HALLOWEEN SHOPS Nina's feeding your halloween fix!
Flying Tiger: Situated on Sauchiehall Street and Buchanan Galleries, Flying Tiger is the BEST place to go for decorations, no matter the occasion! This year the
£3 halloween garlands, £7 skeleton fairy lights, £2 bat balloons, and many collection boasts
more affordable treats! Flying Tiger is also a great place to go to buy last minute costume pieces!
Poundland: One in Partick, and one on Sauchiehall St, Poundland is a must for spooky decor! You are unlikely to find anything in this wonderful shop for more than
£5, which makes it super budget
friendly!
H&M:
Arty Party: A Glasgow Halloween hot spot, this party place is perfect for everything you will need to complete your costume! Selling all sorts from spooky contact lenses to gory wounds, you’re sure to scare your friends after a visit! Find them at 73 St George’s Road, right by the M8 at the end of Woodlands Road!
Roots and Fruits: This wouldn’t be much of a Halloween article if I didn’t point you towards the best place to buy your pumpkin! Roots and Fruits is a West End staple grocer and florists, with one next to Paesano on GWR, and one right by Kelvingrove Park on Argyle Street! Roots and Fruits is the best place to buy your fruit and vegetables and thus, is the best place to get your
Glasgow is home to one of the biggest H&Ms I’ve ever seen, and one I regularly frequent for last minute costumes! While I am not a supporter of fast fashion brands, going into H&M is arguably a much better choice than ordering from Amazon, and therefore as a last resort I would recommend it! They always have lots of cute halloween accessories, and are guaranteed to have something spooky in their home section!
Tam Shepherds Trick Shop: A local favourite, Tam Shepherds Trick Shop is a hidden gem with everything you would EVER need to set up Halloween indoors! You’ll find Tams at 33 Queen Street, very near the Argyle Street Primark!

Nina's Guide to DIY Halloween decorations to frighten up your flat!
It wouldn’t be a Halloween in Quarantine if I didn’t help you all make use of those toilet rolls you have hanging around from all your panic buying. Soooo, here’s a handy guide on how to make
What you will need:
toilet paper roll bats!
Step 1: Black paint The cardboard inside bit of the toilet roll (anyone know the proper name for this?) Googley eyes Black Card Scissors Pencil Paintbrush Glue
Step 3:
Method: 1. Paint your cardboard tube with black paint, then set aside to dry, this will be the bat’s body. 2. While your “body” is drying, cut out two wing shapes from your black paper, in any sort of design you like! 3. When the body is dry, some folding is required! First, flatten the body completely. Then, stand the body back up, and fold down the top on one side, making sure to crease the fold. 4. Fold the other side down and do the same again. 5. Repeat these two folds at the other end of the tube. Using glue, add the wings to the back of your body, and the googly eyes to the front. 6. Then - you have a fun toilet roll bat! You could get some string and tie multiple bats together to make a garland, or just dot them around to add a spooky vibe!

The Catacombs, France:
chiming wails.
La Noria, Chile: Composed of artfully arranged skulls and bones, the catacombs in Paris remain one of the scariest places still open to the public. Surrounded by the claustrophobia of being buried underground, these tunnels are scary enough even without being the home to an estimated six million bodies. Parts of the labyrinth remain unexplored, and movies like As Above, So Below remind us just how terrifying the implications of this are.
Lawang Sewu, Indonesia: This former railway building has a dark past as a World War II prison and a reputation as the most haunted place in Indonesia. Numerous ghosts are rumoured to haunt the building, with some of the scariest including headless spirits, the “Dutch Woman and a kuntilanak (a female vampiric ghost from Malay and Indonesian mythology).
Located in the heart of the Atacama Desert (the driest place on earth), the ruins of La Noria show the crumbled history of an old, abandoned mining town. Following a spree of looting, many coffins lie exposed, showing the remains of those buried within. After sundown, the restless spirits of the disturbed graves are told to rise and walk the streets of La Noria once more.

Fuad gives us the lowdown on the costumes that sum up this year
Have you still not decided on a Halloween costume this year? Is inspiration just not coming? Well, you're in luck because I've compiled what I think are the best costumes that embody 2020 energy.
All these ideas were sourced from a totally official Instagram survey. For the general 2020 vibe, the most common answers I got were quite chaotic.
Ignoring the countless answers that suggested dressing up as a virus, I think the standout in this category has to be
a plague doctor.
If you wanted to add a little creative spin onto it, I would suggest throwing an apron on also. Suitable as we all too many friends that started baking bread this year. An honourable mention in this category would be a trash bag on fire.
For this next category, I'm sure you're excited for this one, we have the sexy costume ideas. My favourite suggestion for this one would be
a surgical mask mankini.
I will choose not to picture this costume too much, but it is definitely a good idea. The honourable mention for this category is definitely sexy toilet paper. I... No further comment needed for this one.
And now, the last category. The theme closest to my
meme costumes. I simply cannot choose the best one, so I'll give you my top three. There's the "SIMP", which consists of vans, loose jeans heart, the
and a vintage jumper. Or if you're more of a gamer, then I recommend dressing up as either
a spooky or sexy crewmate from Among Us, the game that has
captured our hearts. And finally, if you really want to embody that lockdown energy, then I recommend to you
a cardboard cutout of yourself in a zoom
meeting. So, go on and show off your inventiveness to your friends, readers. Take my suggestions absolutely seriously and I promise that you'll be the best dressed this year.

GORY GORY GAMES GAMES Ewan tells all on the best games to play this Halloween! Hand Sanitiser Fear Pong Grab your nearest and dearest, a pack of red solo cups, and your largest bottle of hand sanitiser for a reimagining of the classic game for the era of socialdistancing. Fill each cup with hand sanitiser and pick your teams to ensure a competitive and clean cup experience free of the risk of any germs on the ball. For the more adventurous, take the time to write dares, personal questions, or a challenge of your choosing on the bottom of each cup. Rather than drinking the hand sanitiser - successfully throwing the ping pong ball in the cup forces a member of the opposite to follow the instructions.
Toilet Paper Mummy Another flashback to the parties from the past. Nominate two models and two dressers from among your bubble to compete. The challenge: to create the best mummy costume using toilet paper. Each team has two minutes to create their outfit, with the best wrapped and most stylish mummy taking home the grand prize. Or y’all could remember that toilet paper was the first to go last lockdown and wasting it during Halloween might not be the best idea. Whatever way, make sure to use it wisely.

Bobbing For Apples Basin of water plus the crunchiest apples that you can find in the supermarket. Rules are simple = apples must be extracted from the basin using only the participants mouth. Hand usage results in a hefty forfeit for the bobber. For best result be sure to wear full PPE and masks must be kept on throughout the challenge. For a messier variation swap out the water for a bowl of flour and the apples for Jelly Babies. An ideal game for Halloween 2020.
