLM in Spain. Travelling “from Bilbao to the World” in one day thanks to the recent increase in Air France’s offer was the leitmotiv of the event that Staff Events organised for the airline gala. The objective was to demonstrate Air France’s investment in Bilbao through an attractive and unique event. The guests embarked on a gastro-journey around the five continents without ever moving from the Azkuna Zentroa space. Taste activated the rest of the senses to transport attendees to new worlds. A set was created corresponding to each of the continents, which fused their culture, history, gastronomy and traditions as a means to evoke their unique essence.

The Ingenieros-Deusto Regatta is a traditional event in the Bilbao sporting and social calendar and has been staged in the estuary since 1981. It is an Olympic rowing competition and each year it pitches a crew from the Engineering School against Deusto University. 25th anniversary of the MTV Europe Music Awards. The Bilbao Exhibition Centre (BEC) hosted the European gala of the MTV Awards, which in each edition attracts a TV audience in the millions, bringing 100,000 people to Bilbao 25 years ago. The international event lasted for a whole week with performances from international music artists in a host of different venues – a party in the purest MTV style.

San Sebastián The capital offers incentive activities connected to its great annual cultural events, such as the famous cinema festival. But gastronomy rules here: in the Aula de Cocina (kitchen classroom), three Michelin star chefs reveal their secrets in interactive sessions; in the 'Pintxos' workshop, the group can create and try their own creations. Beyond the beauty and mythical image of Concha beach, beloved of bygone royalty, the city has carved its niche by attracting cultural festivals and consolidating its position as a venue for events. Cocktail parties, gala dinners and receptions become unique events when held on the famous Concha Bay, such as the Miramar Palace, in whose foyer two translucent cubes light up at night to offer views of the sea from a completely different angle; or the María Cristina Hotel, first choice for the stars of the San Sebastián International Film Festival. But even more than culture, the city is a paradise for foodies: it is the place with the most Michelin stars per square mile in the world and home to hundreds of 'pintxo' bars.

What can you do?

Basque Pelota and fishing. Basquetour brings us the activity “Sea & Cider” in San Sebastián, where participants get to relive the adventure of whale hunting, discover what it has to do with cider and try the gastronomical delights linked to it. Participants visit the Aquarium, sail on a boat around the bay and have a meal at a cider bar in Astigarraga. Another choice is the “Cheese & Cider” tour, which includes visiting the Sagardoetxe Cider Museum in Astigarraga with some cider sampling, and visiting a cheese house followed by cheese and cider sampling. Another option outside Bilbao is the new incentive trip around Bermeo and Elantxobe. In addition to visiting these two towns, the trip includes an exhibition of the Basque pelota sport on the court itself, a boat ride from Bermeo to Elantxobe, and a visit to a preserve company to taste their preserves and some txakoli wine.

Driving new or pre-owned 4x4 vehicles, attendees stopped at different spots to experience the culture and tradition of the area. Cazaventuras offered the group a variety of txakolí wines at different stops. Logically, drivers could not drink and in most cases professional drivers were hiredso that everyone could enjoy the incentive.

While Tabakalera is an original cultural space that does not usually host MICE events, the venue recently hosted working meetings for a group from Russia, which arrived in San Sebastian via Vitoria on chartered flights. ITB Events organised the event, which included two dinner evenings. The first was in a traditional farmhouse in Orio called Bodega Katxiña, where they tasted grilled fish and steak; while the closing evening was held at the Balenciaga Foundation, which can be booked for exclusive dinners. At the end of the evening helium balloons were released to give the finishing touch to the event.


8th International Conference on Climate Change: Change the Change. Representatives at the highest level participated, debated and presented initiatives to show the political, institutional, economic and social commitment to tackle climate change. The initiatives of “Heroes and heroines of the planet” were also presented – cutting-edge projects that are an inspiration and a call to action for all sectors, governments and people.

New and special venues Chillida Leku. “Modern as the waves, ancient as the sea,” is how it has been described this great open space created by sculptor Eduardo Chillidae (author of the iconic Comb of the Wind). ChillidaLeku is a unique museum that has just reopened its doors to the public and offers the chance to organise events. The space comes with a 12-hectare park, in addition to the 16th century Zabalaga farmhouse.

Convent Garden. An old convent in the centre of the city that has become a reference point for enjoying the local culture and as a place for events. It comes with four different spaces: el Patrio, the Rooftop, the Crypt and the Hall where you can sample the best of Basque gastronomy (150 pax). The Balenciaga Museum offers presentation spaces and guided visits which shed light on the golden age of haute couture. The atrium can handle a cocktail for 1,000 people. And the entrance hall is perfect for receptions of 400 people. The city is expanding its hotel offerings with new openings such as the Hotel Arima, in the natural setting of the Miramon Forest close to the town centre, whose rooms can hold up to 300 people in cocktail format. The La Sala Plaza Hotel has also been inaugurated, an establishment facing the bay that offers its guests a mix of art and local culture. Finally the Hotel Akelarre, from Relais & Chateaux, offers a gastronomic experience created by Chef Pedro Subijana.

Visual thinking and facial recognition at the 31st OPC Congress Spain. This conference of congress organisers brought together the MICE sector in the Kursaal of San Sebastian. More than 200 professionals attended this meeting to discuss what’s new in 2019. One of the novelties was the facial recognition registration system developed by Orquidea Technology Group, which speeded up access for attendees, eradicating queues and the use of paper. During the event, three “summits to climb” were drawn on a blackboard for visual thinking, each one corresponding to the challenges of the congress: creating industry, innovative events, and technology. After the work day it was time to have fun and discover San Sebastian. First there was a dinner at the Gaztelubidea Gastronomic Society, the best way to immerse oneself in Basque culinary culture. The next day came a visit to the Miramón Technology Park and dinner at the Araeta Cider House. As a final touch, attendees visited Getaria (on the coast of Gipuzkoa) and entered the museum of the great designer Balenciaga, a cultural space that hosts events in both its indoor and outdoor spaces.

The history of its seven islands (Gran Canaria, Tenerife, El Hierro, La Palma, La Gomera, Fuerteventura and Lanzarote) is alive with tales of aboriginal tribes, colonists, pirates and Christopher Columbus. Canarian People are famous for being pleasant and open. No surprise there, are they live in a place with a great 22ºC average temperature, mild in winter and not too hot in summer. And for events, they have a lot to offer: sipping cocktails atop Mount Teide under one of the world’s starriest skies, a spectacular aquarium as an events venue, or an ‘Indiana’ dinner out in the open air of La Palma are some of the treats that the Canary Islands have in store. Google chooses Tenerife for it’s incentive trip. A delegation of 50 Google programmers arrived on the island on an incentive trip organised by Inneventing with one clear aim: after so long working in front of a monitor, they needed to disconnect for a few days to free up their creativity and get to know each other better. Inneventing wanted to give the participants something they would like, so they asked them - not just anyhow, but in the way Google asks when you do a search. Starting with the search engine’s home page, they had to input keywords of what the experience should include. After inputting the words, they had to click, Google style, on “I’m Feeling Lucky”. The result of the keywords was: nature, adventure, non-Wi-Fi zones, genuine, local, trekking, etc. and based on that, Inneventing designed the programme. They crossed volcanic craters at 3,000 m above sea level, descended hidden Tenerife ravines that were once pirate hideouts, enjoyed a mojo workshop, a blind wine-tasting session and a hike down to a secluded beach where a sailing boat was waiting for them for a relaxing end to the day.

The evening begins with a private group ascent up to Mount Teide’s highest station, where visitors can indulge in a glass of Canarian wine as they watch the red sunset bathe the volcanic landscape of the Teide National Park in a crimson glow. Descend the Masca ravine. This natural canyon can be descended down to the beach and, after, a dip, you can go by boat to see the 600 m high cliffs of Los Gigantes and, who knows, maybe even spot a whale or two! Group cooking. Visiting the Canaries and not trying papas con mojo (potatoes with mojo sauce) is unthinkable! But what about learning how to cook them? You can try your hand at this and other typical dishes, such as pella de gofio (toasted cornmeal balls).

This island located just 200km from Africa boasts three convention centers and unique venues such as the inside of a cave, colonial country estates surrounded by banana plantations. It is also a natural paradise, with 60km of its beaches and its western part declared an official Biosphere Reserve, and the possibility to sail amongst whales or treck amongst Canarian pine trees. Get ready to be surprised, as the island offers a variety of environments (from desert dunes to volcanic craters or even ice-covered peaks) in just one day with easy logistics as the maximum distance never exceeds 80km. It is also great for golf and nautical-based incentive trips. Also worth taking advantage of is its rich past including aborigines, colonists, pirates and Columbus’ voyages, all of which provide for the organization of themed incentive trips. Gran Canaria also stands out as a sports destination: its favourable climate makes it a true outdoor gym.

4x4, archery, cycling… and even a Hollywood style gala! In this trip by InSuite Eventos for a food company, 200 participants spent four days experiencing what the island has to offer. They started with a Jeep Tour around the rocky landscapes and along the dizzying mountain roads inland. Many participants were surprised to discover Gran Canaria’s golden sand dunes. The team-building continued with activities such as archery, orientation games, memory tests, wood cutting, obstacle courses, hanging bridges, bike trails, and one added difficulty: some of the activities took place at night! After all the action, dinner was served in the breathtaking setting of the rocky Fataga ravine, with a traditional Canarian music group providing the ambience. The following night involved an Oscar-style gala, where attendants lived the experience of a film star. The dress code had attendants in their glad rags with a jolly 20s theme, and walking the red carpet to the lively sound of the jazz band. The winners of the team building trials pulled up in classic cars to collect their prizes.

Look for a treasure in the Vegueta neighbourhood: Various teams will have to answer questions and meet challenges related to the city of Las Palmas, its monuments, its cuisine and its personalities. Oh, did we mention the thrill of finding a treasure? ‘Beach Olympics’on the Maspalomas Dunes: A group of visitors from a Norwegian company came to spend five days in the Canaries in search of a whole host of outdoor activities. The location chosen by Ineventing was the stunning sand dunes of Maspalomas. At the foot of the lighthouse, a series of team beach activities were arranged for the group. And you can even plan a (definitely) group meeting in this unique outdoor setting…

Have a 100% indigenous coffee. Agaete can boast of being the only place in Europe where coffee beans are grown, where the proud tradition of cultivating Arabica beans, one of the oldest strains in the world, has existed since the 19th century. The valley is famous for its coffee plantations where you can experience the whole coffee production process: from harvesting and drying to roasting and mixing beans. And of course you get to taste the finished results at the Café Agaete Academy. Trace the steps of the first settlers. The Berbers (or Amazighs) from North Africa came to the island with their culture based on cosmology, rituals and ancient beliefs, building settlements of which remain vestiges like the sacred site of Caldera de Tejeda. You can visit sanctuaries, troglodyte habitats and artificial caves with astronomical markers. And at nightfall, official monitors of the Starlight Project will guide you on a journey through time while gazing at the stars.

Those who have not experienced the famous Carnaval in Gran Canaria have never really lived. But with this activity from Ineventing, you can get to experience it at any time of the year. The participants will enjoy a personalised Carnaval experience. For example, at Casa Leacock, with its decorated terraces, lights and sound effect filling everything with colour, you can enjoy a live show and partake in Carnaval competitions with costumes, performances and makeup, in teams and in the typical comparsas (Carnaval groups).

Casa de Colon. This house was the home of Christopher Columbus when he began his trips to America. Located in the historic district of Vegueta, the house is more than five centuries old and has a museum and spaces for events, such as its assembly hall with capacity for 110 people and several other smaller rooms. Another space is the Casa de África, with its courtyard, three exhibition rooms, an auditorium for 110 people, a meeting room with translation booths and a videoconference booth. Poema del Mar Aquarium in Las Palmas has 350 salt and freshwater species in more than 7,000 m2 and is also used as a venue for events. It has a 373 m2 restaurant, a 447m2 hall and an auditorium for up to 112 people.

Another islands: Fuerteventura y Lanzarote Freixenet Ice presentation in Fuerteventura. The Barceló Castillo Beach Resort and Barceló Castillo Club Premium hosted the launch of the new product of the Freixenet company. The chosen venue was El Faro Lounge Bar in the Castillo Marina in Caleta de Fuste. It was attended by 150 guests, who were invited to taste the drink by the sea accompanied by music from a DJ.

Touring Lanzarote. CWT organised a journey for a group of 38 people to discover the island. The trip began with a visit to the Timanfaya volcano. On the next day, the group was divided into teams of four people for the activity named “Northern Lanzarote at your own speed”. The teams were given a kit bag (containing a road map, a digital camera, a map of the island, mineral water and other bits) and were put into cars to visit several points in the north of the island (Jameos del Agua, Mirador del Río and the César Manrique Foundation). Upon arrival at each point, a guide told them a bit about the area and each group was allowed explore under their own steam. And when you stay on an island, a water activity is a must. At the marina, they were given a theory lesson on safety, manoeuvrability and wind patterns before setting out on a regatta aboard a J18 – easy to handle, docile and noble, yet at the same time thrilling in a competition.

Balearic Islands

No need to go to exotic destinations to find magical islands: the famous Balearic Islands offer beautiful nature and lots of activities for your groups. You will find old, quiet and traditional villages inland, beautiful fishing villages by the sea, and cities of bustling nightlife. For quiet groups, Menorca and Formentera are the perfect options. In Mallorca, the capital city, Palma, stands out as well as the Cabrera natural park and the Sierra de Tramontana Mountain. Ibiza, the international star famous for its clubbing scene, is a UNESCO Heritage Site because of its biodiversity and culture.

Majorc a The largest of the Balearic Islands attracts visitors with its traditions, gastronomy, secluded bays and picturesque spots. But Majorca is not only coastal, its landscapes and the Serra de la Tramontana (UNESCO World Heritage Site) offer a unique variety of scenery and colors beyond the sea. The island lets you combine your conference with its cultural and gastronomic offerings and its many attractions. What’s more, the recent opening of the congress center will enable the hosting of larger conferences, making the most of one of the island’s greatest assets - its airport, which is Spain’s third-busiest.

The Majorcan ‘slowlife’, protagonist at the re-launch of Rosa Blanca beer For its re-launch, the beer of Mallorcan origin, Rosa Blanca, wanted to present its link with the island in an event promoting the island’s essence. The agency CuldeSac created an event around the most unknown qualities of the island: nature, the land, perfect imperfection, gastronomy, the traditional and local, innovation and quality. A presentation was made to the press and influencers in attendance, who had a chance to prescribe to the Mallorcan lifestyle based on the gastronomy and ‘slowlife’ of the island, with an outdoor lunch on a farm in the Sierra de Tramuntana. Young artisans, creatives, writers and poets, journalists, entrepreneurs and artists gathered to celebrate Rosa Blanca’s return at the historic Bellveure de Binissalem estate, a 16th century villa that houses the creative ‘Con Alma Design’ studio. The gastronomic archaeologist Tomeu Arbonadio presented the characteristics of the beer through a paired tasting, and the young Mallorcan duo Lili’s House provided the musical touch with its folk-pop acoustic set. The press kit also adhered to the ‘slowlife’ theme: guests were given a wicker basket that contained an organic product made on the farm and a Tomeu Arbona recipe book.

Presentation of the new BMW i8 Roadster. The international presentation of the new BMW i8 Roadster brought together more than 160 journalists from 37 countries, with logistical support from beon.Events. To get to grips with the new model, attendees were free to take it for a spin around the island and also enjoyed a boating activity on the high seas aboard a competition catamaran. In October 2019 the XXI FAI European Hot Air Balloon Championships will be held, with more than 100 balloons, 85 teams and 600 participants competing at the event. Mallorca Top Activities collaborates with the organisation to offer experiences such as The Sea Cave, a visit to the cave d’es Coloms, with its turquoise lake of crystalline water and beautiful stalactites and stalagmites. Other options include diving or snorkelling tours to explore the Mediterranean fauna.

What can you do? Pidelaluna Events suggests visiting the Sierra de Tramuntana in a classic car, stopping in the picturesque villages of Valldemossa and Sóller for lunch in a typical Mallorcan restaurant (some options have a Michelin Star). This activity is great to experience the culture, gastronomy and excitement of driving a vintage car through spectacular scenery.

Sea and mountain: the flavor of Mallorca. A genuine way to explore the coast of Majorca is in Llaüt, a small traditional wooden boat that was originally used for fishing. Pidelaluna organizes these excursions to explore secret places that can only be accessed by sea.

Underwater cave. Discover an authentic underwater treasure equipped with neoprene, helmet and lantern and accompanied by a speleologist who will guide you through the cave and its rooms full of stalagmites, stalactites, columns and swimming pools.

Another option to discover this enclave is the Donkey Trail offered by the Belmond La Residencia hotel. Riding on adorable donkeys, the excursion takes you up the mountain to enjoy stunning views of the sea, before finally reaching a spot to rest and enjoy a picnic consisting of an oil tasting, preparation of paamboli, and the sampling of other products from the island, such as cheeses, cold meats and cocas.

New and special venues

Rafa Nadal Sports Center. A sports center and residence that combines sports, health, well-being and comfort. It has indoor and outdoor spaces for events, as well as catering services and sports facilities. It also features “Sport Xperience by Rafa Nadal”, a sports museum dedicated to international athletes and an ‘Xperience’ room with state-of-the-art simulators. In March the new Honucai Hotel opened, ideally located on the seafront and overlooking the beaches of Es Carbó and Es Dolç. Inspired by the Mediterranean style and with exotic and ethnic influences, the hotel has two rooms and two terraces for events, one of which overlooks the port.


Ibiza is maturing and its appeal is growing, partly thanks to a rise in the number of flights and to the willingness of the authorities to help organizers with the logistics, which includes cordoning off roadways for the island’s popular vehicle shows.This modern and cosmopolitan island maintains its customs and traditions, but also offers great infrastructure for events. In this island, go beyond the star-filled hotels and beach clubs, and you can complete your work program with hot-air balloon trips, organize a private party right in the middle of the sea, snorkel in the clearest waters and kayak along the coast. But there is nothing like enjoying its famous sunsets with chill-out music in the background.

Ibiza

A 100% Ibizan incentive. A temporary work company from Benelux and Germany celebrated its 30th annual conference in Ibiza, with a group of 365 Belgians arriving on the island to enjoy a 100% Ibizan incentive organised by the agency Emotivents. They stayed at the Torre del Mar hotel, and enjoyed a welcome party overlooking Playa d’en Bossa. The next day, they were able to choose between yoga on the beach, a mountain bike tour around the island or a guided cultural tour. After came a lunch and visit to Las Dalias market, where they were given tokens with the corporate logo to buy things at the stands. At night, guests got into full hippy gear for a ‘flowerpower’ party with a DJ. Finally, there was a teambuilding activity in Cala Pada, after which they went to the beach to enjoy paella cooked over bonfires by a local chef.

Discover the island’s hippie essence. Ibiza was the hippie settlement par excellence in the 60s, and preserves the essence of this peace and love movement that inspires various activities, such as the “Trip to the epicentre of the hippie movement” tour created by Ibiza Incentives. Guests travel along the coast and visit villages in the official hippie vehicle, a colourful Citroën Mehari. Leaving from Playa d’En Boss, you arrive at the first stop within half an hour: Ses portes del cel, the most inspiring cliff in Ibiza. From there you will escape the most touristic areas to enter a landscape of reddish earth and vineyards – visiting the Pla d’Albarca, an area of centuries-old winemaking tradition, and Sant Mateu d’Albarca, a small town steeped in history where you can enjoy its tranquil streets and 17th century church. There will also be a stop along the way to eat the most famous sandwiches on the island at Costa bar, in front of the church of Santa Gertrudis. With a full belly, you will get back into the Mehari to reach Sant Llorenç de Balàfia, taking a break in La Paloma Café, to sample dishes full of Ibizan flavour. The trip ends at the epicentre of the hippie movement: Sant Carles de Peralta, a picturesque village where you can try the most famous herbal liqueur on the island and enjoy a spot of shopping at the legendary hippie market of Las Dalias.
