This summer, celebrate today's Girl Scouts as they build leadership skills and realize their bright, bold futures.

A Message from Joyce Seymour

Dear Friends and Supporters,

My name is Joyce Seymour, and one of my life’s truest adventures has been my involvement with Girl Scouts of Kentuckiana. As a past Resident Camp Director at Camp Shantituck, a council CEO, and a former board member, I have had the pleasure of witnessing the joy that Girl Scouting has brought to so many girls.

One of the most impactful experiences in Girl Scouting is attending camp and spending time in nature with peers and supportive adult leaders. At Girl Scouts of Kentuckiana, we are dedicated to ensuring that more girls have access to camp through scholarships, as well as keeping our camps in the best possible condition through maintenance and upgrades.

The Girl Scout Leadership Experience helps our girls discover what they can do, learn to connect with others, and take action to improve themselves. There is no better place to do that than in an outdoor setting.

Last year, 307 girls across our council received a total of $45,518 in camp scholarships, allowing them to enjoy all the fun and memory making camp has to offer. For many girls, camp provides their only opportunity to participate in activities such as swimming and offers unique adventure opportunities such as archery, high ropes, water-based activities like kayaking, and so much more. Increasing the availability of camp scholarships is so important so that we can offer enriching experiences to more Girl Scouts.

Similarly, Girl Scouts of Kentuckiana is continuously working to maintain our camp properties in excellent condition for our campers and add upgrades and enhancements. The swimming pool renovation at Camp Shantituck, new docks at Bear Creek Aquatic Camp, and installing air conditioning at Beckley Lodge at Camp Pennyroyal are just a few examples of the projects we are working on to increase safety and enjoyment of our camp offerings, helping ensure that our camps continue to provide wonderful experiences for girls for generations to come.

I would like to thank you for your support of Girl Scouts of Kentuckiana and all the exciting activities -- including camp, that our local girls can enjoy through this incredible organization.

uture Girl Scouts

Help us rebuild a treasure! After 70 years, the time has come to reimagine new, modern, and accessible swimming pool facilities for Girl Scouts at Camp Shantituck. Construction plans are underway.

With a newly-upgraded facility at camp, Girl Scouts will find a joyful safe space to try new things, form life-long memories, and master important aquatic safety skills.

Donate Today!

We are so grateful for our generous supporters who gave during Kentucky Gives Day. On May 7, generous givers across Kentucky (and beyond) opened their hearts to local organizations important to them. All money raised during this one-day fundraising campaign supports our entire council, including our Girl Scouts in Indiana. Thank you to all who took part in this day with us!

Empowering Today’s Leaders

Girl Scouts who participated in our council’s 2024 Cookie Program sold more than 1.4 million packages of Girl Scout Cookies.

Thank you for supporting the 2024 Girl Scout Cookie Program! Your cookie purchase helps Girl Scouts do amazing things like trek through the forest, learn how to code, build a playground in their community, make life-long friends at camp, and so much more.

Did you know that the Girl Scout Cookie Program is the largest girl-led entrepreneurial program in the world?

Not only is the cookie program fun, but it also helps Girl Scouts learn life and leadership skills:

Goal Setting

Girl Scouts learn how to set goals and create a plan to reach them.

Decision Making

Girl Scouts learn to make decisions on their own and as a team.

Money Management

Girl Scouts learn how to create a budget and handle money.

People Skills

Girl Scouts find their voice and build confidence through customer interactions.

Business Ethics

Girl Scouts learn to act ethically, both in business and in life.

2024 Annual Meeting

In April, nearly 400 members from across the council gathered to share ideas, discuss council business issues, and vote on official governance procedures at the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green

Representative delegates cast votes and approved new members for the Board of Directors and Board Development Committee. These important discussions from girls and adults help create the strategy for the future.

We also introduced our official 2023 Annual Report. This report shares our visions & strategies, financial information for 2023, and even highlights our Gold Award Girl Scouts and their amazing projects. Download the new Annual Report and other official documents from Annual Meeting here

Best Summer Ever!

This summer, dedicated camp staff is leading unforgettable camp sessions. Campers are making life-long memories at overnight camps at Camp Pennyroyal and Bear Creek Aquatic Camp, or spending adventuresome days at the Louisville PLC Day Camp led by GSK staff. Meanwhile, Volunteer-Led Day Camps across the council are welcoming Girl Scouts with friends, excitement, and new skills. From setting up the perfect campsite to planning diverse and enriching programs, teams of experts have planned every detail for a safe and fun-filled experience. Here’s to another epic summer!

Outdoor adventures play a crucial role in building confidence, fostering teamwork, and inspiring a love for nature in our Girl Scouts. These experiences are essential for their growth, providing them with the skills and memories that will last a lifetime.

Studies show that girls today are not spending nearly enough time outdoors. Technology and structured activities leave less time for girls to

get outside and enjoy nature. But as a Girl Scout, she’ll have plenty of opportunities to create her own outdoor adventures and develop a lifelong appreciation for nature and the great outdoors—whether with her troop, at our camps, or with friends and family near home.

And that’s great news because when Girl Scouts get outside, they:

Discover that they can better solve problems and overcome challenges

Develop leadership skills, build social bonds, and are happier overall

Become team players and care more about protecting our environment

Thank you for your continued support in making possible these invaluable opportunities for hundreds of Girl Scouts.

2024 Older Girl Recognition Ceremonies

This spring, older girls were recognized at Older Girl Recognition Ceremonies in Elizabethtown and Louisville. These events celebrated and honored Girl Scouts who have earned the Gold Award, the Silver Award, and other prominent earned awards such as the Presidential Volunteer Service Award or the Congressional Award.

The ceremonies also honored Girl Scout Ambassadors who are graduating from high school, including those who have been awarded our council's Jean Cole Scholarship. Honorees were recognized individually and received certificates and mementos appropriate for their earned awards and honors.

We are so proud of our incredible older Girl Scouts!

The first planned gift in the Girl Scout Movement came from our founder, Juliette Gordon Low. After converting the carriage house of her home into the first Girl Scout national headquarters, she gifted the property to Girl Scouts in her will. Become a member of the Juliette Gordon Low Society and carry on her legacy by making Girl Scouts of Kentuckiana a beneficiary of your estate plans.
