La Chance’s ambitious purpose is to provide a contemporary interpretation of the French ornamental and decorative furniture tradition. La Chance products are united by their emphasis on sophisticated, rich and distinctive design produced using noble materials. The brand reintroduces warm and uninhibited luxury and aims to break away from cold, impersonal and conceptual design. The result is a collection of strong personality products for disinhibited interiors. To create the collection, La Chance has gathered the best talents of the effervescent French ‘Nouvelle Vague’, but also seeks inspirations around the world, with talents from Italy, Netherlands, Israel, Sweden, Belgium, Poland and the US.

La Chance was born following Louise and Jean-Baptiste’s enthusiasm for a passion, design and how to show their vision about it. Before La Chance, Louise and Jean-Baptiste used to be respectively architect and businessman. They have lived in India and China, drawn offices in London and houses in Haiti, worked for big luxury groups and in start-ups.

Sebastian Herkner

“There is a sensitivity and identity to my work that emphasizes the function, the material and the detail. I transport and interpret characteristics from various contexts of society and culture and implement them in new artifacts. This character infuses the most everyday objects with respect and personality. In this manner, seemingly contrary things can experience esteem.“ Sebastian Herkner, born 1981, studied Product Design at Offenbach Design Academy. During his studies he did an internship at Stella McCartney in London and developed a particular liking there for color, material and their connection. Since graduating from Offenbach in 2007 he has worked as assistant in the Product Design faculty and is in charge of projects in the realm of integrated design. As early as 2006 Sebastian Herkner established his own studio and has since then been involved in freelance projects for various companies

and institutes. Alongside the design of exhibitions and trade fair presentations his second focus is on designing everyday objects. He is influenced in this by his observations of people and their actions. In this context it is important to look beyond your own disciplines in order to achieve a value-added for the user. Sebastian Herkner is not so much influenced by trends or current consumer criteria, because what interests him is a collage of simple techniques and traditional materials coupled with a simple mechanical principle and an unambiguous function. His idea of sustainability consists of employing traditional manufacturing techniques and their unique character. In 2006 Luca Nichetto founded a multidisciplinary design studio in Venice, Italy, which specialised in industrial design, product design and design consultancy. From the very beginning, this studio collaborated with a number of different brands and organisations, quickly expanding its influence far beyond Venice and Italy’s borders. Five years later, in 2011, Nichetto opened a second studio in Stockholm, Sweden. This practice was founded in response to an ever growing number of requests for collaboration from international companies, with the studio’s work also broadening out from its initial focus on designed objects. Nichetto Studio has since expanded into areas such as interior design and architecture.

Today, Nichetto Studio works with a variety of brands and clients from all around the world, and its expertise is sought out across all design disciplines. A deep passion for, and knowledge of, industrial and craft manufacturing processes runs through every aspect of the studio’s work. Nichetto Studio’s projects abound in carefully selected cultural references and a keen attention to detail. The practice’s unique position within both Scandinavian and Italian design culture has given Nichetto Studio worldwide recognition. Appreciation of its work extends far beyond the confines of the design industry.

The designer’s ability to transform from text to functionality can be seen in these sketches. His idea of designing translates from the inspiration in objects and forms that are always in everday use but can be unnoticed.

The second round shows the understanding between the scribbles and functionality of the objects that the designers wanted to communicate through his design.

The final round of sketches show the flowing form of basic eometric shapes being finalized by the designer. The TAKO trademark of the open fold can be seen being incorporated in the sketches.

TAKO is a furniture collection designed for modern living spaces. The design features fragile foundations but with surdy materials and sturdy curves

-Sophisticated, clean and classical furniture-

Inspired from the the designs of La Chance, the TAKO furniture collection reflects the company’s design principles and respects the sophistication that is seen is all of it’s designs. The TAKO collection is united by the traditional high quality materials for the prefect finish with a classical design, to make it a part of the product line at La Chance. The inspiration for the TAKO collection is none other than an empty Taco shell that forms part of mexican food. The desin is as he was able to take something evetremely simple and transform it into a furniture collection that bridges an important gap in the La Chance. 20
