T

his week we follow the River Turia and head for Tuéjar, on the CV35, which nestles compactly below the remains of the old castle and the Ermita de San Cristóbal. In the attractive main square, take a look at the splendid Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de los Ángeles, a Baroque structure that dates from the end of the 17th century and boasts a pretty bell tower. The Ermita de la Inmaculada and the nearby scenic spot of El Azud are also worth seeing.

Y

ou can also head north towards Titaguas, where you will find popular architecture dating from the 18th century. However, of the most important buildings here is the 16th century Iglesia de Salvador. The Ermita del Virgen del Remedio is located on a nearby hill. Important cave art, such as the paintings of Rincón del Tío Escribano, are also to be found here. Delightful forest track that even has paths to make it easier for you to navigate the bends of the Turia riverbed.

B

etween Tuéjar and Titaguas, the route takes you near the banks of the River Turia. From Titaguas, the Corralizas de Canales road takes you to the Hondón trail, which winds its way through dense pinewoods on its relentless descent towards the bed of the River Turia. This tranquil part of the journey takes you through a remote spot of overwhelming beauty.

F

rom Tuéjar, another route takes you on a road that leads to the walls of the Bengéber reservoir. From here, you will approach Chelva via the wild banks of the River Turia in the very heart of La Serranía.

Y

ou will come across areas of great scenic and ecological worth among the sheer gorges that were carved by the River Turia. It’s worth taking this detour up the river to truly appreciate the atmosphere and scenery of this area.

Cheste Moto GP

This article was contributed to BRICHAT & Guide2Valencia by Lang Hunter See the advert for “LB WEB Solutions” Cheste town is situated just 26km from Valencia, and hosts the Valencian Community Moto GP race every year, around about late October / November. For a town of just 7500 peeps, it’s a pretty tranquil place, most of the time, but when you have a big motor racing circuit just at the edge of town, you know it’s also got a fair chance of being noisy as hell at times too. The Ricardo Tormo Circuit (named after one of Valencia’s most famous motorcycle legends) also holds Formula 1 testing (usually every December and/or January) as well at Formula Renault (a bit like the old formula 3000) the World Superbikes (another bike championship) and the World Touring Cars Championship (they used to show a lot of this on BBC). This year’s frivolities begin on the 6th of November, through to race day, on Sunday the 8th. Whether you are a motor sport fan or not, if you’re into parties & people, it’s without a doubt, well worth the effort of heading up to. For the unbelievers (shame on you – it’s sooo much more exciting than Formula 1!), the Moto GP is the pinnacle of motorcycle racing, where your heroes are messers Valentino Rossi, Jorge Lorenzo and our very own James Toseland. We all remember the greats such as Barry Sheene, Randy Mamola and Mick Doohan (what? Who they? Oh never mind). Anyway, this is F1 on 2 wheels. Slick, fast, dangerous, and great fun. And just to see the troops of bikers arriving in Cheste for the weekend is a spectacle in itself. So, fan or not? Well, is doesn’t really matter. This is one mad fiesta, probably not for the kids though. It’s drink fuelled, loud, brash, but overall, just a big fun weekend. Bikes are a side issue. Everyone goes simply to have fun. You don’t have to go the races, as most of the fun happens right in town, from the Friday night, right through until Sunday evening, when things start to wind down.

BRITCHAT . 4

Personally, if you haven’t been to a motorbike race before, and you’re living handy to Valencia, I really would suggest forking out the moolah, just to get a bit of the atmosphere. Prices start at a pretty reasonable €35 for a ‘mountain pass’. Hmm, well, that basically lets you onto the hill that overlooks the circuit, where you can sit on you bum and watch the proceedings. Not the most comfortable, but bring your cool box and you can have a picnic, with a beer and get 3 days of racing for less than the price for a night out. Much better is to buy one of the cheaper seat tickets, which start at €70 rising to €200 for one by the pits. Funnily, enough, that’s the price we paid 4 years ago, when we first went to see the Moto GP, so it hasn’t gone up in price at all. Fair dues. Worried about buying a cheap seat? Don’t be, this circuit is fantastic – it’s situated down in a bowl, almost like an amphitheatre, and you can see at least 80% of the circuit from any seat, so you really do get to see the whole race. Fantastic. Plus there’s geezers floating around all day with these great beer backpacks, selling away like nobodys business. A fairly intelligent idea, yes, you may be able to buy beer, but it’s no alcohol beer – let’s face it, thousands of bikers heading home after watching the race, with too much beer inside them = recipe for disaster! Smart move chaps. The circuit has a capacity of 120,000 peeps – I think it’s about 60-70000 seating, with the rest up on the mountain behind. I’d say the majority head to Cheste for the fiestas too. If you’ve been to Bunol for La Tomatina, here’s a gauge. They reckon 35,000+ people go to Bunol, treble that, and you get the picture for Cheste. In fact, some of the bars probably make more money in the Moto GP weekend than they do the rest of the year!! So, fancy the racing as well?

Out & About Chat Go for it, you’ll have a blast watching it, at probably the most spectator friendly circuit on the calendar. But, what’s in it for the non bike racing fans? Well, this is just one great big fiesta weekend. You don’t need to love your bikes to fit in in Cheste. We have been along 3 times for the Moto GP weekend, and although it’s calmed down these past couple of years, it’s still great fun. Lot’s of beer tents in the streets, lots of food stalls, loud music everywhere, bikers showing off their somewhat dubious riding skills (although this is being knocked on the head quite a bit these past couple of years), I’ve even seen a guy walking around with a mini moto (you’ve probably seen one of these little minature motorbikes, that have a real engine – makes you look like a big elephant on a bicycle) on his shoulder, revving it away to the music! Or, the guy who had a shopping trolley with a motorbike engine with a big fat exhaust just pushing it around town, revving away. Yes, some people are just mad. Oh yeah, then there these 2 guys that had bought a motorbike of ebay, just so they could bring it to Cheste to set it on fire. Haaa, god we really did have such a great time!!. But outside the madness, it’s just a great buzz. There really is nothing to be afraid off. There are people from all over the world here to just have a good time, and watch a bit of racing, and the whole things just seems to gel as a really friendly, big street party. While you’re there, if you fancy a big slap up meal, there’s a great restaurant just beside the circuit, in fact, you can see it from the A3 as well. It’s called La Carreta, and it’s a real old fashioned stylie Spanish Hotel/Restaurant, with old leather & wood chairs, and a real rustic feel. I love the place. Not sure what it’s like to get into at race weekend, probably bunged, but worth a jaunt, even if it’s just for a cold drink. If you fancy a few drinks and staying the weekend and don’t fancy sleeping in the car (been there, done it, worn the tee shirt), there are some hotels around, but they tend to be back in towards Valencia, or around the big Bonaire shopping centre.

There are a few small, privately owned B&B’s around you could try out. My personal fave is www.villalaspalmasvalencia.com as they are literally right on the circuit’s doorstep. In fact, I just don’t think there’s anywhere closer. Lovely people, and if you’re into your bikes, Mark can hook you up with a dirt biking tour thrown in too! I also know a couple more in and around, if anyone is looking for somewhere, just contact me! (and no, I’m not affiliated to any of them, and don’t get a free meal for recommending them!) Cheste is really simple to get to – If you’re from Valencia, just head up the A3 towards Madrid, and you can actually see the circuit from the motorway. If you’re over Lliria or the North West of Valencia, you can get there on the CV-50. Check out the circuit website for more directions. Above all, just get up there and enjoy yourself!! Kitchen Chat CREAM OF MINTED GARDEN PEA SOUP WITH CROUTONS

CREMA DE GUISANTES A LA MENTA CON TOSTONES

WHEN THE LARDER LOOKS BARE..........DON’T DESPAIR! Just a little improvisation with a few basic ingredients and there’s a delicious supper at hand. This is one of the easiest and quickest soups you can make. To make more than 2 portions just scale up the ingredients in proportion. Use the zest of the lemon to counterbalance the sweetness of the peas, without dulling the colour. *Vegetarians can omit the bacon and use vegetable stock. Ingredients 1 chicken stock cube 500ml/1 pint of boiling water 1 small lemon 2 rashers smoked streaky bacon vegetable oil 1 small onion knob of butter 300g/12oz frozen garden peas 1 tsp concentrated mint sauce 2 tbsp thick cream Croutons Any kind of white bread chopped into cubes then tossed in olive oil and grated Parmesan (or other) grated cheese. You could use garlic & herbs instead. Bake in a hot oven for 5 - 10 minutes until crusty and golden. Instructions Dissolve the stock cube in the boiling water. Remove paper-thin strips of zest from half the lemon and add to the stock. If using bacon, chop and fry it in a medium-sized pan in the vegetable oil until very crisp. Remove and drain on kitchen paper. Peel, halve and finely chop the onion. Gently reduce the onion in the butter, allowing about 10 minutes, then add the stock, peas and mint sauce. Boil for 3-4 minutes until the peas are very tender. Liquidise in batches. Return to pan and re-heat. Taste and adjust the seasoning. Serve with a lavish swirl of cream topped with the bacon and/or the Parmesan croutons (if using). ENJOY!

Pruebala y sazonala a tu gusto .

More on RYANAIR

Budget airline RyanAir once again has defended its position over returning to Manises, by demanding a similar amount of money as that received by Air Nostrum, and added that it was a complete waste of money to offer financing to an airline that was already part of national carrier Iberia. In a statement, the airline offered the opinion that the money granted to Air Nostrum was the result of a somewhat dubious public competition, but that RyanAir would be able to reverse the devastating fall in the number of tourists coming to Valencia.

THE BEACHES MALVARROSA & CABANYAL, IN THE CITY OF VALENCIA, HAVE OBTAINED THE Q QUALITY AG MARK CERTIFICATE AGAIN

Now, fines for pedestrians and bicycle riders in Valencia The Local Police will ticket pedestrians who clog the narrow sidewalks “Pedestrians must not dwell on the sidewalks in groups, when it forces other pedestrians to walk on the road.” So reads Article 46 of the draft ordinance for further movement processing the Valencia City Council for provisional approval by the plenary session this month. The rule seeks to regulate pedestrian and bicycle traffic. Thus, pedestrians must tread with caution, because penalties may be imposed for other strange reasons such as running, jumping or forming a group that annoys other users of the pavements. Nor can pedestrians wait for the bus outside the designated area for the bus stop, invading the pathway. All these faults are considered mild and may result in fines of 30 euros to 750 euros.

Valencia bikers can only go on the pavement indicated.

It will apply to the streets and pedestrian areas “if there is no sign of prohibition to prevent it. The maximum speed is 30 km / h on urban roads, 15 km / h in sidewalks and bike lanes and 10 km / h in pedestrian areas. In terms of parking, a bicycle can only be tied to railings if you use a device with plastic protection. Tying them to trees is prohibited the same as attaching them to building facades. In addition, riders cannot use headphones or mobile phones. This offense is considered serious and the fine could be from 750 euros to 1,500 euros. Drunk driving could cost the cyclist from 1,500 euros to 3,000 euros, as it is considered a very serious offence.

Last August, the Region of Valencia registered the second highest increase in overnight hotel stays among national tourists. This represented an interannual growth of 7.7% (5.5 points above the national average). Benidorm recorded the highest number of overnight stays in Spain, with 797,896. These figures, published in the latest Hotel Occupancy Survey conducted by the National Institute of Statistics (INE), confirm that the Region of Valencia is one of the leading destinations for national tourism. The Region of Valencia was the third most popular holiday destination among Spanish residents, with over 637,700 visitors and a total of 2,394,413 overnight stays (13.9% of the total for Spain), only behind Andalusia and Catalonia. These figures are partly due to the current climate, in which Spanish tourists prefer to choose destinations closer to home when planning their summer holidays. The city of Benidorm is still ahead of other destinations in terms of its popularity among Spanish residents, with close to 798,896 overnight stays in the month of August. This figure represents an increase of close to 11.9% in comparison with the same period of 2008 and is the best result for the past five years. The survey also highlights that the level of hotel occupancy reached close to 90%.

National situation The increase in national tourism is also extrapolated to other regions, where overnight stays by Spanish residents increased by 2.2% in comparison with August 2008. In fact, national tourists represented 58.8% of tourists staying in hotels.

For their part, cyclists will also be subject to new stand-

Valencia Community heavily in debt The economic crisis and urgent financial matters last year resulted in a worsening of the deficit for the Valencian Community. It ended the year in the red to the tune of 598 million Euros, according to information released by the Conselleria for Finance. Two important areas were marked in financial circles during the last year: term debt increased by 483.1 million Euros that overall ended 2008 being at over six billion Euros. The report also revealed that one of the largest sources of income for the Valencian Government - taxes and IVA - dropped during 2008 by 44%, that in reality meant that almost a billion Euros less was received from these two sources of income.

The new Ford C-Max, will be built in Almussafes Valencia The Ford motor company, presented its new C-Max at the International Motor Show in Frankfurt from the 17th to 27th September. This famous company, dedicated to the manufacture of cars, has made it known that they would present their new model C-Max, during the International Motor Show in Frankfurt, This car has been created based on the design of the concept cars ‘Iosis MAX’, which were presented at the International Motor Show in Geneva, and as we know today, this new model features a stylish more dynamic than a tourist class car.

Among the new technologies that are incorporated in this car are the new Ford EcoBoost petrol engine 1.6-liter directinjection, a system of semi-automatic parallel parking and a vehicle detection device in the blind spot, all these elements with the order to provide better user comfort and safety. The car, belonging to a new generation of global cars, developed for the C segment, is the first of this range, and goes on sale in the second half of 2010. During the Frankfurt Motor Show yesterday, Ford officially unveiled its new C-Max and announced that it will be made exclusively in the factory in Almussafes. The car will be available next year in Europe and in 2011 in the United States, where some 60,000 units are expected to be sold. In a reaction to this news, the UGT trades union, whose members are in the majority in Almussafes, stated that it was a happy moment that Valencia would be able to produce a car of world importance. The automaker Ford presented during the upcoming International Motor Show in Frankfurt (17 to 27 September) its new model C-Max, which is built exclusively at the production plant of the company in Almussafes (Valencia), reported the company today. This model will be released during the second half of 2010 and becomes the first car of a generation of global vehicles that are developed from the C-segment platform of the company. This comprehensive range will also feature the new Focus, which will arrive later next year.

9th October ...

So what’s it all about? El Rey Don Jaime 1 el Conquistador, James I the Conqueror (b. February 2, 1208, d. 27 July, 1276) was between 1213 - 1276 Lord of Montpellier. Count of Barcelona, King of Aragon, King of Majorca and King of Valencia. His long reign (63 years) saw the expansion of the Crown of Aragon on all fronts: into Languedoc (France) to the north, the Balearic Islands to the east and Valencia to the south. Originally, the concept of this new hispanic state straddling the Pyrenees, was to counterbalance the power of France north of the Loire. But, ultimately, by the Treaty of Corbeil in 1258, Jaime would withdraw from dispute with the French king Louis IX (Saint Louis), satisfied with recognition of his status, and the surrender of old, illusory French claims to suzerainty over Catalunya, which he integrated into his realm. In between times, Jaime turned to the south and to the Mediterranean, where he became absorbed in the “RECONQUISTA”, the Christian re-conquest of Moorish Spain. He conquered Majorca on 10 September 1229 and the rest of the Balearic Islands; Minorca 1232; Ibiza and Formentera 1235. His part in the Reconquista was similar in Mediterranean Spain to that of his contemporary Ferdinand III of Castile in Andalusia. The conquest of what would be the Kingdom of Valencia began in 1232, when Jaime took the citadel of Morella. Shortly after, in 1233, Burriana and Peñíscola were also taken from the Balansiya (Valencia in Arabic) taifa.

Finally in 1238, following the capitulation of the Saracen ruler Zayan, Jaime entered the city of Valencia on 9 October in a triumphal procession. This date is regarded today as the dawn of the Kingdom of Valencia and is celebrated in a grand Moors and Christians parade and spectacular fireworks etc. For the Valencian people, King Jaime is still their beloved founding father. This long enduring respect may in part be explained by the fact that Jaime didn’t annex the kingdom, but instead decided to give it autonomy. This was in order to keep the fragile balance of power amongst the Iberian monarchies. The Cortes (the representative assembly) was born and Valencia was granted its own code of laws - the “Furs de Valencia”, charters which became the founding stone of Valencian independence, granting it wide self government, initially from the Crown of Aragon and, later, from the unified Spanish Kingdom. Soon after the conquest, the city was re-built as a Christian city - physically and socially. The main mosque was replaced with the Cathedral, the streets were aligned and widened, and the population of Valencia quickly coerced behind the new religion and the guilds. Jaime warred against the Moors again in Murcia, on behalf of his son-in-law Alfonso X of Castile. On 26 March 1244, the two monarchs signed the Treaty of

Almizra to determine the zones of their expansion into Andalusia and to prevent mutual conflict. Specifically, it defined the borders of the newly-created Kingdom of Valencia. The boundaries and identity of the present Autonomous Community of Valencia are essentially based on those of this former Kingdom. In 1276, Jaime fell ill at Alzira and resigned his crown, intending to retire to the monastery of Poblet, but soon afterwards he died at Valencia on 27 July. Jaime occupies a high place among Spanish kings, both as a soldier, and as a legislator and organiser. He compiled the Libre del Consulat de Mar, which governed maritime trade and helped establish Aragonese supremacy in the western Mediterranean. He protected and encouraged men of letters, inspired the chronicle that bears his name, and brought his different peoples to a degree of political and cultural maturity that can reasonably be described as admirable. CHIROPRACTIC AND BACKACHES Backaches are a major cause of absenteeism in Spain and represent an enormous cost to social security, in terms of days off work, medical treatments and surgery.

LA QUIROPRACTICA Y LOS DOLORES DE ESPALDA

Chiropractic is a recognized science in all English-speaking countries and in northern Europe. Why is it legal and included in the main stream care in all these countries? Simply because the cost-effectiveness has been demonstrated in these countries for some time now!

Numerous studies, mostly in the USA, have established that for common low back pain, Chiropractic is much cheaper than more conventional treatments. Moreover, they also show that people return to work in less time after receiving chiropractic care! Chiropractic will correct the cause of the problem, which is usually the displacement of one or more vertebrae. This is also called subluxation. These spinal deviations will cause irritation in different tissues, whether disc, muscle, ligament or nerve. The chiropractor's work is to perform smooth and painless adjustments to the spine, to balance the spine, so it can function properly. Correcting the cause of the problem, the body will function better, and thus heal itself without drugs or surgery. Here are some comments from some of our patients: “…thanks to chiropractic care I avoided spinal surgery…” “…the pains have disappeared in only five sessions. I can climb the stairs and enjoy my grand children now…” The Chiropractic Center in Rocafort offers free spinal checks to see if chiropractic could be a solution to your health problems.

Lime Scale - Never again! ¡Adiós a la cal!

I

n previous months, I have talked about the problems we have had with limescale and the solution we found, namely the Hydroflow electronic water conditioner.

I

n September, I went to Nottingham in England to visit Hydropath, the company behind Hydroflow, to find out more. In a nutshell, Hydropath uses electronic pulses to prevent lime scale forming and to break it down, if it already exists. A field of positive electrons on the skin of the pipes throughout the water system prevents lime scale forming.

B

elow Dr Stefanini, the brains behind Hydropath, demonstrates, with an oscilloscope, how Hydropath works throughout a water system. The radio frequency waves travel forwards and backwards through the water. ydropath works 24-7, whether water is flowing or not. All other antilime scale products only function when the water is switched on and flowing ie some 4% of the time in a typical home.

H

E

T

hese before and after photos were taken from a factory, installed with a C Range Hydroflow.

H

ydropath also have a product for swimming pools – AquaCLEAR – that flocculates and eliminates algae and bacteria; and saves on chlorine and electricity, as you don’t need to run the pump so much.

I

was so impressed with all this that we have taken on the distribution of hydropath products in the Valencian Community. This will involve sub-distributors. So if you are interested in a second income or have limescale problems, please get in touch with: -

THE RED PALM WEEVIL (Part 4) EL PICUDO ROJO DE LAS PALMERAS We already talked in the August issue of the different insecticides authorized by the Valencian Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (“Conselleria de Agricultura” ) against the red palm weevil (rhynchophorus ferrugineus) palm tree disease. These insecticides are used often for agricultural premises and plant nurseries and also for parks and gardens, both public and private. We will focus this month on the last case, as this is the one which concerns us more. Out of the two insecticides authorized ,one is chemical and the other biological. Next we are going to describe the first one leaving the biological one for the November issue. The chemical insecticide (IMIDACLOPRID 20%) has insecticidal properties and works in a double way: systemic (enters inside the plant and circulates within it in a very smart way) and residual, because of contact and ingestion, This chemical is absorbed by the “foliate” part of the plant (leaves of plants) and also by the “radicular” part (roots of plants), although this is not totally proven and the experts in palm trees have different opinions on the topic. The pattern of action of this insecticide is the activation and subsequent blockade of the insects’ nerve impulses, killing them in this way . In addition to acting against the red palm tree weevil, also controls several other plagues on different >>>>

>>Tiene propiedades insecticidas por vía sistémica (penetra dentro de la planta y circula por la sabia) y residual; con actividad por contacto e ingestión, es absorbido tanto por vía foliar (hojas de las plantas) como por vía radicular (raíces de las plantas), aunque esto ultimo no esta probado del todo en palmeras y existen diferentes opiniones sobre el tema.

It’s scope of action spread to aphids, white fly, interfacial mosquito, minelayer of citrus fruits, drill of the corn, minelayer of the pear tree, Colorado beetle, wire maggot, psylla of the apple tree, psylla of the pear tree and woodlice.

As we have already remarked previously, in the next issue we will talk in more detail about the biological insecticide, how they act and which advantages they have, because they are harmless to humans, pets and plants.

Goodbye and take good care of yourselves and your plants until next monrh. JUANMA MARTINEZ

Five Men. Two Marbellas. To Marbella. To the Arctic. For the charity DebRA home of DebRA Spain. From Marbella, they will drive until they run out of Europe, at the Arctic Circle in Norway. They left Southampton on Friday 18th September 2009, bound for Portsmouth. Brittany Ferries kindly agreed to pay for their crossing to St Malo in France. They arrived in France on the morning of the 19th and drove directly to Marbella, arriving there in the early hours of Sunday 20th September. Later that afternoon, the Town Hall of Marbella agreed to close off part of the motor way under the famous Marbella Bridge for them to use as a starting point. A Charity drive for the Epidermolysis Bullosa charity DebRA. In 2007, Brida Heartford, niece of Ross Holland, was born with the most severe type of EB, she died in March 2008 aged 14 months. On Monday September 21st 2009 at 12.00 noon, Ross and five friends set off to drive from Marbella, Spain to the Arctic Circle in six days in their classic SEAT “Marbella” Cars, with the aim to raise for the charity DebRA, a pound for every one of the 6,703 miles of the journey! As DebRA had been such a great source of support and advice for his family during Brida's very short life, Ross and five friends, John Allen, Jon Short, Emilio Tesi, Shaun Dodimead and Jim Wright decided to undertake a charity drive across Europe in a small, cheap, economical car decorated with the DebRA logos. The aim: to raise funds for DebRA, and also to raise awareness of EB across the whole continent. Having bought two SEAT Marbella cars, they decided to drive from their home cities of Southampton and Nottingham to Marbella, which is the spiritual home of the SEAT Marbella, and conveniently, the

They then drove to Alicante, leaving there on the morning of the 21st bound for Monaco. They interrupted their drive briefly to meet up with BRITCHAT under the A7/E15 motor way bridge near Torrent, Valencia. After a short interview, we took some photos, wished them all the best and waved them on their way. We expect that they will update their website on reaching their destination - THE ARCTIC CIRCLE! On the 22nd, they aimed to drive from Monaco, through Italy and Switzerland, into Germany. On the 22nd / 23rd, to arrive at the town of Biedenkopf, home of DebRA Germany, where they have a civic reception arranged with the Lord Mayor! From Biedenkopf, their next days travel through Denmark and Sweden to the vicinity of Stockholm. Sole Trader, Partnership Or Limited Company?

It should include the articles of association, determining how management is organized and identity of the manager or managers.

The entry into force in 1995 of the law of limited liability companies has allowed the formation of corporations, sole proprietorships and the possibility that opens up to the current self-employed or those who need to have a legal personality (as a society act) without having to rely on a partner.

The statutes should include, at least, the name of the company, the corporate purpose, determining the activities that comprise it, the closing date of the financial year, address, social capital, participation in the division, nominal value and sequential numbering and how to organize society.

The constitution of a society depends, first, on the responsibilities you are willing to take and the kind of taxation that is appropriate for the benefits, because the autonomous commits his entire estate, business and personal, but in a Limited Company the responsibility is limited to the capital. Moreover, the autonomous person (Self employed soles trader) is taxed with a banded income tax, while a company pays corporation tax, with a single rate of 30%.

Partnerships: There is an intermediate state between self employment and a limited (SL) company, which is chosen by some high-income professionals, but experts generally advise against this except in cases where the partners are close relatives (used in communities and neighbours for example).

Taxation is often one of the first reasons that leads to creating a corporation in order to pay less. If we assume the case to pursue activities as self or as a sole proprietorship, and where family circumstances, assets and profits. the autonomous and the owner of the sole proprietorship are the same, you pay to the Treasury theoretically the same, except that the tax base is high. When the tax base is low, it is preferable to act as autonomous because you are taxed as an individual, therefore conforming to a range of sections, ranging from 0% to 43%. The tax is progressive, the more you earn, the highest percentage terms you pay, If you earn a lot, it is preferable to set up a company and pay 30% of the benefit, as being self employed you could pay over 40% As for deductions, payments are made as a self employed person and not a company. Among the non-tax considerations, the labor and management bear the most influence in the decision to start a business, but both the autonomous individual as the employer must qualify occupationally autonomous regime of Social Security as a freelancer and may need another worker, so the administration of its activity may be as or more complicated than a sole proprietorship. The process of setting up a company can cost between 700 and 900 €, plus the fees of the professionals involved: managers, lawyers, etc.., Either to make all relevant arrangements or for writing deeds and/or statutes. The time required for the incorporation is 10 to 15 days and the registration procedures come later. To set up as sole trader, you are only required to be of age and have free disposal of assets. The minimum share capital of a limited liability company is €3006, with no maximum, and must be fully paid at source. The bank, where the deposit of money was made, must certify that amount is in the bank, after which you can use it for equipment purchases, for example, once the company is legallyset up. The minimum number of members is one and there is currently no maximum limit, but as it is intended that these companies do not have access to the stock market, in practice it limits the maximum number of partners. The shares are restricted transmission, except in the case of relatives or companies in the same group as the transferor. The articles of incorporation of a company must be signed by all the founders and also the identity of the partner or partners must express the will to establish a limited liability, contributions each partner made and the numbers of shares.

BRITCHAT . 22

It’s called “The community of property” (Partnership) and is a civil society, only valid for tax purposes, but allows you to conduct business, sign contracts, billing, etc.. The creation of a community means less cost than setting up a limited company. Its creation is done through the presentation of a Treasury contract signed by the partners (community). The contract must list the identity of those in the community, what they will spend and clauses that commoners may consider relevant. That is, they can be set from the role of each partner within the partnership to the causes of dissolution or division of property, for example. In practice, the wording of this contract meets the characteristics of a society. For tax purposes, the declaration of each member is assigned to it in income and profits, which are shared among members of the partnership. Steps to Create a Limited Company Negative certification of the name: The Central Business Register must certify that the name chosen by the company does not match an existing one. Request must be submitted with the names chosen, with a maximum of three. Validity period of two months. Drafting the memorandum and articles of association: Normally, an attorney drafts the document in which the parties agree to establish a society and establishing rules for its operation. Grant a public deed of incorporation: The partners signed before a notary deed of society, which must accompany negative certification of the name and statutes. Paying taxes: On the Property Transfer and Stamp represents 1% of the capital. Payment must be made within 30 working days from the issuance of writing, and must be accompanied by a copy thereof, together with the form of tax. Once you have paid the levy, you request the PageRank, and the declaration of commencement of activities, which may be a prior declaration if the activity does not start immediately Social Security: Before starting the activity, the company must enroll in Social Security. In the case of sole proprietor, he must also register in the Autonomous System of Social Security. If the company has employees, you must give them an offer letter before the start of employment with up to 30 days to communicate the activity of opening the workplace. Registration: In the commercial register for the head office. Must accompany the first copy of the deeds and the elimination of capital transfer tax, within one month from the deed. Note: Depending on the activity to develop, it may also be necessary to apply for a business license or a license facilities in the City for work.

COMPETITION CHAT

We had TWO competition results this month! And, the winner is ...... We had our new sales consultant for Valencia, Cristina Garay draw the names out of the two bags for: 1. The Don Quixote Competition 2. The Valencia CF Competition for the Europa match, 1st October.

And here are the luck winners:Don Quixote: Cindy Sanchez who will enjoy the wine! He was on the front page under the bridge! Valencia Game: Denis Scanlan who later wrote in: Hi Chris, thanks for the tickets. Went to the football last night, a good game, good result and a thoroughly enjoyable evening. thanks again. Den. The prize presentation at Cheers Bar in Montserrat (See advert on Page 7!)

Now the promised information on Don Quixote!

A Quixotic Tale whose name you shouldn’t want to forget. Author Miguel de Cervantes Fully titled “The Ingenious Hidalgo Don Quixote of La Mancha” (Spanish: El ingenioso hidalgo don Quixote de la Mancha) is an episodic novel by Miguel de Cervantes and originally published in two volumes (1605 and sequel 1615). Don Quixote is the most influential work of literature to emerge from the Spanish Golden Age and the entire Spanish literary canon. As a founding work of modern Western literature, it regularly appears high on lists of the greatest works of fiction ever published. Although farcical on the surface, the novel is serious and philosophical about the theme of deception. Don Quixote’s imaginings are the butt of outrageous and cruel practical jokes throughout. The contrasts between the tall, thin, fancystruck, and idealistic Quixote and his fat, squat and dull-witted, but ever faithful side kick Sancho Panza, is a motif echoed down through the ages, ever since the book’s publication. It is considered a satire of orthodoxy, truth, veracity, and even nationalism. In going beyond mere storytelling by exploring the individualism of his characters, Cervantes broke out of the narrow literary conventions of the chivalric romance literature that he spoofed, which consisted of straightforward retelling of a series of acts that redound to the knightly virtues of the hero. >>>

SPORT CHAT >>> The world of ordinary people, from shepherds to tavern-owners and inn-keepers was also ground breaking, while the character of Don Quixote became so famous in its time, that the word quixotic was quickly coined in many languages. The opening sentence created a classic Spanish cliché with the phrase “…de cuyo nombre no quiero acordarme, “whose name I do not want to remember.”

“In a place at La Mancha, whose name I do not want to remember, not very long ago lived a country hidalgo, one of those gentlemen or hidalgos who keep a lance in the lance-rack, an ancient shield, a skinny old horse, and a fast greyhound.” Don Quixote is considered THE first modern novel and it’s widespread influence helped cement the modern Spanish language. Results for the Stableford competition held at El Bosque Golf Club on Monday 14th September 2009 This month’s winner was Dudley Miller (H/Cap 16) who scored 35 points while Chris Ward (H/Cap 28) was Runner-up with 34 points. OTOGP ROUND 12 – INDIANAPOLIS, USA

T

his season has certainly had it’s ups and downs. Valentino Rossi entered this round with a 50 point advantage over team mate Jorge Lorenzo, after the Spaniard crashed out at the last round in Brno.

H

owever, you can never take anything for granted in MotoGP. It was Danny Pedrosa who made the early running, having taken pole, he took an early lead, until a crash saw him out of the running. This left Rossi and Lorenzo to duel it out again. This time it was Rossi who made an unforced error, crashing and leaving Jorge to victory. Second place went to Alex de Angelis, contract time bringing the best out of the San Marinise rider. Nicky Haden stood on the podium for the first time on his Ducati in 3rd place.

E

You can lead a horse to water, but you can’t make it drink. Meaning: An animal, and by implication a person, will only do what it/he wants to do. Origin: This is one of the older proverbs in the language and dates back to at least 1546 when it was included in John Heywood’s A dialogue conteinyng the nomber in effect of all the prouerbes in the Englishe tongue: “A man maie well bring a horse to the water, But he can not make him drinke without he will.” BRITCHAT . 28
