Monday 29 October, 6pm Seminar Room

Heinrich Neuhaus & Subjectivity Guildhall lecturer Maria Razumovskaya presents an exploration of Heinrich Neuhaus’s distinct vision of a performer’s subjectivity and reveals his importance in championing a powerful interdisciplinary practice adopted in Soviet Russia by creative artists who were determined to escape the banality and limitations imposed by Socialist Realism. Monday 5 November, 6pm Studio Theatre

Sonic Stories from East Suffolk Guildhall professor Nell Catchpole invites the audience to a collective listening experience that explores knowledge and enquiry through different forms of sound communication. Research and the Performing Arts: Guildhall School Doctoral Discussion

What stops people making music? This talk by Dr Alexandra Lamont (Keele University) introduces new data from children and adults relating to the perceived barriers to participation. She attempts to tease out the complex issues around why people might not want to engage in an activity which can be of substantial intrinsic and extrinsic benefit.

A selection of Guildhall School doctoral candidates present their work and discuss current topics in artistic research. This event will be followed by an informal drinks reception to encourage further discussion (7pm – 8pm).

Unless otherwise stated, Research Works events are free to attend but booking is required. Please visit researchatguildhall.eventbrite.co.uk to book.
