Student Representation and Participation Student Council

The Student Council (Art. 171 of Section 3 of Chapter 3 of Title 4 of the UA Statutes) is the decision-making body responsible for representing students. It is composed, at least, of the student members of the University Senate and the representatives of the faculty and school senates. The President of the Student Council (Art. 172 of Section 3 of Chapter 3 of Title 4 of the UA Statutes) is the highest individual position in student representation. It is chosen by and from among the members of the Student Council.

Each faculty and school has a Student Representation (Art. 173 of Section 3 of Chapter 3 of Title 4 of the UA Statutes) as the body responsible for collective representation. The University (Art. 175 of Section 3 of Chapter 3 of Title 4 of the UA Statutes) shall provide the students’ representative bodies with the means necessary to perform their functions. Similarly, the University shall ensure that the students can combine their representation activities with their studies, without any prejudice to their rights. The University shall encourage students’ active participation and associations.

Office of the Vice-President for Students and Employment

The Office of the Vice-President for Students and Employment is the University Council area responsible for all student matters. The Office of the Vice-President for Students and Employment is responsible for the following areas: university admission, student support, student information, scholarships and grants, work placement programmes, student and graduate employability, social matters, participation and representation. The Office of the Vice-President for Students and Employment consists of the following offices and units: Access and University Orientation, Employment and Support to Students, Student Service (Admissions Office, Work Placement Office, Scholarships Office, Degree and University Identity Card-IUC Office), Student Support Centre (SSC), Information Service and Observatory for Labour Integration. The Office of the Vice-President for Students and Employment is located in the University Council and Administration Services Building.
