THURSDAY – Meet the tour leader at the Malta Intl. Airport at 2 a.m. for check-in for our Airmalta flight departing at 4.05 a.m. We should arrive in Istanbul at 8.55 a.m. (after a brief stopover). With its blend of East and West cultures and influences, Istanbul boasts of some of the most magnificent architecture in the world such as Agia Sofia, the Blue Mosque and the Topkapi Palace with its treasures of the Ottoman Empire. Istanbul is one of the oldest cities in the world, situated on the shores of the Bosphorus. This strait divides the two continents of Europe and Asia, as well as joining the Black Sea and the Marmara Sea. This historical city was once the capital of the Roman, Byzantine, and the Ottoman Empires. As our rooms shall be available in the afternoon, we offer you the opportunity to join the tour leader on an optional Istanbul half day excursion visiting the one thousand five hundred year old former Cathedral of Saint Sophia (entr. extra). There can be few places with such an overwhelming sense of history. This is the centre of what was Byzantine Constantinople, an extraordinary building, whose history is the very mirror of Byzantium itself! We shall then visit the famous Blue Mosque, which dominates the skyline of Istanbul with its six tall minarets. We then shall visit the Hippodrome, the main square of the city and which was the centre of Byzantium’s life for 1000 years and of Ottoman life for another 400 years. We shall return to our hotel for room allocation. Before overnight join the tour leader for a familiarization walk. Eating out should be no problem with many various restaurants nearby offering a huge choice of different types of food. FRIDAY – After breakfast we suggest you join our optional excursion as we explore the Boshorus. We first shall visit the Spice Bazaar and afterwards we shall board a boat (incl.) and sail up the Boshorus, one of the most historic waterways of the world. This extraordinary winding strait links the Black Sea with the Mediterranean Sea and is 32 kms long and a width that varies between 500 metres and 3 kms. Appreciate the scenes of this wonderful city from a different perspective before we visit Dolmabahce Palace, an impressive and beautiful building with a 600 metre long white marble façade overlooking the Bosphorus (entr. extra). This palace became the residence of the sultans on its completion in 1853, replacing the Topkapi Palace. (Free lunch incl). We later drive over the Bosphorus Bridge, having the opportunity to step from one continent (Asia) to another (Europe). We shall also enjoy a wonderful panoramic view of Istanbul and the Bosphorus from Camlica Hill. We return to our hotel in the late afternoon and the rest of the evening is free for a leisurely walk or join the tour leader and visit a good restaurant so as to experience local cuisine. SATURDAY – After breakfast join our tour leader for an optional excursion and visit the famous Topkapi Palace. This former imperial residence (entr. extra) is from where the Great Ottoman Empire was ruled for three centuries. Today it houses a spectacular museum including the Treasury section, an exhibition of the precious personal belongings of members of the Ottoman dynasty. We shall then visit the Mosque of Suleyman the Magnificent, considered to be the best example of Ottoman classicism in Istanbul. Afterwards we shall stop for some time at the Grand Bazaar, which has been a shopper’s Mecca since just after the mid-15th century, when the smallish warehouse

Tours 2010

was turned into a teeming bazaar by a constant stream of traders, selling everything from carpets to spices. These days it’s the most fantastic, monstrous, labyrinthine and totally manic shopping bazaar you could hope to experience! Our coach shall then drop us off near Taksim Square for some free time before we return to our hotel in the late afternoon followed by overnight. SUNDAY – Today, after breakfast, you may wish to either relax at the hotel or enjoy this vibrant city as the day is left free for personal shopping or sightseeing. In the evening we offer you the chance to enjoy a ‘Turkish Night’ dinner & folklore show including entertainment & limited local drinks. MONDAY – After breakfast we offer you our optional day excursion when we visit Bursa. Despite its smaller size, many of Bursa’s Ottoman landmarks rival those of Istanbul. Best of all, this lush city, known as “Green Bursa”, rests at the base of Mt. Uludag, a forested peak once thought to be the mythical Mt. Olympus. Travel by ferry (incl) to Yalova, then, by coach, drive to Bursa, where we visit the early 15th century Green Mosque and the imperial Great Mosque, with its 20 domes and 12 massive pillars. Afterwards we shall also visit the Bazaar and Koza Hani - the silk market. We shall take a cable-car ride (extra – weather permitting) up Mount Uludag, which rises 8300 feet over the city of Bursa. We shall return to our hotel in the evening. TUESDAY – Today we offer another interesting day excursion, this time to Princess Islands. We shall return back to our hotel in the late afternoon. WEDNESDAY – This morning you may join our morning excursion as shall then drive through the area known as the Golden Horn. The afternoon has been left free to further explore the city on your own or else to continue searching for shopping bargains. You may also wish to spend some time and relax at one of the popular Turkish Baths. THURSDAY – Early morning departure from our hotel and transfer to the airport in time to checkin our Airmalta flight back to Malta. Flight departs at 9.50 a.m. and we should land in Malta at 11.15 a.m. (Group 2 arrives at 1 p.m.) N.B. - We are not offering the half board supplement as the hotel is located in the heart of the city. world, a silent and timeless place where you will be dwarfed to insignificance. ‘Vast, echoing and Godlike’. This is the place where Lawrence of Arabia conducted many of his campaigns during the first WWI. The uniquely shaped massive mountains rise out of the rose-red desert sand. While at Wadi Rum we take four wheel drive vehicles out into the desert where the sand is red and the rocks look like gigantic multi-layered chocolate cakes melting in the setting sun. Drive to Petra for Dinner and overnight. Thursday - 16th September - (PETRA) After Breakfast, no visit to Jordan is complete without having seen the capital of the ancient Nabatean kingdom, Petra. The long-lost city of Petra, carved entirely by man into the rose-red sandstone rocks, puts your imagination to the test. Its mystic and glorious place, an eternal tribute to a lost civilization. Petra was the central meeting point of the Nabatean spice routes which originated from the Persian Gulf, Western Arabia and the Red Sea. No wonder UNESCO placed Petra on its World Heritage List one enters Petra by passing the Siq, a deep and narrow gorge, at the end of which all of a sudden dramatically appears the most famous monument in Petra: al-Khazneh or the Treasury. Maybe you will recognize it as the stage of the final sequence of the movie ‘Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade’. But the Treasury is just the start. Walking and climbing in Petra hundreds of buildings carved in stone and eroded through the centuries into fabulous multi-colored walls will be revealed to you. Dinner and overnight Friday - 17th September (PETRA - DEAD SEA - AMMAN) After breakfast drive to Dead Sea beach, this lies on the western frontier of Jordan. It is well-known to be the lowest spot on earth, 400 meters below sea level. King David, King Herod, Jesus, and John the Baptist were closely linked with the Dead Sea and its surroundings. During the Egyptian conquest it is said that Queen Cleopatra obtained exclusive rights to build cosmetic and pharmaceutical factories in the area. Drive to Amman for dinner and overnight Saturday - 18th September (AMMAN – JERUSALEM - AMMAN) This morning we drive to Sheikh Hussein border to visit Jerusalem. We start with a panoramic view from The Mount of Olives – a good place for an introduction to the city and its history. Then we drive down to the Old City: We start with the Wailing Wall, which represents the last remnants of the Jewish Temple, destroyed by the Romans. Usually you can see the various types of Jews who come to worship at this holy place. Then we continue through the Muslim Quarter and the Arab Market (“Suq”) to the “Via Dolorosa”, Jesus’ “Way of Suffering”, which leads us to The Church of the Holy Sepulcher, where according to the Christian tradition Jesus was crucified and buried. Thereafter walk to the dormition abbey and the traditional site of the Tomb of King David (Upper Room). Then we go through the Jewish quarter to the Wailing Wall, which is the holiest place for the Jewish religion. Finally, head back to Sheikh Hussein Bridge to cross to Jordan. Meet and assist upon arrival then drive to Amman for overnight. Sunday - 19th September (AMMAN – MALTA) Say a reluctant goodbye to Jordan as you we transfer you to Amman airport for your return flight to Malta on Egyptair flight departing to Cairo at 11.30 hrs. We make a last stop in San Blas artisan quarter. The top of the statue of Corcovado (800M - 2,400ft), is an imposing monument with its 40M height and 1,100 tons, and allows spectacular 360 degrees views of the scenery below, encompassing city, bay, mountain and sea within a circle of up to 160kms. 16th September: Rio-Foz do Iguazu After breakfast transfer to airport for boarding flight to Iguazu. Upon arrival in Iguazu, you are transferred to your hotel for a 2 night stay. After room check-in we shall visit the Brazilian falls of Foz do Iguacu. The falls are unequally divided between Brazil and Argentina. To see them properly, you must visit both sides. In Brazil you get the grand overview and in Argentina you get a closer look. The 275 falls are over 3 kilometers (2 miles) wide and 80 meters (260 feet) high, which makes

them wider than Victoria, higher than Niagra, and more beautiful than either. Neither words nor photographs do the falls justice - they must be seen and heard in person. The view at the precipice is hypnotizing. You will be treated to a multi-sensory experience: roaring falls, high rainbow arcs, drenching mist, and, in the distance, parrots and hawks cruising over a deep green jungle. 17th September: Iguazu Breakfast, then visit to the Argentinean side. After passing through the visitor’s center, inside the National Park, along a paved road we reach the magnificent Iguassu Falls. There starts the walking tour along the catwalk measuring one kilometer of easy walking. Along this easy trek, there are several gorgeous panoramic views of the Falls and at the end of the catwalk a fantastic close-up encounter with the Devils’ Throat and main cataracts. The tour ends at the upper part of Iguassu Falls accessed through a panoramic elevator; from there, the visitors will follow a track to as far as the Espaco Porto Canoas (The Port Canoas Space), where you will find a pleasurable lookout point with a view to the upper Iguassu River. During this visit, the Falls will be seen from up close allowing for the detailed appreciation of both flora and fauna as well the Falls who are literally at the reach of one’s hands. Holidays in the programme have been planned and are operated by Mondial (owned and operated by Allied Travel Service Ltd) and by SMS Travel (owned and operated by S. Mifsud & Sons Ltd) hereby jointly referred to as “the Company” and / or “the Tour Operator”. To ensure maximum client satisfaction, we want you to enjoy your holiday to the full and return both satisfied and relaxed, and above all, convinced that you have been given good value for money. The General Conditions have been laid out to ensure that the deal between the Tour Operator and the client is clear and fair to both parties. These conditions cover virtually every aspect of your holiday from the moment you book to the moment you arrive back home. As we want everyone to know where they stand with us, the General Conditions clearly spell out our obligations to you and your commitments to us when you book a holiday with us from our brochure. OUR COMMITMENT TO YOU 1. Your Reservation Once you have completed and signed the booking form and paid your deposit, (which is of €150 per person on regular tours and €700 per cabin on Cruises and on the Oberammergau Passion Play tour) and have been issued a receipt by your travel agent, the booking is taken as confirmed and it is understood that you have read and accepted the accompanying terms and conditions. We will reserve your holiday. Your booking is also taken to be confirmed in respect of all persons travelling in your party. 2. Our Price Policy Prices in this brochure are valid at the time of publication. It is possible that at the time of booking, the actual price of your chosen holiday may have increased from that shown in the brochure which we reserve the right to do. We guarantee that the price of your holiday will not be subject to any surcharge whatsoever. Once you have made your booking and paid a deposit, then the cost of your holiday cannot be increased, except in the case of substantial currency fluctuations and/ or increase of taxes or levies and/or aircraft fuel increases imposed by airlines. A service charge of 3% of the cost of the holiday is being levied. The amount is included at the end of each programme together with the taxes. Prices for children are applicable for children under 12 years of age that are sharing with 2 adults. 3. Our Assurance on Standards and Assumption of Liability Our brochure descriptions are based on the information obtained from hoteliers and other service producers themselves. Hotel rooms and ship cabins are always small, (sometimes very small). The Tour Operator only work with hotels & vessels having single or twin/double bedded rooms. A room/cabin for 2 passengers may either consist of two separate beds or a matrimonial bed (which can also mean two beds pushed together irrespective of gender). Triple or quadruple bedded rooms are never available. A third or a fourth person wanting to share a twin/double bedded room, will most probably be given either a small extra folding ‘camp’ bed, a bunk bed, or a sofa bed, which will make accommodation quite uncomfortable. In America three or four persons wanting to share a room will always be given just two matrimonial beds, (separate beds for each person are not available). When two persons book a room for two, the Tour Operator reserves the right to either provide two separate beds or a large matrimonial bed. All hotels provided are not air-conditioned and no fans will be provided, not even during extreme heat waves, (unless clearly specified in the programme). Breakfast is only provided when specified, and when provided is always continental unless specified. Lunches and dinners are always served on three courses. No choice of food will be provided, neither changes can be accepted (e.g. having meat instead of fish). Portions served are always small/moderate in size. When buffet meals are provided a choice is available. Drinks, including water, during meals are always to be paid extra. Use of minibar, telephone and T.V. in rooms is also chargeable to the client. Unless clearly specified all entrance fees to museums and shows, boat trips, metro or cable car are always extra. All optional excursions are extra and unless clearly specified they only include transportation costs by coach, entrances are extra and no local guides are provided. An optional excursion will only be operated if the minimum number of paying participants reaches 25 adults; if not the Tour Operator will have the right not to operate the said excursion and will be under no obligation to compensate the Client/s for not operating the said optional excursion; furthermore the Client/s cannot cancel their planned group tour or cruise because one or more excursions could not be operated due to either lack of bookings or for some other technical reason which is beyond the Tour Operator’s control. Prices are clearly marked in the ‘price box’, at the end of each programme. Only items listed under ‘Price includes’ are included in the package price. Please remember that brochures are produced months in advance and there may be occasions when an advertised facility or entertainment is not available during your particular holiday, especially if it is out of high season. Bad weather, essential maintenance or cleaning, lack of support or demand may all effect the actual availability of particular activities or facilities; So, for instance, can such things as local licensing laws, religious or local holidays, or local authority or governmental restrictions. Similarly, touring itineraries may have to be changed sometimes at short notice, due to weather, road or traffic conditions, mechanical breakdowns, police activity etc. Coaches are not air-conditioned (except when clearly specified on a programme) and do not have onboard functional toilet facilities. Swimming pools may only be heated in colder weather and the general standard of hygiene, public utilities, drainage, plumbing and services in general may not be the same standards as in Malta. Each group tour is escorted by either a Maltese or an English speaking tour leader who will be responsible for the implementation of the programme according to the brochure. The tour leader is under no circumstance responsible to carry out work (unless for emergency), over and above the official programme and is not obliged to accompany members of the group around shops, flea markets or theme parks. Cruise companies reserve the right to change the itinerary due to bad weather or industrial action, in which case neither the cruise company nor the Tour Operator are liable to pay any form of compensation for the missed ports or the change of programme. If any portion of holiday is cost due to natural disasters, bad weather, industrial action, war, government restrictions or any matter of force majeur, neither Mondial/SMS nor its subcontractors can be held liable to pay compensation or for damages incurred. As a responsible Company we feel it only right to point out these possibilities, however unlikely. If you have a particular problem, please inform the hotel reception desk
