ave you wondered how the employment market has changed as we start moving to the endemic phase in our nation? According to statistics from the Ministry of Manpower (MOM), 93.6 per cent of graduates in Singapore were employed within six months of completing their degree, where they are engaged in either fulltime, part-time, temporary or freelance work, while graduates who were successfully employed under a full-time permanent role staggered down roughly 12 per cent from 81 per cent in 2019. According to a study in Great Britain (Goodwin, 2012), activities such as internships, job shadowing, identification of skills gaps and presentation skills proved to be beneficial in improving employability. Studies have also shown that hiring employers appreciate candidates who possess the right attitude and willingness to learn, as well as teamwork and effective communications skills.
