If your daughter is entering grades 1–12 in the fall and attends one of our themed sessions at Camp Kiwanis or Stevens Ranch, we’ve got an exceptional experience just for her! All these sessions include activities that fit the theme of the week—plus lots of swimming, crafts, games, hikes, and archery. NEW this year for all sessions are exciting challenges like 3-D archery, laser tag, disc golf, and air rifles that shoot BBs! (Every new activity is offered depending on age level.) The best part is she gets to choose her own adventure!

Each weekly theme has age-appropriate activities to help your camper earn some badges as well. Plus, all campers in a four-day session or longer get to have a trail ride or arena lesson on a horse (weather permitting). And every camper will feel the magic of camp-wide activities and the closing fire. So, pick a themed session at your home away from home—Camp Kiwanis or Stevens Ranch—where girls develop confidence, grow together, and have endless fun in the beautiful outdoors.

Camp Kiwanis

Stevens Ranch

Camp Kiwanis is the place for stargazing.

Stevens Ranch, near Glen Rose, offers soothing sunsets and the only “primitive” experience for skilled campers.

Settled in a secret canyon near Amarillo, this camp offers a high and low ropes/ challenge course for climbing and swinging through the air. Facilities include a dining hall, swimming pool, stone and wooden cabins, and hot showers. Buildings are kept cool by large fans, evaporative coolers, or refrigerated air conditioners. Campers may bring a batterypowered fan no larger than 12” x 12”.

Younger girls live in units with flush toilets. Other campers stay in units with cabins, platform tents, bunkhouses, hammocks, or two-person tents. All units have latrines, and the camp has a central shower house with flush toilets and hot showers. Each unit has a unit lodge with ceiling fans, electricity, lights, and drinking fountains. Cabins, bunkhouses, and tents do not have electricity, so girls may bring a batterypowered fan no larger than 12” x 12”. Girls eat most meals in the dining hall, which has ceiling fans, window air conditioners, and accessible flush toilets. AR R IVAL

JUNIORS Horse Play 3 Days ☙ June 30-July 2 Grades 4-5 ☙ $238 A short horse session just right for the beginning rider to learn some of the basics, safety around horses, and how to sit in the saddle. No cookout is included.

JUNIORS & CADETTES Boots ’n’ Bridles 6 Days ☙ June 9-14 or July 21-26 Grades 5-6 ☙ $375 Are you a horse lover and can’t wait to ride? This is the session for you! Girls will ride and/or work with the horses daily and assist with grooming, feeding, and corral management. This session consists of sunrise and late evening rides. Girls will be divided into two riding groups and alternate between morning and evening rides. Resident camp horse sessions are designed for progression. Camp Kiwanis horse program progression: 1) Boots ’n’ Bridles, 2) Saddle Up I, 3) Saddle Up II.

CADETTES, SENIORS & AMBASSADORS Saddle Up I 13 Days ☙ June 16-28 Grades 6-12 ☙ $563 Are you crazy about horses and gotta ride every day? This group will follow the Certified Horsemanship Association (CHA) program as the girls learn to groom, saddle, feed, and assist with corral management. Saddle Up girls will start at the crack of dawn for their first ride of the day and in the evenings will ride off into the sunset. Resident camp horse programs are designed for progression. Camp Kiwanis horse program progression: 1) Boots ’n’ Bridles, 2) Saddle Up I, 3) Saddle Up II.

Saddle Up II 13 Days ☙ July 7-19 Grades 8-12 ☙ $563 Step beyond the level of Saddle Up I and learn additional riding techniques from CHA (Certified Horsemanship Association). You will be responsible for your own mount, as well as corral management. This group will ride out/camp out for one night on the primitive part of camp. Camp Aide Camp aides will bunk together while working with a unit of younger girls and helping with crafts, daily camp activities, and kapers. All work and no play makes for a dull camp aide, so you’ll get some camp goodness

Activities will include crafts, hiking, swimming, and campfire. Participants will sleep in cabins. This is a perfect experience to prepare girls for resident camp later. No physical or health history is needed. List the names of both the mom and daughter(s) when you register.

Me and My Buddy 2 Days ☙ June 22-23 Grades 1-5 ☙ $35/person Overnight fun for you and your dad (or grandpa or uncle). There will be fun and adventure. A campfire, songs, folk dancing, hiking, crafts, and swimming will be included. Campers and dads will sleep in cabins. Great way to step into camp for young girls. Help set one of Elissa’s huge staysails and master rope craft and sea-going knots with the crew. Next up is an overnight aboard a real offshore drilling rig at the Ocean Star Oilfield Energy Center. See the technology behind the quest for petroleum and the production methods. Before heading home, spend the last night in Galveston Island State Park and explore marine ecology at Texas A&M Galveston. Note: Must be confident around water.

CANCELLATION POLICY

CAMP ACCREDITATION We are committed to providing a camping experience that will protect and maintain the well-being of every girl. Our camps are proud to be accredited by the American Camp Association, a private, nonprofit educational organization that provides members with educational and accreditation services. An ACA accreditation indicates that a camp has met ACA standards. This nationally recognized accreditation focuses on a thorough review of every facet of our procedures, including health care, site safety, and business management; qualified and certified staff for all programs offered; and screening and training of all personnel. All Girl Scouts of Texas Oklahoma Plains camps operate under the safety camp management standards established by Girl Scouts of the USA, as well as the Texas Youth Camp Safety and Health Act.

Liability for Equine Activities Law A Texas state law regarding liability for equine activities (Chapter 87, Civil Practice and Remedies Code) requires operators of horseback-riding programs to inform participants of the warning included in the law. Warning: Under Texas Law (Chapter 87, Civil Practice and Remedies Code), a farm animal professional is not liable for an injury to or the death of a participant in farm animal activities resulting from the inherent risks of farm animal activities.

Challenge Courses/Ropes Courses The Association of Challenge Course Technology is recognized as the leading professional resource for those who create safe and effective challenge course programs that facilitate learning and positive change in individuals, groups, and communities. The ACCT requires that all member courses submit to annual inspections conducted by certified independent challenge course engineers. Our facilitators have been trained and received certification to operate the challenge courses at our camps.
