Synopsis
In Vegesia, a kingdom where peace rules the world, was under the protection of a magical stone known as the Sacred Emerald.
In this beautiful town, every fairy was forced to protect couples and collect power to the Sacred Emerald‌

Chapter1 A Fairy Town Nothing last forever, even the light will fade out one day…
Vegesia is a small town. It is being blessed as a Utopia. There are no disasters exist in this beautiful town. “Why this valley always twinkle green light? ” This is the question that almost everyone passes through this valley would ask, and the habitants in Vagesia would always respond in proud that they are the elects by the sacred emerald.

“But where exactly is the so-called sacred emerald? Does anyone in your valley have ever seen it?” “No, nobody here have ever seen it, but you know when you are being blessed by God, you do not even need to find God but you’ll know there’s a God or more exactly that the Sacred Emerald is here watching you and protecting you…” People from other valleys regard them as proud and strange freaks. But the Vagesian do not mind it. They know they are being blessed by some magical power…

“Please pass my meal to me, my dear Nayru” One elder fairy walked forward and said. “OK, just wait a second.” Nayru said. Nayru walked to the kitchen and picked up some vitamin and passed them to all the fairies.
“Ok, as
the meals are all in the order, let’s start our weekly meeting right now." The elder fairy said.
Fairies have been living in Vegesia since the Sacred Emerald has been set in this town. It is said by the oldest fairy that the Sacred Emerald were made by their ancestors. But at first it was just a little magic stone that collected the surplus magic power of the fairies. However, an unknown power translated it to be even stronger than its owner fairies and dominated 6
their entire fairy's system. Fortunately, the magic stone only governed fairies to protect the couples from evil. It controls ferries to absorb the quarries power from couples so that it could be bigger and be more powerful. Fairies that sent the more power to the Sacred Emerald, the more magic power they would win from it. So, every couple in Vegesia had their secret protected fairies. And that was why couples in Vegesia could always live in peace.
"Now, let's start our weekly report on all your work. State clearly the problems that your couples have met." The chairman said in his attractive and deeply voice.

"My couples lied to each other but they pretend everything is ok. What can I do to protect them?" One fairy said in his soft and unconfident voice. "Give you this magic medicine then put them into their water and make sure they drink it all. Everything will be all right. And remember! Do not forget to collect the resentment power from them. Lying is the beginning of all quarries and one lie could ruin a million truths. So it always contains high grudge power." The chairman said with somehow sadness on his face. Another voice came out from chairman’s right hand side: "Dear chairman, I felt one of my couples has affairs with others. I don't know what to do...

The chairman picked up a bag and passed it to the fairy sitting beside him and said: "This magic wand is for you. Find the one that he or she is having affairs with, and then shoot the magic on them all. They will forget all about this. We should all remember that in all affairs of life, every moment, people have a choice, but they always choose the wrong one. So every fairy, remember that now the couples you are protecting are the best mirror for we all. And we shall learn from their mistakes.ďź‚

Every fairy reports the quarries of their couples, except.... "Nayru, how about your couples? It seems that every week you have nothing to say." "My dear chairman, I am sorry to say that my couples Mr. and Mrs. Brightness are totally born to be together. They care each other too much that I do not think I can find any possibility in which they will angry or resent each other‌ " "Umm... this is a special case. But keep observing their life, ok? Remember, if we don’t keep giving the resentment power to the Sacred Emerald, this fairy kingdom will all disappeared. We are here to protect couples although it is hilarious that we are expecting

their quarrels in named of protecting them‌� The chairman accidentally revealed his sadness and said. "Yes sir‌ I will remember it and try my best." Nayru said.
Nayru is the smartest fairy in Vegesia. She has succeeded in protecting several couples from danger and has collected the largest dose of magic in record. Because of her large magic power, she has been voted to be the annual most powerful fairy. However, this time, after the death of her last couple, she met the most difficult cases ever. Mr. and Mrs. Brightness love each other so much that no matter how hard Nayru tried, there was no grudge between them.

" If they keep optimistic like this forever and ever, my work, my life and my future will be destroyed. There must be some way that can let them hate each other, so that I can be the most popular fairy again. I know the more love they give to each other the more grudge they will send when it comes to the time of a quarrel. I've been working so hard. I cannot be beaten by this silly couple..."

Chapter 2 Darkness Mrs. Brightness walked forward and kissed Mr. Brightness and said: "My darling, today is our fifth anniversaries. You do remember it, right?" "Huh? Umm.... I guess... I guess... Sorry, I forget it." "You said you'll remember it for your whole life but what's now?" The woman felt sad and turned around walking to the kitchen. She was thirst, so she opened the refrigerator and then saw a box. At first she thought it was the cake that her mom brought yesterday. But as she walked closer and opened it she saw... "Oh... Darling, you are so sweet...." Mrs. Brightness said and slowly picked up the ring putting on the cake.

This is how Mr. And Mrs. Brightness love each other. They enjoy every surprise in their life. Even though they have been married five years after their ten years dating, they seem to be always filled with joy and love. “My dear, why do you think I would forget things that I have promised?” Mr. Brightness said. "I am sorry. I did not mean to distrust you. I should know you will always keep your promise. And this gift is for you. I hope no matter what comes to our life, we can face it all together.”

Every couple’s days in Vegesia are so sweet, but there are no couples like Mr. and Mrs. Brightness who showed their love from their bottom of their heart without any helps from fairies. And this is why Nayru do not know where to collect the power. “I am the best fairy with great power.” Nayru kept murmuring…
“I will see how you two can live on
with love in cases of the difficulties I planned for you.”Nayru said in sniggering. In the 1930s, the Great Depression affected the whole world, including this beautiful town, Vegesia.
How
you guess the Great Depression would happen? Yes, it was all Nayru’s magic. It affected people in nearly all aspects of every day’s life. Businesses closed and people lost all of their money. The unemployment rate 15
has been falling to 25%. And although the Vegesian were protecting by fairies, they were still affected by the people from other countries. Mr. Brightness was one of the sufferers. He was being dismissed and lost lots of money on his investment.
At first, Nayru was
expecting to see Mr. Brightness feeling depressed and yelled at his wife as other men did, but all he saw only let Nayru feel he was fail again… “My dear, you do not need to say anything. I know there’s something bad happened to you…
But keep
in your mind…I will be here supporting you. Cheer up, okay?” Mrs. Brightness said and turned off the light. “Okay, there’s nothing to worry as long as you are with me. Thank you and good night, my dear…” 16
The Brightness fell asleep with their hands holding tightly. Nayru felt depressed and angry. He has tried so hard to make all this happen but the Brightness are always optimistic. However, thanks to Nayru’s high magic, the total resentment rate has reached a new record.
The Sacred Emerald seemed to be bigger and, without noticed, darker than before…

Chapter3 Stationary World 
The Great Depression was the deepest and longestlasting economic downturn in history. It began soon after the stock market crash, which sent Wall Street into a panic and wiped out millions of investors. In Vegesia, it caused steep declines in industrial output and rising levels of unemployment as failing companies laid off workers. When the Great Depression reached its nadir, many Vegesians were unemployed and this set people in a worried situation. Many couples therefore quarreled over mere trifles. All the fairies were busying protecting their couples and it seems much easier to collect the grudge power from the couple than before.

“Hey! Wait… Are you Nayru, oh…thanks God! This is the Nayru!! I’ve always been your fan since I was little.” One young fairy ran forward and stopped Nayru. “Oh! Sorry, I haven’t introduced myself. My name is Dadeedoo. I have just moved from another fairy town. In my hometown, almost all the fairy knows about you. Thanks to your great magic this time. I collected so much power from my couples. They spat with each other almost every day. I am so busy protecting them but well… In the other hand, I am happy I can collect and contribute more power to the Sacred Emerald.” The young fairy’s endless flow of word totally wore Nayru down but he could not reveal how unhappy he was and said: “Nice to meet you, Dadeedoo. I am so 19
glad that my magic helped you this much. Hope you can keep improving. And I have some work to deal with. I am sorry to say that I should go…” Nayru was impatient and turned to leave. “Wait! I moved to this town is not just for seeing you. I have so many unique legendary stories percolating only in my hometown to share with you. I have always dreamed of this day’s coming. I have heard about that the sacred emerald is a mirror…” “I am sorry, Dadeedoo. I don’t have time now. Can you please find your friends and do not disturb me anymore?” Finally Nayru showed his impatient and left without giving Dadeedoo a glance. “I thought… I thought… You are my friend…” Dadeedoo murmured and said. “You will regret how 20
you just treated me. The Sacred Emerald will pay you back…” Since then, Dadeedoo had been busy working. He collected so much power to the Sacred Emerald. Even more than Nayru had done before. The more power he got, strangely he could hear the more sounds murmuring in his mind. Some strange power seemed to tell Dadeedoo that he was not just a fairy and he had an important mission to complete. In order to know where that power came, Dadeedoo worked so hard until one day…
Mrs. Brightness had almost finished preparing lunch and said “Honey, time for lunch! Today I have prepared your favorite meal--beef stew for you!” 21
Mr. Brightness picked up the tableware and said: “Wow! It looks so delicious! I am going to pig out.” The cuckoo clock strikes the hours with the sound like: “Cuckoo… Cuckoo…” Suddenly, “Kling… King…” The forks fell down and Mr. Brightness was stationary like dead. He could not move nor speak. But he could still see and hear from others. All men in Vegesia were set at a standstill after 12 o’clock. Women were all frightened and sacred, praying that all this was just a nightmare. However, they will never know they were in the same situation in men’s eyes…

Chapter4 Mirror The green light fades out in Vegesia. For the following one year, people who had passed this town all regarded it as a deserted town. They saw nothing but gloomy and sinister buildings which kept people away from this town. It was not actually a deserted town. There were men and women living, but they were all stationary in their views. All the Vegesians were desperately finding what commanded their place and what made their mates be like this. The questions lingered in their mind whereas they did not know where to find the answers. As the time passing, they dropped into desperation‌

The fairies all knew what happened but it was like a taboo to say the direct problem. For the whole year, nobody would mention the Sacred Emerald had gone. If they mentioned it, it was just like telling their family they were all going to die‌Every fairy seemed to surrender to despair except Nayru. She had collected many clues in which will be useful for finding the thief. Although her magic power was decreased day by day as many of others, she thought it should not be the end of her life. She still had lots of dreams to fulfill and to complete. So she still looked after Mr. and Mrs. Brightness and surprisingly she found that although they could not move nor speak, they still cared each other by sharing the same thoughts. It seems that they could communicate by 24
heart. Nayru remembered that the chairman once said: “People are the mirror of our life.” She rethought it and murmured: “They are really having good names. I saw brightness in their eyes even though they are in the difficulties. What makes our world being like this? Collecting the resentment power is useless and meaningless…”
She looked at the Brightness again
and suddenly jumped up and said: “That’s it! The mirror of our life…The Sacred Emerald is not collecting couples’ resentment power. It is a mirror of our heart!” Nayru recalled her memories about helping her first couples. The feeling of seeing others happy had once meant so much to her. However, it was not known when and how she changed her mind to only protect them because she needed their grudge 25
power to be stronger. Moreover, she even planned a panic for all the people. She felt thoroughly ashamed. “It is a mirror of our heart… A mirror? Oh! How come I have never thought of this? There is no other fairy’s town exist nearby!
Dadeedoo must be
someone else and I am sure he must be related to all these crises.”
The darkness in Vegesia seemed to be gloomier than ever…

Chapter5 Greed “I have never felt this wonderful. I know I am different. I am too distinguished to only be a fairy. I know I am different…” Dadeedoo murmured and playing a song over and over again. “No matter what we breed we still are made of greed this is my kingdom come this is my kingdom come” Dadeedoo used to be a king in the ancient Vegesia fairy town. He was too powerful and serious that everybody was afraid of him. However, when he found out the secret of the Sacred Emerald, he changed it to the pattern he wanted but the lingering side effect made him forget who he was. Many years 27
after, due to Nayru’s high magic of the Great Depression, Dadeedoo had slowly recovered. The greed in their mind was so familiar that recalled memories in King Dadeedoo’s mind. He stole the Sacred Emerald and possessed it as it can bring him forever youth and power.
Nayru was weaker days after days. She would like to find Dadeedoo to fight for the Sacred Emerald, but he knew he could not do it by herself. She asked many other fairies for help, but nobody would like to support her and thought she was out of her mind. Nayru was disappointed and eventually she got a new idea. She wanted the Brightness accompanies. In spite of they could not see each nor talk to each other, they 28
could still feel each other. Nayru talked with them separately and as expected they all agreed without any second thought. “Why do you think Mr. Brightness would also agree on it? What if he actually did not agree and all I have said was l lie?” Nayru spoke in her weak voice. “He has promised me that we will face all difficulties no matter what comes to our life. And I know he will always keep his promise. Although we cannot see each other, hear each other or even touch each other, as long as I know he is alive, I should be brave to live for him and that is what love really counts” Mrs. Brightness said in a smile. Nayru was touched by the Brightness as they two almost gave the same replied as another. She was 29
confident in taking them to fight back the Sacred Emerald. “What should we prepare for the fighting?” Mr. Brightness asked. “Nothing” Nayru smiled and then said, “You will know what is the most powerful weapon you have”
Way to find King Dadeedoo was long and dangerous. The sun enveloped itself in awful darkness. When the light fades out, all the sinners crawl. Nayru used up almost all her power on protecting them. Finally, they met King Dadeedoo… “ Dadeedoo, I know it was you stole the Sacred Emerald! Give it back to me. It should not be

possessed by anybody in greed … ”Nayru used up almost all her strength and said. “You mean people in greed as you? HAHAHA! Oh! I forgot to thank you for reminding me I was a king for this kingdom and this stone definitely should be possessed by me.” Dadeedoo said with his unceasing evil smile. “No! It does not possess to anybody. It is a mirror of our heart and you see! How dark our hearts are right now…” Nayru pointed at the Sacred Emerald, which is now all dark, and then said: “I believed at first the Sacred Emerald can be sacred is not letting us collecting grudge but collecting the joy. Just like its bright green color, it brings people peace and would never hurt others. You reset it and let it become an 31
evil stone in which you can gain profit from it. Everybody becomes your slaves to help you collect grudge so that the Sacred Emerald will destroy people’s life first then all the fairies will live without power.” “You do really smart, Nayru.” King Dadeedoo grinned and then said: “But it is all too late, the Sacred Emerald is totally dark now, which means I am going to be the most powerful King ever. You and those silly couples will all die in desperation.” “No, then I am afraid you should be prepared for disillusionment cause…” Nayru used all her last magic power and collected the joy from the Brightness. Then sent it to the Sacred Emerald… 32
At the instant of the explosion, the whole town was in sound sleep. Vegesians are all awakened. Couples were happy to hold each other so did the Brightness. Slowly, a paper note fell down:

Thank you for your help Mr. and Mrs. Brightness. When you see this letter, I probably have traveled to another town... For these years, I saw you care and love each other. It really touched me so much. And saying of protecting you, I think I should say thank you for your protection. It was you who teach me how love really is. And you may be confused about how I can be that sure that King Dadeedoo still cannot rule the world. It is because if he can recover his memory and I think the Emerald can also recover to be Sacred. It is like you two, always light bight inside‌ The green light fades out, but love is always here. Best wishes Nayru 34
