Did you know that we have some of the coolest, fun, and most awesome camp staff around and that they come from all over the globe? If you are new to camp and want to make sure that your parents get a tour before you jump on the bus and head to the mountains, sign your family up for the camp open house. You will meet staff, try some camp activities, get a tour of camp, and even eat lunch around the campfire. Lunch is included for families who register by the June 6, 2014 deadline. We can’t wait to see you at Camp Wasiu II.

Each summer, hundreds of girls attend our Girl Scout camps. Why? Because they: • Meet cool camp counselors from around the world. • Choose activities they want to do. • Get out in the fresh mountain air. • Try things they have never done before. • Make tasty s’mores • Laugh with new friends. Camp Wasiu II is an adventure summer camp for girls in grades 1-12. Join us at “A Taste of Camp” for all the details! Girls will get to meet the staff and try some fun camp activities, while parents enjoy an informative presentation and Q&A session with the new Camp Director. Door prizes and drawings will be held throughout the program. Priority camp registration and Girl Scout troop sign-ups will be offered during the event. Girls do not need to be Girl Scouts to attend camp.

Bring a Buddy Calling all BFFs! Camp is a great place to make new friends, but if you want your best buddy to come to camp: • Register for the same session. • List each other on your registration forms. Remember: only one buddy request per person. *While every effort is made to place buddies together, the camp director retains the final decision on placement.

CAMP WASIU II Entering Grade 1 Camp Rocks

3 days / 2 nights Session 4C: July 6 - 8 Cost: $135/ camper Registration Deadline: June 13 First time campers, come explore Camp Wasiu II for two funfilled nights. Play games, swim, sing, hike, eat s’mores and sleep in a tent with your new camp friends. Extra counselors in this unit will ensure that everyone will have a camptastic time.

Session 4D: July 8 - 11 Cost: $200/ camper Registration Deadline: June 13 Discover where the Camp Wasiu II forest faeries live. Make fairy houses, fairy spy glasses and fairy wands while exploring the importance of all the forest creatures. The forest faeries may even leave you a magical surprise for being such a good forest friend!

Session 1: June 22 - 27 Cost: $340/ camper Registration Deadline: May 30 Discover your inner artist during a creative week at camp! Try your hand at pottery, leatherwork, woodworking and textile crafts. You will take home many one-of-a-kind treasures that you made yourself.

Session 5B: July 13 - 16 Cost: $200/ camper Registration Deadline: June 20 Bring your princess clothes and come for some royal camping fun. Wasiu II princesses will swim, craft, dance, and shine for four silly days. This session is full of sparkles and glitter.

Session 3: June 29 - July 3 Cost: $325/ camper Registration Deadline: June 6 Put on your chef’s hat and come have a tasty time at camp, filled with four days of sprinkles, frosting, and tasty creations. Bake sweets and be the coolest, wackiest kitchen helpers at camp. Discover new baking secrets from our talented kitchen staff while making yummy desserts for the entire camp to enjoy.

Well, this year you can dance your way through an exciting and entertaining week at Camp Wasiu II. Session 1: June 22 - 27 Cost: $340/camper Registration Deadline: May 30 Bring out your inner Katniss and shoot a bow like a pro! Spend your time becoming Camp Wasiu II’s best archer, compete in an archery challenge, create your own targets, and even have time for some traditional camp fun!

Session 5A: July 13 - 18 Cost: $340/camper Registration Deadline: June 20 Go wild at Camp Wasiu II. Discover how to track wild animals, learn the names of the plants around camp, and study creatures both underwater and on dry land! Prepare to spend lots of time playing in the water and enjoy tons of exploring during your Aquatic Safari.

Session 3: June 29 - July 3 Cost: $325/camper Registration Deadline: June 6 Let your girl power shine! Build self-confidence, make new friends and learn to express yourself. Manicures, pedicures, and yoga, oh my! Create (and eat) healthy snacks and fruit smoothies. Dabble in some self-defense and dance. Concoct your own natural cosmetics and work towards completing your aMUSE Journey.

Session 5A: July 13 - 18 Cost: $350/camper Registration Deadline: June 20 Who’s hungry? Spend six days perfecting your skills as a chef, whipping up snacks, main courses, and desserts, while working on your Simple Meals badge. Discover a variety of cooking techniques, investigate the edible plants around camp, cook over a campfire, and take home your very own self-made cookbook.

6 days / 5 nights Session 4A: July 6 - 11 Cost: $340/camper Registration Deadline: June 13 Is 7:00 a.m. too early to rise and shine? Enjoy five nights of staying up and experiencing camp after dark. After everyone goes to bed you will enjoy night hikes, play glow-in-the-dark games, stargaze, and have a special midnight party! Of course, you will be able to sleep in.

Wasiu II Olympians 6 days / 5 nights

Session 4A: July 6 -11 Cost: $340/camper Registration Deadline: June 13 The 2014 Wasiu II Summer Olympics are here. Will you be a part of the Camp Wasiu II team? Enjoy all things sports from swimming, archery, and canoeing to basketball, soccer, and volleyball. Make up sports and games of your own and compete in team challenges to go for the gold.

Depending on the age level of the camper, staffing expertise, and weather conditions, general camp activities may include swimming, canoeing, archery, hiking, campfires, singing, games, crafts, star-gazing, challenge course, and cookouts. All girls will receive a 2014 Camp Wasiu II patch as part of their registration fee and all campers will receive a camp t-shirt. Register today! GSSN.ORG

CAMP WASIU II Entering Grades 9+ Day Trippers

5 days / 4 nights Session 3: June 29 - July 3 Cost: $450/camper Registration Deadline: June 6 Plan the camp adventure you’ve always dreamed about and take a new trip every day. Hike the Sierra Buttes and local waterfalls, spend a day rafting the river, or go on a backpacking trip from camp. Earn parts of your Adventurer badge, make forever friends, gain new leadership skills, and discover the amazing possibilities that surround Camp Wasiu II!

Troop Camp

Footloose and Fancy-Free 6 days / 5 nights

Session 1: June 22 - June 27 Cost: $340/camper Registration Deadline: May 30 Channel your inner Glee-Geek with this week-long song fest at Camp Wasiu II by singing, dancing, and acting to tell a story. Work together to choose a song and choreograph a dance that will inspire girls. Showcase your talent by performing at the Camp Wasiu II talent show.

Passport to Outdoor Adventure 13 days / 12 nights

Session 4B: July 6 - 18 Cost: $699/camper Registration Deadline: June 13 On your mark, get set, GO! Time to travel using your Camp Wasiu II Passport to Adventure. Grab your bags, head on a journey of a lifetime and encounter new cultures, experiences, friends, and food. Discover new passions as you test your personal limits. Canoe, compete at the archery range, swim, SUP (stand up paddle board) and then take camp to the extreme! Explore all of the exciting things that you can do in and around Camp Wasiu II. Wrap up your 13-day adventure with a treetop high ropes challenge. The opportunities are endless!

WILD About Camp 6 days / 5 nights

Session 5A: July 13 - 18 Cost: $340/camper Registration Deadline: June 20 Be part of the wild life at Camp Wasiu II. This is your chance to stay up all night at camp! While everyone is sleeping, you will be up enjoying activities that can only be done at night. Discover how to cook outdoors, build forts, and make fires. Learn survival skills for a truly unique experience, all while completing parts of the Night Owl badge. Don’t mind a little dirt? Then grab your camp friends, come explore, and have an amazing wilderness experience. Don’t worry, you will be able to sleep in, too!

Camp with your troop while GSSN staff and volunteers coordinate meals and some of the daily activities like swimming, canoeing, campfires, and archery (not available for Girl Scout Daisies). Troops will plan and lead their own badge work, crafts, and freetime activities. Camp Wasiu II has so much to offer that we have decided to put together a guide of activities in and around camp which will help troops make the most of their time. NOTE: Due to space limitations and to allow as many girls to experience camp as possible, please only register the number of adults allowed by the following ratios: Daisies = 2 adults for every 4 girls, Brownies = 2 adults for every 8 girls, Juniors = 2 adults for every 12 girls, Cadettes-Ambassadors = 2 adults for every 16 girls.

Cookies = Camp! The Girl Scout Cookie Program helps girls learn goal setting, decision making, money management, people skills, and business ethics, but did you know that it can also help send your daughter to camp? She’s with Me

CIT I (Counselor in Training)

Session 2: June 27 - 29 Cost: $80 per person Registration Deadline: June 6 This exciting weekend gives girls and their favorite female adult role model the opportunity to share the beauty of the outdoors and create special bonds and memories together. This overnight camp experience offers a sampling of camp activities such as arts and crafts, nature hikes, canoeing, and swimming, as well as some quality time to just relax with your favorite gal pal. Moms, aunts, and grandmas, this is your chance to be a camper again, or for the first time. It’s time to camp like a girl!

June 22 - July 3 Cost: $399 Registration Deadline: May 30 Find your inner leader at Camp Wasiu II. Camp counselors are near and dear to the hearts of hundreds of girls who attend camp each summer. Experience the challenges and rewards of working with younger girls. You will learn to teach songs, games, and camp activities while earning your CIT I pin. The CIT I program fulfills the prerequisite requirements for the CIT II program.

He’s with Me

3 days / 2 nights Session 2: June 27 - 29 Cost: $80 per person Registration Deadline: June 6 Grab your dad, grandpa, or even your favorite uncle for a fantastic camp experience. You and your main guy will experience camp side-by-side and spend quality time together discovering camp activities as a team. Swim, hike, sing, canoe, and cook outdoors. You will even participate in some “He’s with Me” challenges. Make memories that will last a lifetime!

15 days / 14 nights Entering Grades 11 - 12 July 6 - 20 Cost: $499 Registration Deadline: June 13 This is your opportunity to come back to camp and learn about the different staff positions that make camp happen every summer. Enhance your skills while spending your days discovering the role of program, waterfront, health, kitchen, or administrative staff. After you have found the camp position you are most passionate about, you can pick one area to specialize in for the remainder of the camp session. Once you have completed CIT II, you can apply to return the following summer as a camp counselor.

Save the Date Attention 6th-12th Grade Campers! 3 days / 2 nights

SAVE THE DATE: September 5 - 7 Cost: $25 per girl or volunteer If you attend camp during the summer of 2014, you will receive a special invitation to come back for a “Zombie Apocalypse”- inspired reunion weekend! Reunite with your summer friends and try to outlast the Wasiu II Zombies. All reunion attendees are welcome to invite a friend who didn’t attend camp to show her how much fun camp can be. No bus transportation is available for the camp reunion. *Please note that a separate registration link will be sent to all 6th-12th graders who attended camp. Do not register at this time.

We Need You!

Calling all Girl Scout Dads, Moms, Aunts, Uncles, Neighbors, and Families! June 11 - 15

Take the Bus! The camp experience begins with songs, meeting a new friend, and laughter with the camp counselors on the hourand-a-half bus ride to camp from the GSSN Council or from Truckee. Bus transportation is only $30 each way and more fun than you can imagine! Registration Deadline: Three weeks before session, or when bus is sold out. *No bus is available for weekend sessions.

1. Who can attend camp?

This is your chance to make a difference for Girl Scouts and Camp Wasiu II. After a long winter under the Sierra snowpack, Camp Wasiu II needs some TLC. From making the buildings sparkle to ensuring that the platforms are in safe repair, there is something for every volunteer from 8 to 80 to do at camp. The great food, the tent, and the friendship are all included in the experience. All you have to do is go online, register, tell us about yourself or your group, and come to camp with your personal gear. You can come for a day or for up to all five days. Come help out and you will earn the unending thanks of hundreds of girls who attend summer camp. We are especially in need of special trade skills like plumbing, electrical, and carpentry.

September 6 - 7 and/or October 3 - 5 Don’t forget about Camp Wasiu II Winter Pack-It-Up weekends, when we get camp ready for the winter.

FAQs

Any girl who is in the appropriate grade for her selected sessions can attend Girl Scout Day Camp or Camp Wasiu II. Nonmembers pay $15 membership registration fee.

2. When can I register? • •

Registrations are accepted any time after March 1, 2014. The registration deadline is three (3) weeks before a session starts. REGISTER EARLY AS ALL CAMP SESSIONS FILL QUICKLY!

3. How do I register? • • • • • • • •

Go to gssn.org to click on the camp web banner or website tab. Complete the appropriate form and submit by mail, fax or in person with the required deposit. Only cash (in person), personal check, troop check, money order, VISA, or MasterCard are accepted for the required deposit. Deposits are non-refundable and non-transferable. GSSN Cookie Dough and financial assistance cannot be accepted as the deposit but will be accepted toward any final payment due. Incomplete paper registrations will be returned and your camper will not be registered until the completed registration has been resubmitted. Financial assistance is available. Registration for all camp sessions begins on March 1, 2014.

DAY CAMP

& other outdoor activities Entering Grades 1-3 Knot Just Another Day Camp GSSN Council Conference Center 5 days

Date: July 21 - 25 8 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. daily Cost: $150/camper Registration Deadline: June 27 Come experience the outdoors and all it has to offer. If you have thought about camp but aren’t quite ready to sleep away from home, this session is for you. Put up a tent, go hiking, take fun field trips, make trail mix, and gain new camp skills. There will be lots of traditional Camp Wasiu II songs and games so that you will be ready to go to resident camp next summer! On the last night of day camp you can choose to sleep over in the conference center in the tent that you put up with your new friends.

Entering Grades 4-6 Off the Beaten Path

GSSN Council Conference Center 5 days Date: July 21 - 25 8 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. daily Cost: $150/camper Registration Deadline: June 27 Take an Eco-Tour of Reno during a week of outdoor adventures. Get in touch with the natural world around you while visiting the zoo, planting trees, and exploring the hiking trails and parks around Reno. Bird watching and photo tourism await you during this week filled with field trips and adventure. Take home your own photo journal at the end of the week.

Mad Science

GSSN Council Conference Center 5 days Date: July 28 - August 1 8 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. daily Cost: $150/camper Registration Deadline: July 4 Explore the world of science that is all around you. Find your inner zoologist, have a blast learning about space, and create your own fun foods using the chemistry of baking. Take field trips to fun science locations around Reno like the Discovery Museum and find out just how much fun science really is.

Calling All Program Aides! GSSN Council Conference Center July 21 - 25 or July 28 - August 1 Cost: $60 Have fun and put your program aide skills to use working with first through sixth-graders at day camp this summer in Reno. Girl Scout Program Aides will be able to attend all field trips with day campers and must be available all five days of the session from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Girls must have completed Program Aide Training before June 27, 2014.
