Michelangelo Tommaso is an actor with a career in theatre, television and the movies. He is known to the public as “Filippo” in the TV show, Un posto al sole (A Place in the Sun). He was a co-star in Saturno contro (Saturn in Opposition), one of Ferzan Özpetek’s most famous movies. He recently completed his participation in the Dance Dance Dance TV program, together with his wife Samanta Piccinetti.

What was it like to participate in a program where you had to ‘face the music’ and dance?

Very entertaining and very tough at the same time. I have loved to dance, but there was a lot of physical and even marital stress although we are accustomed to working together on set as actors. Now, I enjoy it so much that I’m continuing with lessons for contamination dance.

Your wife is an actress too? What brought you together?

The Un posto al sole seven years ago, she told me about a dream she’d had where we were together. We’re happy and we want to enlarge our family.

She was supposed to be called Olivia, but then we made a change one sunny day. Then there’s Caterina: I liked the idea that there could be this blessing by the patron saint of my wife’s city, Siena.

What gifts are needed to be a actor?

You must be able to reveal yourself and to show the public your weaknesses. It must be sincere and allow real emotions to come out because the public can see when the actor is pretending, and will move on. You also need a good dose of humility.

What role do you like best?

I usually interpret a good man, a positive thinker. Now, I feel ready for a more wicked role. I’d like to make a movie set in another era, like a historical novel of the nineteenth century.

A secret dream of yours?

A musical on Broadway. If you’re going to dream, you might as well aim for the stars. Come è stata l’esperienza di una trasmissione dedicata al ballo?

Molto bello e molto tosto allo stesso tempo. Ho sempre amato ballare abituati a lavorare insieme come attori. Lavorare con il corpo è molto diverso ma ci siamo messi alla prova e divertiti molto. Ora però ci ho preso gusto, continuo con lezioni di ballo, hip hop e contaminazione.

Anche sua moglie è un’attrice, come è nato questo amore?

Sul set di Un posto al sole era un’amicizia. Un giorno, sette anni fa, lei mi ha raccontato di un abbiamo il desiderio di allargare ancora la famiglia.

Avrebbe dovuto essere Olivia poi in una giornata di sole c’è stata la Caterina, mi piaceva l’idea che potesse esserci questa benedizione da parte della Santa protettrice della città di mia moglie, Siena.

Quali doti deve avere un attore?

Deve essere capace di mettersi a nudo e di mostrare al pubblico le proprie vulnerabilità. Deve essere sincero e comunicare emozioni dose di umiltà.

Qual è il personaggio che più le piace interpretare?

Di solito interpreto il buono, l’eroe romantico, l’uomo positivo. Ora mi sento pronto anche per un ruolo più da cattivo. Mi piacerebbe molto

Un sogno nel cassetto?

Un bel musical a Broadway. Se si sogna, si deve sognare in grande.
