West, North and Central
7-8 November 2018 | Dakar, Senegal
i n t r o d u c t i o n Africa Security Symposium for West, Central and North Africa (WASEC), brings together Government, Armed Forces (Interior, Defence & Gendarmerie), Police, Coast Guard, International Agency stakeholders, United Nations (UN) & African Union (AU) Peacekeeping Forces, US DoD, together with leading local, regional and international companies to form partnerships, identify opportunities and collectively move the development of Africa’s security and stability forward. WASEC has become known for its slick production and great customer service, offering a more intimate way of gaining new opportunities - more Face2Face time and less ‘Talk Shop’. Those that attended last year’s event agree that this is now their preferred deal making platform for peace and security in Africa. WASEC will once again play a pivotal role in providing a platform for hundreds of security and peacekeeping experts, from across Africa and beyond, for two days of direct engagement, through high-level plenary sessions, social networking functions, a solutions exhibition, and afternoon matchmaking meetings between public and private sector entities.
/ UN & AU Peacekeeping Forces, Heads of Army, Police, Intelligence, Senior Officials present challenges and opportunities / CEO’s – Discuss market perspective and provide big picture commentary with audience participation
/ Matchmaking – Lengthy one-onone meetings provide the perfect environment for networking and deal making
“Very good initiative – the Symposium goes beyond the approach used in so many previous conferences in Africa and embraces analysis of cause roots, trends and policy making.” Col. Mariko Mamdou – Maritime Organisation for the West & Central Africa (MOWCA)
what makes WASEC unique / Established high-level Symposium promoting sustainable peace and security across Africa through public-private partnerships (PPPs) and advanced technologies/solutions / Unrivalled networking opportunities, featuring numerous social functions / Attended by the top decision makers from both private and public sectors / The December 2017 Abidijan event was host to 150 delegates, 20 exhibitors, 30 speakers, 15 media partners and 15 sponsors / Excellent global media coverage / Outcomes from discussions at the event will be used with information to assist the further development of the sector
reasons to attend By attending the Forum, delegates will have the opportunity to: / Gain insight from leading public and private sector actors to share experience and knowledge, develop best practice furthering the region’s peace and security efforts. / Meet and network with senior executives from UN & AU Peacekeeping Forces, Heads of Army, Police, Intelligence, Senior Government Officials
