ichita ha sido el emplazamiento elegido por el Grupo Mazel para abordar el mercado aeronáutico de EEUU desde uno de sus principales focos. El estado de Kansas cuenta con una gran concentración de empresas manufactureras y auxiliares, universidades especializadas y un centro de desarrollo puntero en materiales avanzados. Wichita suministra más de la mitad de business jets de todo el mundo y emplea a más de 50.000 trabajadores directos en la industria de la aviación.

Ya ha sido constituida legalmente la delegación “ITD-MAZEL North America, LLC”, con oficinas de representación en DownTown, cerca de las instalaciones de ingeniería de Airbus.

Un consultor local, experto en el mercado norteamericano de aviación general, ha sido contratado para llevar a cabo acciones comerciales. Será el encargado de presentar los servicios de ITD y MAZEL a las empresas allí establecidas con el fin de encontrar nuevas oportunidades de negocio. Por otro lado se continúa con la búsqueda de proveedores para los programas internos del A380 y A350XWB I

ichita has been selected the city to board the USA aeronautical market which it is one of the main hotpots in aviation. The state of Kansas has a great concentration of manufacturers firms and auxiliaries, specialized universities and a leading development centre focused in the advanced materials research. Wichita supplies more than a half of the business jets in the world and employs more than 50,000 direct workers in the aviation industry.

The trade “ITD-MAZEL North America LLC” has already been set up, and the main offices are located in Down-Town, close to the Airbus Engineering facilities.

A local consultancy expert in the North American aviation market has been taken on to carry out commercial actions. He will be responsible for presenting the services that ITD and MAZEL offer to the companies in order to find new business opportunities.

Bienvenidos a este primer número de Mazel News. Este boletín de noticias del Grupo Mazel ve la luz con la intención de aproximarnos y compartir nuestro día a día. En un Grupo de empresas que crece y se diversifica, es necesario un nexo de unión que nos aglutine, y con este espíritu nace el proyecto que tenéis entre manos.

La comunicación es esencial para sentirnos parte de un mismo equipo, aunque nos separen miles de kilómetros. Jugamos todos en el mismo bando, y nuestro tesón y esfuerzo tienen que hacer posible la consecución de las metas más ambiciosas.

Siguiendo nuestra estrategia de expansión en el campo de la aeronáutica, quisiera destacar la llegada del Grupo Mazel a los Estados Unidos de Norteamérica, con la apertura de una nueva filial.

Con ésta queremos estar presente en el continente americano para potenciar nuestra internacionalización y aprovechar las oportunidades que esta localización nos brinda.

Welcome to this 1st edition of Mazel News. This Mazel Groups’ bulletin raises with the purpose of getting closer and share our daily business. It is necessary to take into account a connection point for a group of companies which are growing and diversifying every day. For this reason and following this spirit, the bulleting you have between your hands is setting up.

Although thousands of kilometres are between our sites, communication is essential in order to make everybody feels like the same team. We do all play in the same side and our persistence and efforts must achieve our most ambitious aims.

Following our expansion strategy in the aeronautical sector, I would like to emphasize the arrival of MAZEL GROUP in the United States establishing a new subsidiary site. EADS CASA awards contract of FSTA to ITD

Includes design works on Electric and Fluids, Structures and Equipment System ur company, ITD, has won the contract of FSTA , the new adjustment of the A330 platform for the British Government. As this contract contributes new projects for the whole team, means a great success for our company strengthening the relations with one of our most impor tant Costumers, EADS CASA.

The project has an approximate 18 months schedule. It is one of the biggest jobs achieved during last years. Activities have been launched immediately af ter awarding the contract.

EADS CASA has shown its will and confidence in ITD to continue collaborating in the company’s main project, the conversion of the Airbus platform into MRTTs. I

¿Qué coches le gustaría tener aparcados en su garaje?

Indudablemente el Phylla, es el último concept “ecológico”, de energía alternativa que he diseñado, con el objetivo de satisfacer la vocación por la innovación que tenemos en CRF. Junto a un clásico, cualquiera de los Ferrari en los que he trabajado en mi etapa en Pininfarina.

Por ejemplo, el 456GT, por satisfacer mi pasión automovilística.

Cuando acude a eventos del mundo del automóvil tan dispares como un concurso de elegancia en Villa de l´Este o a un motor show como el de Ginebra, ¿qué piensa si compara los coches, metodos y época en que se han fabricado los vehículos que se presentan en estos eventos?

La comparación entre los diversos períodos, que es posible ver en estas manifestaciones, evidencia que el automóvil como producto ha tenido períodos de retraso en su desarrollo, por las limitaciones tecnológicas y económicas de cada periodo. En términos conceptuales esto fue compensado sobre todo por la gran búsqueda en los años 60-70 de todos los carroceros italianos. Hoy la si8 MAZEL group News

on qué adjetivo definiría el diseño creado en el Centro Ricerche Fiat, que usted dirige?

El CRF, no es específicamente un centro de estilo sino que es un centro de Diseño Avanzado, por eso no desarrollamos productos, sino conceptos. Su actividad se introduce en un proceso complejo que ve implicadas todas las disciplinas presentes en nuestro centro. En CRF el diseño asume todas la connotaciones que el término de derivación anglosajona le atribuye, por lo que el estilo, o bien la estética de las aplicaciones innovadoras de transporte, es el resultado de una profunda interacción con las exigencias técnicoproductivas con el objetivo de satisfacer de la mejor manera todas las exigencias del usuario. La definición que me gusta dar a mi trabajo es: “El diseño como interpretación estética de la innovación tecnológica”.

La realidad, ha sido distinta, he iniciado mi carrera en Pininfarina diseñando Ferrari, he pasado por Lancia como centro de marca y hoy trabajo en coches innovadores en CRF. Mi deseo sería diseñar un Lamborghini y contribuir, por lo menos, al nacimiento de una nueva marca.

Mazel cumple 20 años, ¿cómo valora su relación con Mazel y como cree que deberíamos evolucionar para mejorar?

Felicito y mando mis mejores deseos a Mazel por sus 20 años. Mazel es una empresa que admiro y estimo muchísimo, en la persona de su presidente el Sr. Julio Elvira, y en la de todo el personal que la compone y con el que he podido trabajar conjuntamente en la construcción del concept "Sportiva Latina", que ha sido una gran oportunidad de crecimiento común. Mazel tiene una mezcla vencedora de competencia, vocación a la innovación y ganas de hacer, que permiten a las empresas sanas el desarrollarse según los cambios y las oscilaciones de los mercados. La satisfacción cotidiana del Cliente y la reciente expansión en el sector de la aviación así lo demuestran.

hich adjective would you use to define the design created in the Ricerche Fiat Center (CRF) you are leading?

The CRF is not only a style center but an advanced design center. For this reason we do not develop products but concepts. Its activity concentrates on a complex process including all kind of disciplines we use in our center.

In CRF, it is the design which takes care of all connotations which the anglo-saxon derivation terminus attributes to, by which the style or the aesthetic of the transport innovative applications, are the result of a depth interaction with the technical and productive requirements with the aim of satisfying, in the best way, costumer requirements. The definition I like to put to my job is: “The design like an aesthetical interpretation of technological innovation”.

Which cars would you like to be parked in your garage?

Unquestionably, the Phylla, this is the latest ‘ecological’ concept I’ve designed with the aim of satisfying the vocation for the innovation we have in CRF. Beside a classic, whatever of the Ferraris I’ve worked with during my time in Pininfarina. For instance, the 456GT in order to satisfy my automotive passion.

When you attend to different events related to the automobile world, like the elegance contest in Villa de l’Este or a motor show event like Geneva, what do you think when you compare the cars shown in those events, the methods and the time they were manufactured?

The comparison between different periods which could be visible in these comments, proves that the automobile itself as a product has been developed with some delays due to technological and economical restrictions for each period of time. Speaking of concept, it was compensated overall because of the great research during the 60-70 by Italian body makers. Nowadays, situation has been improved because of the knowledge and capacity to manufacture high quality with sustainable costs. The

conceptual formal and typological innovative research has been slowed down due to the new editions of the past models shown to the public as an easy commercial recipe.

What kind of car would you like to design which you have not designed yet?

When I was a child, I dreamt in a career in Bertone designing innovative cars and Lamborghinis, afterwards, to pass by Alfa Romeo, and finally, to be the founder of a new automovilistic brand.

But reality is different. I started my career working for Pininfarina with Ferrari’s design. I’ve passed to Lancia as a brand center, and nowadays, I am working with innovative cars in CRF. My wish would be to design a Lamorghini and at list to contribute in the launching of a new brand.

It is MAZEL 20th Birthday, how do you value the professional relations with MAZEL and where do you think we need to move on to get improvements?

First of all, I whish you the best and congratulate MAZEL for its 20th Birthday. MAZEL is a Company I admire and appreciate in the name of the Top Management Mr. Julio Elvira and because of the whole staff I worked with during the manufacturing of the concept ‘Sportiva Latina’, which has been a great opportunity for common growth.

Mazel has a winning mixture of competence, innovation vocation and know how which allows to steady companies to develop themselves according to the market changes and fluctuations.

Costumers daily satisfaction and latest expansion within the aviation sector confirms these facts. For this reason I think MAZEL should guarantee its positions by specializing in and extending its current services offered. I whish you will be successful with your new challenges inside industrial companies you will deal with I

Después de obtener una significativa experiencia en arquitectura, en 1984 llega al Centro Studi e Ricerche Pininfarina donde en calidad de Senior Designer desarrolla innovadores proyectos como los: Ferrari F40, F50, 456GT, Honda Beat y Peugeot 306 Cabriolet o el concept Ferrari Mythos. En 1993 asume el cargo de Chief Designer externo en el Cento Stile Lancia y coordina entre otros el desarrollo de Y, y del concept Lancia “Dialogos”. En 1998 se ocupa del advanced Design en el CRF de Fiat donde coordina el concept Lancia “Nea”. En el 2005 diseña el Sportiva Latina, concept car construido por MAZEL. En 2008 creó el Phylla, vehiculo eléctrico para la región del Piemonte. Actualmente es Manager del Advanced Design del CRF I Pietro Camardella (Salerno, 1957) studies design and architecture. omo cada año, la participación del concurso de dibujo de Navidad de “los más Peques” ha sido todo un éxito. Como sabéis, los hijos de los empleados del Grupo Mazel pueden enviar sus dibujos para participar en el concurso de “Christmas” que se viene haciendo desde hace ya varios años. El tema del dibujo ha de ser la Navidad y algo relacionado con el Grupo Mazel. Este año se han recibido más de 30 obras de arte dentro de las tres categorías (de 2 a 4 años, de 5 a 9 años, y de 10 a 14 años). Todos y todas han recibido un premio por la participación. Los ganadores han sido, para la Categoría de 2 a 4 años: Sofía Arribas (ITD), de 5 a 9 años: Javier Tello (ITD), 10 a 14 años: Blai Jordán (Mazel). Enhorabuena a todos por vuestras creaciones. ¡Con estos artistas seguro que más de uno acabará diseñando coches o aviones!.

s every year, the involvement of the Christmas drawing’s contest about ‘The little ones’ has been a complete success. As you know, sons and daughters of MAZEL GROUP employees are able to send their drawing in order to participate in the contest of ‘Christmas’ which has already been taking plance since several years ago. The subject of the drawing must be the Christmas time and something more related to MAZEL GROUP. This year, we have received more than 30 artworks between three different categories (from 2 to 4 year old, 5 to 9 and 10 to 14 year old children). Everybody has received a prize for participating. The winners have been, in Category from 2 to 4 year old: Sofía Arribas (ITD), from 5 to 9 year old: Javier Tello (ITD) and from 10 to 14 year old: Blai Jordán (MAZEL). Congratulations to everybody for your creations. Taking care these artists, for sure that more than one will become in great car and plane designers!.

This race takes place in the cordoned streets of the island having a racetrack of approximately 60 Km passing through villages and under moody and changeable climate conditions during the whole lap.

The old tradition of this discipline differs from what we are used to enjoy regarding motorcycle races on the continent. A halo of heroism and imprudence surrounds the pilots who lose their lives every year in the streets of the Isle of Man. Our experience was incredible and we hope to repeat another day I
