Settings in Action – Volunteer Led Troop
Setting Example
All girl environment
Emotionally and physically safe space
Troop meetings, field trips, camping trips are for girls only…where they can be themselves and have fun.
A safe meeting place, but more importantly knowing who is there every meeting; troop leaders, parents, and friends who let girls be themselves to share thoughts and dreams and experience new things without judgement - just support and encouragement.
The What (Keys — Discover, Connect and Take Action) and the How of the Girl Scout Leadership Experience (Processes — Girl Led, Learn by Doing, Cooperative Learning)
Consistent and supportive adult(s), volunteers who meet Girl Scout safety and preparation standards
Encouragement and support to continue in Girl Scouts
Experiencing the activities, events and traditions of Girl Scouts using the processes of the Girl Scout Leadership Experience that are proven to achieve outcomes when done as intended.
Volunteers who are background checked, and prepared to lead girls in a nurturing environment.
Throughout the year, girls and parents are provided with information about future opportunities (Brownies are told about the Bronze award in the Junior level), to encourage retention.
Active family engagement and participation in Troop year
Parents are invited to attend and participate in their daughters’ Girl Scout experience from the initial parent meeting to the Bridging ceremony with all events in between.
