Prepping For The Cookie Program ATTEND A BADGERLAND-LED COOKIE FAMILY MEETING There's a lot going on with the Cookie Program this year, so we want to make it as easy as possible for your Girl Scout to reach her goals this year. Badgerland is hosting family cookie meetings at each Girl Scout level in early February. We'll answer all the questions and reinforce the safety measures.

ATTEND YOUR TROOP'S COOKIE FAMILY MEETING IN EARLY FEBRUARY In addition to the Badgerland-led family meetings, we recommend holding a Cookie Meeting with your troop to discuss your plans for the Cookie Program. You'll decide what type(s) of selling methods girls/families are comfortable with, as well as set troop and individual sales goals, choose a Cookie Share partner, and talk about money collection processes and deadlines. At this meeting you'll also turn in your parent permission form and submit her reward(s) choices. Troop leaders must submit their initial cookie order by February 15, so you'll want to hold your meeting before then.
Activity: Decision Making
Being the boss of your own business during the Girl Scout Cookie sale there are lots of decisions that you will need to make. The biggest decision you will need to make this year is how much contact do you and your family choose to have with your customers. This is a decision your family will need to make together and what your family thinks is safe. No matter your family’s decision there are lots of great ways to still sell Girl Scout cookies! 1. No Contact (sell online through emails, videos, facebook live events, phone calls) 2. Minimal Contact (sell virtually, do porch drop offs/ pick ups, facebook live events, etc) 3. Most Contact (booth sales, drive through sales, door to door sales etc.) 5
Did You Know?
90%
of Badgerland Girl Scouts say their favorite part of the Cookie Program is spending more time with family.
4 Ways To Sell Cookies It's up to the troops and individual families to determine their comfort level with participating in the Cookie Program. Here are ways to safely conduct a successful cookie program this year.
Online Sale
NEW: Shipping Subsidies
Through Smart Cookies (powered by ABC Bakers), girls can set up an online store to run their cookie business. Throughout Cookie Season (March 13 - April 18) girls can send eCards inviting family and friends to purchase cookies. She'll also get a web link to her online store that can be shared via text, email, social media, etc. With that link, cookie customers can place their cookie order, pay with a credit or debit card and choose from two delivery options.
1. Direct Ship (Contactless)
Let those long-distance friends & family know! Badgerland is subsidizing shipping costs this year for its Direct-Ship cookie customers. For every dozen boxes they purchase, they'll save an additional $6 in shipping.
The customer's order is shipped directly to the customer in 10-14 business days from the ABC Bakers fulfillment center. Girls never have cookies on-hand. Shipping subsidies are available in 2021!

2. Girl Delivery (Minimal contact)
1-5

Enabling the girl-delivery option in Smart Cookies allows customers who live nearby to save on shipping by requesting that the Girl Scout deliver their cookies. The family has up to 5 days to approve the Girl Delivery order (parents can reject orders that might not be within driving/delivery distance) and the customer's card is charged. The girl/family then reaches out to the customer to arrange a contactless/porch delivery. Once the family approves the order the customer's credit card is charged. (Families can reject an order if it's not within driving/delivery distance.) The girl/family then reaches out to the customer to arrange a contactless/porch delivery.

TIP: Girls can pass out business cards and/or door hangers that include the URL link or QR code to her unique online store. (A QR code can be created easily and for free online. Customers scan the code with their smartphone camera and are automatically taken to her online Smart Cookies store to place and pay for an order.)
How To Set Up Your Girl's Smart Cookies Account
Girls who send 15+ eCards through Smart Cookies earn this patch.
1. Registered Girl Scouts will get an email invitation the first week of March that includes a link to register her Smart Cookies account. The email will come from 'noreply@abcsmartcookies.com'. 2. Once registered, another email will be sent to the caregiver's email address confirming the username and password. 3. Girls can login, setup their dashboards, add contacts, create upload sales pitch and thank-you videos...then get started building their online business! 6
4. The family will need to enable the "Girl Delivery" feature when setting up her account if she plans to offer that option to her customers.
4 Ways To Sell Cookies Direct Sale (Door-to-Door) If your family feels comfortable going door-to-door in the neighborhood or happens to be visiting family, they can sell cookies from their inventory. Girls collect money and hand off the cookies at the time of the sale. (TIP: You can use the Smart Cookies app to enter the customer's order and accept a credit card payment. Just hand over the cookies!) Managing a Direct Sale y Determine how many boxes she plans to sell and let her Troop Cookie Coordinator leader know in early February. y Pick up cookies from your Troop Cookie Coordinator the week leading up to the sale. y Throughout the Cookie Program (March 13 - April 18) take cookie orders, collect payments and hand over the Cookies at the time of the transaction. y If you need more cookies, just let your Troop Cookie Coordinator know. They can help you get more throughout the sale. Turn in money weekly and any time you pick up cookies. y Troops may return a limited number of cased of clean, unopened cases of cookies April 6 & 7. Be sure to let your Troop Cookie Coordinator know right away if you're holding too many cookies. y After the cookie sale ends, girls can continue to sell out their inventory to 0.
Take Payments Using the Smart Cookies App
Order-Taking Sale
If selling cookies in-person, a girl can use her Smart Cookies App to take a virtual payment from her customer to allow for an almost contactless sale.
Order-taking is similar to Direct Sales, but instead of handing off cookies at the time of the sale, girls use an order card to record all orders and collects money throughout the sale. Then mid-sale, you'll place an order for exactly how many boxes she needs to fulfill her orders from the season. You'll pick up the cookies from your Troop Cookie Coordinator, prep them for delivery and then make porch/no-contact drop-offs to customers. IS THIS YOUR FIRST COOKIE SALE? We suggest doing an order-taking sale (rather than Direct Sales). Here's why: taking orders and delivering later means there's no guesswork in figuring out how many boxes each girl in the troop will sell. It also means families don't have to bear the financial risk by pre-ordering cookies for each girl to sell individually. P.S. First-Year Troops can also do online sales and a few Cookie Booths...whatever they're comfortable with. Managing an Order-Taking Sale y Get her order card and money envelope from her Troop Cookie Coordinator the week of March 8. y Throughout the Cookie Program (March 13 - April 18) girls take cookie orders using their order card and collect payment for the cookies. y Submit her order card and money collected to her Troop Cookie Coordinator by April 5 so they order your cookies. y Cookies will be available to pick up the weekend of April 17-18. All cookies should be delivered by girls by April 25.

4 Ways To Sell Cookies Booth Sales Most troops hold several booth sales throughout the year where girls work together to achieve troop and individual goals while practicing their financial literacy and communication skills (oh, and having a BLAST!). At a Cookie Booth, girls sell to the general public in places such as grocery stores, local businesses, and convenient drive-through spaces. Traditional booths will be allowed this year, but with special safety requirements. Additionally, we're Girls who participate in a Cookie Booth earn this patch! encouraging families and smaller groups of Girl Scouts to hold their own socially-distanced cookie booths. Let's get innovative this year!
Safety Guidelines: Cookie Booths During COVID Follow these important booth safety guidelines when participating in a booth sale. For indoor booths, no more than 2 Girl Scouts and 2 adults/volunteers per shift will be permitted at a time to allow for proper social distancing. We suggest breaking your 3-4 hour booth into shifts so all girls get a chance to participate. y All participants (girls and adults) must wear face coverings/masks during booths to protect themselves and others. y Troops/families are responsible for bringing their own table, chairs, signage and safety supplies. This includes hand sanitizer, gloves, and extra face masks. y Clean and disinfect frequently-touched surfaces and wash/sanitize hands often while staffing the booth. y Wear gloves when handling cash. y Girls must limit close contact with others and maintain proper distancing from customers. y Encourage touchless payment methods to minimize cash handling. You can display the girl/troop Smart Cookies store link to promote touchless transactions at your regular booths. Customers can scan the QR code with their smartphone camera and be taken instantly to the Smart Cookies store.
Cookie Booth Etiquette y Before setting up the booth, check in with the store manager. After the booth, give a thank you card that the girls have already prepared and signed. y Some stores have solicitation policies that don’t allow girls to ask customers to purchase cookies until they approach the booth. Clarify the policies at your location before selling. y A Girl Scout always is courteous and says thank you even when someone chooses not to purchase cookies. y Leave the area cleaner than you found it and remove all empty boxes. y When transitioning booth shifts, allow the first troop to complete their time before beginning to set up. y Sell only Girl Scout cookies at your Girl Scout cookie booth. y Girl Scouts should always be in uniform when selling Cookies. 8

Host Your Own Booth! Booths are usually scheduled by the troop, but this year, we're encouraging families to take the lead and organize their own booths or drive-through pick-ups too! REMINDER that booth sales, and door-to-door sales, must be within the confines of Badgerland Council's membership area. Not sure? Ask us: info@gsbadgerland.org Booths can be held at retail stores, grocery stores, hair salons, churches, parking lots (with safety protocols) or other places with lots of foot traffic. Reach out to the store or property management ahead of time and request to set up a time for your family to sell Girl Scout Cookies. Be sure to let your Troop Cookie Coordinator know when and where you'll be hosting a public booth so they can it listed in the Cookie Finder app. Check the list of councilsecured booth locations on our website to make sure you're not contacting these businesses. Troops will be able to sign up for these locations through ABC Smart Cookies ONLY.
Creative Booth Ideas for 2021 Drive-Through Booths Secure a convenient and public location (such as a local business, park or library) to host the drive-through booth. In the days leading up to the sale, the girl/troop promotes their sale via email, social media, door hangers, yard signs and other creative ways. (Hint: Include a QR code that customers can scan with their smartphone camera to be taken directly to the girl/troop's online store.) Encourage customers to place their order in advance, pay by credit card and enjoy curbside pickup. On the day of the event, customers drive to the booth location, provide their name and the girls help load their Cookie order into their vehicle. Community Walkabouts Hang flyers and door hangers around the community to let your neighbors know that Girl Scout Cookies are back and how girls are planning to sell. Set up a cookie stand in a central location in the neighborhood and invite neighbors to drop by. Share your "open times' with the community and on social media. Zoom-A-Thon The troop or individual girl schedules a social media event or livestream to reach potential customers. When it's time, the girl "goes live" on Facebook or Instagram (with proper supervision) and drives business to their online Smart Cookies store. Virtual Booth A troop-secured booth that you hold online for local delivery of cookies to customers OR create a location for pickup. You can even create a "virtual" booth along side an in-person booth to take "preorders" from customers so they can drop by your in person booth and simply pick up their cookies already ordered. Entering a Virtual booth in Smart cookies is exactly like a troop-secured booth except that you also click the "virtual booth" box during set up.
& GIRL SCOUT COOKIES! A New Partnership Girl Scouts is excited to partner with GrubHub...in Badgerland and around the country! This year, some customers will be able to have their Girl Scout Cookies delivered right to their front door. Details on how it works are on our website.
9
Payment Types Accepted Money is collected from customers at the time of the order. Parents are financially responsible for all cookies received until they turn it in to their Troop Cookie Coordinator (weekly) and get a copy of their signed receipt. CREDIT CARD - Contactless! Plus, sales are stronger when customers have the option to use a credit card. y Smart Cookies App y Online Sales: Customer can also use girl's unique Smart Cookies store link to place and pay for their order with a credit card and select whether they want girl delivery (new in 2021), or pay to have the cookies shipped directly to them. y For in-person sales: girls and troops can take payments using their Smart Cookies app. The customer simply selects Girl Delivery and she hands over the cookies. Simple as that. Badgerland covers all credit card fees for transactions through Smart Cookies, saving the troop some money. y For booth sales, the booth must be listed in the Smart Cookies Booth Scheduler in order to take payment using Smart Cookies. y Square Reader or PayPal Account y Troops can take credit cards out in the field or at booth sales using a Square device, PayPal account. y Credit card readers are not provided by Badgerland. Troops are responsible for all transactional fees charged by the company. y For more information on these choices, contact our Customer Care team: info@gsbadgerland.org or 800.236.2710. CASH - Wear gloves and use hand sanitizer when handling cash CHECK - Checks must be written out to the troop or Girl Scouts of WI - Badgerland (not to the parent or girl)

FAMILY COOKIE GUIDE
What Is Cookie Share? Participating in Cookie Share is a great way for girls to experience the power of giving back to their community while boosting their sales. Plus, it gives cookie customers who cannot or choose not to eat Cookies the chance to still support Girl Scouts. HOW IT WORKS: Before the cookie sale begins, the troop agrees on a local nonprofit organization they want to give cookies to. A customer purchases these cookies, but instead of receiving them, the girl/troop sets them aside and donates them to their organization after the sale. Customers can donate to a girl's Cookie Share while Girls who participate in ordering online, too. Cookie Share cookies ordered Cookie Share earn this patch! online benefit the council's Cookie Share program and cookies needed to fill those orders will come out of the Council's supply - not your troop/family's. Cookie Share cookies are included in the girl's total and will count toward her rewards.
Activity: Money Management Understanding money and knowing what it looks like and how it all adds up is the first step to running a successful cookies business.

Activity: People Skills Talking to customers is a very important skill to learn not only during the Girl Scout Cookie program but also in life. A person will not buy a box of Girl Scout Cookies unless they are asked. This means that you will need to talk (virtually or in person). What will you say to them though? Come up with your sales pitch (or sales video) telling your customer about your Girl Scout Cookie business. Come up with your own or fill in the template below.
MY COOKIE SALES PITCH Hi! My name is ________________. I love selling GIrl Scout Cookies! My favorite type is ____________________, but most of my customers like the ________________ best. My goal this year is to sell _______ boxes of Girl Scout Cookies. My ways I plan to meet my goal are by __________________, having a booth sale at _______________, and selling to my family and friends. Would you like to buy some Girl Scout Cookies?
Cookie Program Safety Tips 1. Partner With Adults. Adults must accompany Girl Scouts when they're taking orders, selling cookies, or delivering cookies - including cookie booths. 2. Be COVID Safe. Follow local health safety guidelines, including wearing a mask and social distancing. See our Cookie Booth Safety Guidelines on page 8. 3. Girls should not give their phone number, address or last name to customers. 4. Girls should not carry large sums of cash. All money needs to be turned in promptly and frequently by a responsible adult. 5. Show You're A Girl Scout. Wear your Girl Scout sash/ vest or other Girl Scout clothing to identify yourself as a Girl Scout when selling cookies.
12
FAMILY COOKIE GUIDE
Cookies on Social Media Policy Families (and Girl Scouts over age 13 with parent permission) can advertise their sale on their personal social media sites, including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and YouTube. Girl Scout Cookies may not be advertised or sold on online auction or sales websites including eBay, Craigslist, community buy/sell/trade sites and Facebook Marketplace. A good rule of thumb: only people who know the girl or her family personally should see her cookie sale information.
Cookie Returns There are many factors involved in the sale (such as inclement weather or illness) that can influence how many cookies Girl Scouts can sell. That's why, near the end of the sale, we offer troops the option to return 1/2 case (6 boxes) of cookies for each girl registered to the troop. Parents may return unopened, clean cases of cookies to their troop before April 1, but if you know you'll have too many cookies left over let your Troop Cookie Coordinator know ahead of time so they can shuffle them around to other families.
Activity: Business Ethics Talk together about what it means to be honest during the Girl Scout cookie sale. Some examples you can talk about are: • A customer gives you too much money for the number of boxes, but doesn’t realize it. What would you do? • You are signed up to go to a booth sale but you don’t want to go? • You set a goal with your troop to each sell a certain number of cookies and then you decide to hang out with your friends versus selling.

How The Cookie Crumbles Troop Proceeds $0.63-0.75
Girl & Troop Rewards $0.21
Pay the Baker: Cookie Box Cost - $1.05
Girl Scout and Volunteer Services $1.99-$2.11
After paying the baker for the cookies, 100 percent of the money that Badgerland troops raise through the Girl Scout Cookie Program stays in Badgerland. *The cost breakdown is different for Girl Scouts not in a troop and selling as Juliettes. See Juliette-specific info for details.
Troop Proceeds All troops earn at least 63¢ per box on cookies sales. The higher the troop's per-girl-selling average, the more the troop earns. How to Calculate Your Per-Girl-Selling Average: Divide the number of boxes your troop sells (or hopes to sell) by the number of girls in the troop who are participating in the Cookie Program this year (even if they only sell a few boxes). Per-Girl-Selling Average
Troop Proceeds
1-203 Boxes
63¢ per box
204-299 Boxes
69¢ per box
300+ Boxes
75¢ per box
NOTE: The breakdown is different for Juliettes (individually registered Girl Scouts). Badgerland will be connecting with those families separately.
Troop proceeds belong to the Girl Scout troop and not to the individual members of the troop. Decisions about spending troop proceeds must reflect the wishes and interests of all the girls. This is their girl-led business!

Troop Rewards We've revamped troops rewards for 2021! Troops with a 100+ boxes per-girl-selling average (PGSA) will get access to an expert-led program that aligns with one of the themes below. The higher PGSA in your troop, the more add-ons and goodies you earn that align with the theme. You'll receive one kit per girl selling at the level and theme the troop chooses. We encourage you to enjoy these activities together as a troop, although all can be done on-her-own. Talk about which theme and reward the troop wants to work toward at your Family meeting in February so everyone knows what to strive for. For Troops with 2+ girls selling

How Girl Rewards Work Girl Scouts earn rewards based on the number of cookie boxes she sells, including Cookie Share cookies, digital cookie sales and booth sales. Before the sale begins, girls choose one item at each earning level that she would like as her reward. After the sale, she'll earn the reward she chose at whatever selling level (number of boxes) she achieved. These rewards are not cumulative.
SPECIAL REWARDS Badgerland Bucks These come in the form of a gift card and can be used on items in our shops, or to cover memberships, program and camp fees.
Philanthropy Reward Instead of choosing a traditional reward item, girls can make a donation to the Bee & Butterfly Habitat Fund, an organization that establishes pollinator habitats to ensure the honey bee and monarch butterfly populations thrive. Girls who choose the Philanthropy Reward earn a free patch.

Girls who sell 408+ boxes earn Adventure Points in addition to one Level 4 Reward on the Girl Rewards page. HOW ADVENTURE POINTS WORK: Girls earn the number of APs at their final earning level, but they can be mixed and matched from multiple AP levels. For example, if a girl earns 16 Adventure Points, she could choose 1 thing from the 16 AP level; OR 2 Weeks of Summer Camp (13 APs) AND $75 Badgerland Bucks (2 APs) AND a Wisconsin State Parks Pass (1 AP); they all add up to 16 APs.
