Using this Guide
This guide is filled with fun and challenging events designed to help girls earn badges, meet other Girl Scouts, and try new things. Together, it all creates the Girl Scout Leadership Experience.
Events like these are offered by our program team, community partners, area associations, service units, and other troops. The online Events Calendar is your source for the most up-to-date information about something to do as a troop, with a friend, or as a family, plus volunteer trainings.
Find the latest Event Guide on our website, www.gskentuckiana.org/events. Check it often for updates.
Log in to MyGS to get started!
Our program offerings provide enriching experiences for girls.
Check out our event categories to find events that match a Girl Scout's specific interests.
Global Engagement Global
No matter their age, Girl Scouts can engage with global issues. Events marked blue indicate programs with global themes. For even more activities to do individually or as a troop, check out the global page of our website at www.gskentuckiana.org/global.
Family Engagement Family
The whole family can join in the fun! There are lots of ways families can be involved in Girl Scouts, and sometimes that means enjoying an outing together. These events are open for the whole gang to come along as their Girl Scout discovers the world. Everyone shares the fun when a family sees an event through a Girl Scout's eyes! Family events show the various costs for the Girls Scout, adults, and tagalongs. Tagalongs are siblings or friends (both boys and girls) who join an event or program, accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Optional Overnights Optional Overnight
When troops attend designated events held at one of the council's camps, members can often extend the fun with a prearranged overnight stay onsite! See page 13 for details.
Registering for Events
Log in to MyGS at mygs.girlscouts.org/myaccount for the most up-to-date information on events and for registration. Pre-registration is required at least two weeks ahead of time. Register for events online with a credit card, or make payments by cash, check, or Kentuckiana Credits using the Event Registration Form. Late registrations cannot be accepted.
When your plans change, event registrations may be canceled for a full refund, up to 14 days prior to the event.
Patch of the Month
Each month, girls can Discover, Connect, and Take Action in a specific subject area. Hands-on activities are available for all Girl Scout levels and can be done at meetings, as a pre-meeting activity, or as an athome project.
This year our Cadette, Senior, and Ambassador Girl Scouts created some awesome patches for you to earn! Completing patch programs can help complete a Journey and may satisfy requirements for certain badges. It’s not necessary to complete the patch programs in the months specified—they can be completed at any time.
We are looking for additional Cadette, Senior, and Ambassador Girl Scouts to create future Patch of the Month packets individually or as a group. Girl Scouts will earn service hours and the Service to Girl Scouting Bar. For more information, visit bit.ly/gskpom

Learning by Earning
Two things a Girl Scout can look forward to during the school year are the Fall Product Program and the Girl Scout Cookie Program. Both programs develop fantastic skills for members. By participating, troops can have big fun and earn funds to power their adventures throughout the year. The Product Power Connection is an e-newsletter with information and updates specific to GSK product programs. It is sent out every Tuesday from August to April. Contact Diana Clark, dyclark@gskentuckiana.org, for materials or more information.
Fall Product Program
September—November
Participating in the Fall Product Program is a great way to earn start-up funds for uniforms and amazing experiences for your troop! Girl Scouts sell nuts, candy, magazines, and other items through a simple digital platform. Troops earn 20-25% of the proceeds from the program. Girl Scouts also earn awesome individual rewards and learn valuable entrepreneurial skills. This program is straightforward for online participation and includes lots of great interactive features for girls like creating their own custom-designed avatar.
Cookie Program
January—March
By selling cookies, a Girl Scout is part of the largest girl-led business in the world!
The Girl Scout Cookie Program is a tradition that troops, Girl Scouts, and families can all enjoy. Troops earn a profit from all sales, and Girl Scouts have the opportunity to set goals and earn awesome individual and troop rewards! During door-to-door and inperson sales, Girl Scouts improve their interpersonal and communication skills. Virtual and recorded training opportunities are available for adults.
Training Highlights for Adults
Adult volunteers are the driving force behind the thriving, fearless energy of Girl Scouts. Well-informed leaders serve as the bedrock for the success of troops.
Training is always available.
Sometimes it can come from a workshop led by volunteers or staff. Or it might look like an online, self-paced course. Or it may be a handson experience in the great outdoors.
Training volunteers is important to our mission of creating a great experience for every Girl Scout.
Whether they are a new volunteer in their first year or a well-established guru, adults can find the learning they need to power the fun for Girl Scouts.

The council offers a new and upgraded training to prepare leaders to take their Girl Scouts outdoors!
Troop adults and helping hands can take the course "Outdoor Basics" (formerly known as Camp In A) using the online platform gsLearn for a self-guided, module-based training.
This interactive training should take no longer than an hour to complete and will prepare you to guide Girl Scouts as they explore a GSK property or other outdoor setting! Login to MyGS and select gsLearn. Then, search for Outdoor Basics.

Do I need to maintain my youth/ adult ratio?
Nope!

Yes!
Leaders must provide enough adults to maintain the required youth/adult ratio during the entire stay at camp. GSK outdoor staff will sleep in a separate dwelling.

All activities must be run by troop leaders. For a list of outdoor activities that don't require trainings in advance, visit the GSK properties and outdoor website (GSKcamps.org).
