Studying for a test by Anna Júlía Magnúsdóttir
STUDYING FOR A TEST
Students often have a hard time when they have to study for a test. Some have test anxiety and get very stressed about the exam. Test anxiety is a very serious thing and it can cause depression. The cause of it could be many things. For example if the student is putting too much pressure on himself and is afraid of failure. But there are many ways to handle test anxitety aswell. * First of all prepare yourself. Being prepared for an exam and knowing you have done everything you could is a very good feeling. Develop good study habits. Don´t start studying the night before the exam. Start preparing yourself a few days before and maybe just for an hour at a time. * Take brakes. You must take brakes when you are studying. Every 40-60 minutes stand up, stretch and walk
around the house for a few minutes. Or just play your favorite song and dance a little to shake off the stress. * Stay healthy. Get enough sleep, exercise (you can go out for a walk in the fresh air), eat healthy and take care of yourself. Taking an exam when you´re tired makes it a hundred times harder. * Talk to somebody. It can be a professional counselor, a family member or a friend. It helps to talk about it and sometimes the people around you can help you more than you think. * Focus on yourself. When you take the exam you have to block everything around you. Take deep breaths. Don´t let anyone or anything interrupt you in any way. You can maybe use earplugs if the teacher allows that.
* Snacks. When you study it can help to have some snacks beside you. Even though you only want ice cream, chocolate or any other sweets when you are studying it is so much better to have something healthy. The sugar will make you have a lack of energy and feel tired. Have some fruits, berries or nuts instead. And then when you are finished you can maybe reward yourself with some sweets. * Stay positive! Your test grade does not define you. If you do bad this time you will just do better the next time. Just do your best and don´t expect too much of yourself. Everything will be ok!

Góðgerðarvikan by Díana Ösp Davíðsdóttir
Góðagerðavika (goodwill week) is thrown every year in our school, Fsu. It started in 2012 when NFSu decided they wanted to do something good. Fsu was in partnership with Rauða krossinn. Rauði krosinn collects money and clothes for people who need it over seas. At the góðgerðavika students in the school can challenge each other and put money on it, like f.x. “Anna Júlía dares Kristín Hanna to color her hair pinks and puts 2000,- kr on it” and if other students like the challenge, they can also put money on it. All the money Fsu collects goes to the children in Jos, Nigeria. Góðgerðavikan is really fun, both, students have fun and childrens in Nigeria get help. Down in the lobby in the there is a bin where you can donate money. All the money we raise, a child in Jos might get a chance to a better life, they might get a chance to go to school and university. Over the years kids have done alot of fun things in the góðgerðavika. Two years ago at the góðgerðavika a girl named Dagmar was dared to shave her hair off and she did it. The school raised 250.000,- kr for doing it. Imagine how much water and food that is for the kids in Syria. The hair grows fast back, so why not doing it ? This year the school master, Olga Lísa got dared to shave her her off, and the school has raised about 163.000,- kr. Last year the students of Fsu raised half a million Icelandic krónur.

INTERVIEW by Kristín Hanna Jóhannesdóttir
I met a girl named Þórunn, and I talked to her and asked her some questions. Þórunn is a 16 year old girl and goes to school called Fjölbrautaskóli Suðurlands, or FSu. She is very active in social activities and is also really smart. Her hometown is Selfoss , and she is 164,5cm high. Þórunn is known for always being happy, and when people ask her why she is always so happy, her answer is that it is better smile and be happy, than being sad and not so happy. There is not a single person she can't get to laugh. A fun fact about Þórunn is that she can hold her breath for 3 minutes and 7 seconds. She is very active in athletics, and she says that the only reason she goes to practise, is to have fun and get stronger. Þórunn came in second when the freshmens voted for their freshmens leader. Þórunn is good at everything she does, and she does it well. She is overall a great person and is amazing.
