La Fรกbrica GIFF Center for Cinematographic Development and Production is a brand new facility conceived and promoted by the Guanajuato International Film Festival (GIFF) and funded by the Guanajuato State Government that will feature cover sets, recording studios, post-production suites, production offices, conference spaces, state-of-the-art film and performance theaters, a research and development area, a residence, an interactive digital library and an audiovisual history museum that will allow it to join the list of world-class film institutes and production facilities.
La Fábrica GIFF will begin construction in 2014 and will be completed by 2016, providing San Miguel de Allende– declared an UNESCO “World Heritage Site” and recently rated the #1 City in the World by Condé Nast Traveler 2013– with a multidisciplinary, multiuse, audiovisual training, production and exhibition facility, unique to Mexico.

LA FÁBRICA GIFF will serve as an incubator for film professionals to
further develop their audiovisual projects as well as provide services for any phase of development, production or post-production.
La Fábrica GIFF will provide sound stages, cover sets, production workshops, production offices, equipment sourcing and post-production suites for motion pictures, animation and video special effects, private screening rooms, state-of-the-art theaters and permanent accommodations for up to 60 crew members. Servicing everything from small-indie to mid-range film productions, La Fábrica GIFF invites international productions to film in Guanajuato’s wide variety of secure filming locations manned by hard-working and experienced Mexican film crews.

FILM FRIENDLY GUANAJUATO The Guanajuato State Government has always supported international film productions providing bilingual location services, location scouting, permitting, crew bookings and line production services for every type of budget and project. The experience and local knowledge of the 19-year-old Guanajuato Film Commission, now a part of the Guanajuato Secretary of Tourism, is a major asset to visiting film productions. Guanajuato features an Inland Port, capable of receiving air cargo and providing Inland Customs Services, at the Guanajuato International Airport (BJX). Mexican crew base, eager and honored to work on a major film production, are highly regarded worldwide for their enthusiasm, speed, work ethic, expertise and high level of craftsmanship.
