Fourth Black Tie & Posh Frocks Ball! Adrian Stohr, husband and father of three, hit the headlines over his dramatic weight loss and has continued to dedicate his time to the charity who gave him a second chance in life and to do something good for those who need it most by arranging his 4th Black Tie & Posh Frocks Charity Ball. The charity Children with Cancer UK was set up by the O’Gorman family when two young members succumbed to this tragic disease and was visited and then later inaugurated by Lady Diana Princess of Wales on the 12th January 1988 at the Mill Hill Secondary School. She continued to support and remain a source of inspiration to the charity until her death in 1997. The charity has just continued to grow and has now raised over ÂŁ220 million towards the research and funding of childhood cancer. Adrians passion and the need to do something great just does not come close to the sheer bravery of these little children and young babies who face the biggest fight of all. Adrian has left no stone unturned with the organisation his fourth Black Tie and Posh Frocks Charity Ball and this year he says not only is it going to be the biggest ever but he has a surprise in store! Coming along to perform this year is Dave Finnegan from the film ‘The Commitments’. Twenty Six years on, neither time, age, nor music has managed to tame one of the soul survivors of that iconic film. No one could ever have predicted the huge success of Alan Parker’s black comedy which helped to launch the rebirth of true soul rhythm ‘n’ blues. Everyone can remember the charismatic character portrayed by Andrew Strong, however for 10 years since the film, Dave Finnegan successfully fronted the touring band ‘The Stars From The Commitments’ and has received accolades from around the globe, performing in countries like Brazil, USA, Canada, all over Europe, South Africa, Scandinavia, the Middle East, India, Japan, Malaysia, Australia, and New Zealand performing to in excess of a million people. ...Continued on page 3

Following the successful 1940’s summer dance, “Swing Machineâ€? the big band from Ipswich returned to the Delphi Centre on Saturday 30th December to play at the Sparkle Charity Dance. The Delphi Centre ballroom looked fabulous with its new vertical blinds and all tables decorated with Art Deco centre pieces and helium balloons in black and gold. Swing Machine played music stretching from the late 1920’s through to the 1950’s. The band led by Bob Airzee comprising of 17 musicians including female and male vocalist proved a big hit with the music of Glenn Miller, Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald all perfect for this fabulous evening of dance. There was a glass of bubbly on arrival and many of those present dressed in the fashion of the Art Deco period. When the band took a break Steve Claydon of Mayfair Music took over to play 1950’s popular songs of the decade and later from the 1960’s we had the twist and locomotion. The dance was organised by “Dance with Us Suffolkâ€? run by Philip and Jacqui Goodyer from Leavenheath in association with the Delphi Tea Dance organised by Cheryl and Steve Claydon. A special thank you to the Sudbury Tourist Office for their help to sell the tickets which again were sold out. “Upbeatâ€? the charity for patients who have had major heart surgery based in Long Melford and Bury St Edmunds will benefit from ÂŁ400 raised at the dance. Local businesses that supported the event were The Bull, Long Melford; The Long Melford Tea Room, Bygones of Long Melford, Wyvale Garden Centre Sudbury and Celebrities Nail Care Sudbury a very big thank you to all of them. The Delphi Centre now run by a Not For Profit group whose chairman is Ray Ward and the user group have organised many events to raise funds for refurbishment of the ballroom internally with the aim to ensure this fabulous facility remains open for as long as possible for the community of Sudbury and surrounding villages and towns. There are some fabulous events planned for 2018, the return of Backlash Ballroom who came to The Quay in 2017 will be putting on an Explosion of ballroom and Latin dance with DJ Richard Miller on April 14th. Also two tribute events are scheduled, a Kylie Minogue in February and Genesis in March. Then on June 23rd a great fun Barn Dance with Pluck ‘n’ Squeeze, so plenty of wonderful events to look forward to in the first half of 2018. Details of all events will be in the press shortly and most tickets will be on sale at the Tourist office in Sudbury library.
Opening doors on the Past Sudbury Heritage Centre has launched a new way to involve more people in its operation through a recently set up a new Friends organisation. Already volunteers are sorting documents, offering help with educational projects and enabling the Heritage Centre to open at the weekends. Now the new volunteers are hosting the Heritage Centre in the Town Hall every Saturday from 10am-12.30pm. Admission is free. Up until now it has been closed, except for normal Town Hall office hours on weekdays. ‘This will enable people working during the week to see the exciting new aspects of town history that we are regularly updating both by display and on interactive screens,’ said David Burnett, secretary of the Sudbury Museum Trust which is responsible for the Heritage Centre. ‘The trustees are themselves volunteers and as the work has grown it has become clear that we need more help and to attract fresh input and ideas,‘ he said welcoming volunteers enthusiasm. Friends of the Heritage Centre are mainly visitors who have expressed an interest by filling in a form they collected at the time. Membership is free and the organisation is being run online to minimise the amount of time and expense involved. All volunteers will get regular updates on activities and plans by email. Forms are still available in the Heritage Centre. www.sudburysuffolk.co.uk/heritagecentre/

There are both emotional and practical considerations which come into play during a divorce/separation. There are a number of things you should think about when considering separating from a partner. Documentation If you decide that you wish to commence proceedings then your solicitor will require your marriage certificate, so it will be necessary to locate this or request a duplicate copy from the register office or the church at which you were married. Financials It's important to provide your solicitor with a detail of your income, assets, debts and pensions, so you can take a practical step by starting to collate this information at an early stage. If you own a property then contact a local estate agent to obtain an indication of the current value of the property, they will often provide valuations for free. Quite often it takes several weeks to obtain pension valuations so contact your pension provider at an early stage to obtain details of the value of any pensions you hold. If you have opted to have a paperless account then request copies of your bank statements which are generally needed for a 12 month period. Children If you have children, then consideration will need to be given as to when and how you tell your children about your decision to separate. It is good if you are able to agree a narrative together about what information you provide to the children and also agree when you are going to tell your children. These decisions will need to take into consideration the children's ages and level of understanding. Try your best not to place blame on either party and answer your children's questions and concerns at a level they will understand. Get advice from a divorce solicitor Speak to a family solicitor who will be able to discuss with you the various options available to you. Your solicitor’s advice will include giving you guidance on how to agree issues relevant to your divorce such as children and/or the division of the matrimonial assets. Your solicitor will be able to explain all of the difference process options to you such as kitchen table negotiations, mediation, collaborative law, round table meetings or the commencement of court proceedings. They will help and guide you to find the best process for you and your family taking into consideration your needs and financial circumstances. Ensure that you take along to your first meeting with your divorce solicitor a list of the questions you wish to have answered. This certiďŹ cate is funded by the Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority (IPSA) for the purpose of assisting James Cartlidge MP in the performance of his Parliamentary duties. Printed by Keith Avis, 68 High St, Hadleigh, Ipswich IP7 5EF.
James Cartlidge writes Member of Parliament for South Suffolk I recently wrote a column like this one referring to a ram-raid attack on a Coop store in Lavenham. Writing that, I did not expect that the very same evening I sent off the text for publication that another ram-raid would occur on the other Coop in the very same village. After all, this comes alongside a spate of burglaries in Capel St Mary and a number of other incidents across the constituency. In short, law-breaking in South Suffolk really has become a great concern and I sympathise greatly with those unfortunate enough to have been the victim of such crimes. I know for you, the public at large, that when crime threatens you want to know that we have a visible police presence to deter criminals and reassure residents. Equally, there are many who are worried that we no longer have sufficient officers to perform such a role. After one of the most recent ram-raid incidents I put it point blank to one of Suffolk’s most senior police officers “do you have the resources to handle this issue” and they assured me 100% that they did. The ram-raid attacks have crossed county lines with many more incidents in Essex and Cambridgeshire, and I am assured that forces are cooperating to full effect, and that specialist crime units have been deployed. Of course, more resource would be welcome and the Government recently gave our PCC the power to raise the police precept (i.e. its share council tax further). I hope that all those who share my concerns about crime will contribute to the consultation on how we spend any new precept monies. Most importantly, we also need to remember the need for prevention: staying alert; reporting suspicious activity; taking sensible precautions. For example, we have made great strides putting more alarms on church roofs following a spree of lead thefts, and speaking to the Coop I understand they will be looking at what steps can be taken to better secure their stores. Such measures, and more support for our excellent constabulary, should enable us to toughen our response to those who threaten our security.

The New Year's Day walk was well attended with 38 people turning out for the 4.7 mile stroll, not quite as many as the 40 pictured from last year, but a good number. Some regular walkers, but also a few new faces met in the Quay Lane car park just before 11am to be greeted with the mulled wine and stollen provided by Keith the walk leader, which has become a bit of a tradition for the New Year's Day walk (maybe that's why so many of us turn up!)After we had toasted the New Year in we set off for a lovely walk around Sudbury, after which a number of us visited a local pub for a well deserved lunch. Sudbury Rotary Club News We had a busy programme leading up to Christmas and as a result of your generosity in responding to our various activities, including the Schools Concert, Christmas Tree Festival and Santa’s Grotto, we raised over £4500 for Rotary charities. So a very big thank you! We recently distributed over 250 Usborne Illustrated Dictionaries to local primary schools and we were pleased to receive a number of letters of thanks, some from the children We started off the New Year with a very interesting talk by Keith Davies, the local representative of the Farming Community Network, an organisation which is available to anyone in the farming world to listen to their concerns or requests for help. They have a range of volunteers who have farming and pastoral understanding. Farming can be a lonely, isolated occupation, and it can be useful to have some to “walk with” and support farmers or their families through difficult situations. Their Helpline number is 03000 111 999 and is completely confidential. Talks planned in February include Paul Press who will be telling us about the Offshoot Foundation – local film-making involving young people. Rotary International has a scholarship scheme for gifted students from overseas wishing to undertake postgraduate studies primarily which provide expertise and training in Education, Social Welfare and International development. While they are in this country, a local Rotary Club acts as host to them and each year we have a number studying at Cambridge, the University of East Anglia or Anglia Ruskin University. As part of the conditions of their scholarship they are asked to take part in Rotary activities and on 26th February Adam Burford will be talking to us about his experience so far and his hopes for the future. Later in the year we will be hearing from a scholar from Botswana. At our second meeting of the year we had the pleasure of welcoming and inducting a new member who has transferred to us from the Luton area and she was accompanied by Rotarians from her previous club who came to see her being inducted. They commented on the friendly nature of our club as they saw it, and I hope that we will be able to welcome more new members during this year. It was an opportunity to remind us all of the Rotary values of developing friendships as an opportunity for service, high ethical standards in business and professions, the application of service (“Service above self”) in each Rotarian’s personal, business and community life and the advancement of international understanding, goodwill and peace through our activities. At a recent Council meeting, we agreed to explore the idea of a satellite club which hopefully will attract amongst others younger professional people whose time is limited and could meet on an informal basis and still be part of the Rotary family. Alongside our plans to introduce Rotaract in some of our primary schools and other initiatives, we would together enhance a Rotary presence in Sudbury and district. Leading on from our involvement with schools through our Environment and Youth Committee, we have developed a relationship with SVEN (the Stour Valley Educational Network) and we hope that this link will be of mutual benefit to both organisations and the people we endeavour to serve. Peter Thorogood... Politicians may look like idiots and talk like idiots, but don’t let that fool you, they really are idiots! I see that Babergh DC has elected itself a new headmaster, Councillor John Ward. Councillor Alan Ferguson who was favourite for the post stood aside after being offered the newly invented post of Assistant Deputy. The party closed ranks with our new MP cracking the whip and bullied councillors being brought in line. All this of course because the electorate and certain councillors of all parties refused to ignore the democratic will of the people when they voted, by a healthy majority, not to merge with Mid-Suffolk. Babergh went ahead anyway, appointing a new chief executive at £110,000 per annum, plus a generous public pension, to oversee and manage the merged authorities. The office move to Ipswich, with no parking and distant from Babergh’s population, a work of genius! Incidentally Ipswich is not even within the proposed merged authority. But to be fair let us look at the massive financial savings promised. The total cost for the two councils in 2011-12 was £17,585,000. The cost following the unauthorised merger of the majority of services for 2016-17 was £20,912,000. Methinks our leaders share the same aptitude with sums as Diane Abbott! This bunch are not worthy of trust. It is not the merging of district councils that is needed. What would be the point of that monolithic misgoverned Suffolk County Council if all our district authorities continue to merge and govern from afar? Cameron promised us LOCAL and accountable governance, so let us finally scrap Babergh and its unaccountable and distant rulers and revert to Sudbury and other towns having true Borough status with councillors from our own communities responsible on a daily basis to those that elected them? However, Councillor Ward has amended his previous stance and has promised a second referendum. Don’t hold your breath but should such a ballot be held I await with delight the outcome when the populace again vote to put our councillors in their place! The financial ineptitude shown by those in Westminster’s Reptile House makes the average Suffolk councillor pale into insignificance. Yes, the same Suffolk Council which is set to borrow £21 million to repair our roads. So knowing the matter of our decrepit by-ways could not be ignored forever, why was this figure not included in financial planning, even if an increase in rates was necessitated? This money will still have to be repaid over fifteen years but from where I ask? And now we are informed that even this impressive sum will in no way cover the costs of the works. Our county highways department and their appointed contractors are shown to be not fit for purpose if Sudbury’s roads are anything to go by. Recently the town’s Beaconsfield Road was closed for traffic to allow certain services to be installed but was the opportunity taken to fill the potholed surface? No way, that would have shown some common sense. And should you think I exaggerate take a walk to the Croft and observe the tank traps in the road leading to a busy school. However, the incompetent ways of national government knows no bounds. The very same political system that misgoverns local authorities exists on even a grander scale in the Reptile House. The emerging soap opera of Carillion promises much material and joy to an old scandal monger like me. I await with eager anticipation the accounts of political machinations, pay outs, and dodgy contracts that will be filling the pages of the nationals. But what the fate of those subcontractors and individual tradesmen who face financial ruin whilst the directors and their political pay masters wallow in their honours and off shore funds. There was obviously corruption and secret dealings on a grand scale but I cynically wonder as to whom, eventually, will be brought to account, except of course you, the British taxpayer. And all this hogging the headlines whilst it is announced that in Scotland alone the NHS faces a £10 billion bill for hospitals that cost just £2billion under the corrupt and discredited Public Finance Initiative scheme. Will any politician or civil servant be called to account, will the companies involved be made to repay the obscene profits gained, will government ministers apologise for the squandering of our taxes to line the pockets of those who “donated” to their political parties, and will any politician be prepared to resign from the boards of those grasping and profiteering companies? What think you? Now for a Guinness whilst I ponder the ways of the world, Happy New Year All, Peter Thorogood The usual threats and offers of romance to mandpthorogood@gmail.com

Matthew Gallo – Independent Mortgage Adviser Did you know that when you find a property you are keen to purchase, and decide you would like to put an offer to the selling estate agent to pass on to their vendor, you are not obliged to disclose any financial details, nor are you obliged to sit down with that estate agent’s mortgage adviser, to ‘verify your purchase position’. Similarly, you do not have to provide an Agreement in Principle (AIP) – or Decision in Principle (DIP), to that selling agent, to prove your purchase position. You decide who you refer to for your mortgage advice. Just so you know, an AIP or DIP from a mortgage lender, is basically just a glorified credit score – nothing more. It does not mean you have a mortgage agreed, nor does it confirm your purchase position, it simply means you have passed that lenders’ credit score. Any mortgage adviser worth their salt, can sit down with any client, review their personal and financial position, assess their documentation and establish and confirm a purchase position, without submitting a totally unnecessary credit score to a mortgage lender. Just think about the process of visiting estate agents as you look for a property to buy, and the number of agents you will typically register with and view property through. I meet clients who have been exposed to numerous and frankly pointless AIP’s and DIP’s undertaken by mortgage advisers, and guess what – all these credit scores are registered against you – potentially prejudicing your purchase positon, rather than enhancing it. Think about it, all these credit scores – and all based on assumed figures – not accurate ones, and if the figures change, or it takes a while for you to find a property to buy, it is likely to not even be that lender you ultimately use for your mortgage. The only time a mortgage adviser should undertake an Agreement in Principle or Decision in Principle, is when a purchase price is actually agreed, and mortgage figures can be put to a mortgage lender accurately. If an adviser has concerns about a client’s credit history, the client can simply produce a general credit score via any number of on line sources. Doing an AIP or DIP will not give an adviser the information they need credit history wise. From an advice perspective, my attitude and approach is simple and straightforward, with the only way to conduct a mortgage review, remortgage or purchase application case, being to spend time collating the facts. A thorough understanding of a clients’ personal and financial position in the first instance, with comprehensive information gathering - as well as making sure all relevant documentation is provided by my client and held on file, before any approach is made by me to a mortgage lender to discuss a case. If the case facts are understood clearly from outset by both adviser and mortgage lender, it limits any issues or misunderstanding as an application progresses. In my opinion, that is the only way to so the job properly, securing what everybody wants – a great, competitive mortgage, that is clearly explained by the adviser, completely understood by the client, and utterly meeting the needs of the borrower. I can meet you in my office above Frost & Partners Estate Agents in Hadleigh, and any initial meeting for a general conversation, would be without both charge and commitment. Suffolk Libraries are teaming up with the Sporting Memories Network in the New Year to host Sporting Memories Groups in some of the county’s libraries. Sporting Memories Groups are for anyone over the age of 50 and are a great way of bringing people together, creating new friendships and enjoying a chance to revisit memories and share stories prompted by superb sporting images and memorabilia from local and national collections. Open to all, the sessions include games, quizzes and a fun game or activity, and welcome people living with dementia, depression and loneliness by bringing people together to talk about their memories of sport. The new Suffolk Libraries Sporting Memories groups are due to launch on Tuesday 6 February at Ipswich County Library where local Suffolk sporting ambassadors will be invited to share some stories from their sporting past. As well as sharing memories, anyone can bring along their memorabilia or photographs as these are a great way of triggering people’s memories and starting conversations. 2018 marks 40 years since Ipswich Town won the FA cup so many people will have fond memories of the cup run from 1978. However, the project is not just about football and whether its speedway, local club cricket, or visits to the Olympics or Paralympics everyone is encouraged to share their sporting memory whether it’s taking part in sport when they were younger or witnessing an exciting sporting event. Anyone is welcome to come along to a session to find out more, whether it’s for themselves or a relative or friend. Anyone interesting in helping to facilitate or support the new groups can find out more via Richard Hunt, Suffolk Project Coordinator on 07704 977322 or email richard.hunt@sportingmemoriesnetwork.com You can also register your interest in volunteering via www.suffolklibraries.co.uk/sportingmemories Sporting Memories Groups will run weekly at the following libraries: Sudbury Library – dates and times to be confirmed early in 2018 Hadleigh Library every Friday from 9 February (2pm-3.45pm) Ipswich Central Library – every Tuesday from 6 February (2pm – 3.45pm) Stowmarket Library – every Wednesday from 7 February (10.30am -12.15) There is more information about the new groups at www.suffolklibraries.co.uk/sportingmemories and more information about the national Sporting Memories project at www.sportingmemoriesnetwork.com

Sudbury Dramatic Society The first production from Sudbury Dramatic Society at Sudbury’s Quay Theatre is Kafka’s Dick, a comedy by Alan Bennett, which is on from Tuesday 20th March to Saturday 24th March at 7.45pm. Alan Bennett’s play begins when the famous Czech novelist, Franz Kafka, instructs his friend Max Brod to burn all his writings after his death. Max, of course, doesn’t comply, instead he publishes all of Kafka’s work and writes a definitive biography of the novelist. In the present day, Max turns up on the suburban doorstep of the Kafkaobsessed Sydney, his put-upon wife Linda and her confused father, following a rather unfortunate accident with a tortoise in the front garden. This ‘Kafkaesque’ situation only increases when the tortoise turns into, the equally long dead, Kafka himself. Suddenly, Sydney and Max find themselves on a mission not to let the novelist discover that his works have not only survived his death but have made him rather famous. Things go from bad to worse when Kafka’s dominating father, Hermann, also turns up and threatens to disclose to the world the one little thing about Kafka that he really doesn’t want anyone to know…... Kafka’s Dick is being directed by Peter Drew, who was responsible for the successful Shadowlands, who says ‘Kafka’s Dick is a hilarious and thoughtprovoking play, written in Alan Bennett’s well-known witty style and wry way with words, and is sure to entertain and delight all our audiences’. Karfa’s Dick is on at The Quay Theatre Tuesday 20th to Saturday 24th March at 7.45pm and tickets are available now from The Quay Theatre Box Office on 01787 374745 or online at www.quaysudbury.org.uk.

Well I’ve seen it all now. Rupert the pig was a baby when he arrived last summer and quickly settled into a routine. Mum lets him out around 5am (he sleeps in a crate in the office like all well mannered porkers) then deals with her emails, by which time he is demanding his breakfast. Yesterday he was strangely quiet and no wonder. There he was, IN the feed bin, helping himself to MY biscuits with only his loin chops showing! Ollie says I must tell you we have some lovely cats four who came in together when their owner died. Geordie, one of the four, looks just like Ollie to me - but don't tell him I said so! The fundraising events start in March with an Easter Gift and Craft Fair on 10th at Whatfield Village Hall on 10th and a Book Sale on 24th at Hintlesham & Chattisham Community Centre. If you want to make some holiday money and have nice things to sell, phone 01206 263269 to book a table at our Spring Fair on 22nd April at Long Melford. Although Christmas seems long ago, we are still enjoying goodies from the parcels kind people dropped off over the festive season. Mum didn’t get to see all of you and specially asked me to thank you. Which reminds me, that not-so-small pig is heading back indoors so it’s time to check there are still some dog biscuits for me, Kenny (the Boss) Chihuahua. New rural craft courses at Orchard Barn New craft courses are planned over the coming months at Orchard Barn near Battisford as the centre’s hand-made craft room takes shape. As a tree and wood orientated enterprise it was decided to make a start with a Spoon Carving course on Saturday, March 10. What better way to spend some time than learning new skills carving small pieces of greenwood into beautiful and functional spoons? Much of the greenwood is sourced from Orchard Barn’s own orchard, so with apple pruning coming up the bigger pieces will be saved for carving. The smaller sticks are greatly enjoyed by one of volunteer’s pet rabbits and the rest are chomped up and converted into compost for the vegetable garden. Upcycling, repurposing and recycling are central to everything that Orchard Barn does. If you are interested in spoon carving, restorative orchard tree pruning or compost making please have a look at our courses by visiting www.orchardbarn.org.uk/calender. If you’re interested in volunteering and helping develop the rural craft course programme please email sarah@orchardbarn.org.uk.

Stoke by Nayland Ladies Eleven of the Stoke by Nayland Ladies went out to play 9 holes on Thursday 4th January the first Ladies match in 2018! Unfortunately it was another wet day, which made the playing conditions fairly unpleasant, although some ladies returned some encouraging results. After the match many past and present members came up to the club for a social afternoon. We had refreshments followed by an inspiring fitness talk from the leisure club, many ladies took the Club president Lesley Garnett with opportunity to sign up for pre Lily May Humphreys and season private training sessions Ladies Captain Elaine Davidson especially designed for golfers fitness. We also had a visit from our junior member 15 year old Lily May Humphreys. We took the opportunity to congratulate her on her recent successes. Lily May joined us on the 4th January following her terrific win in America. She is the first English winner of the Jnr Orange Bowl International held at Biltmore Golf Course in Coral Gables, Miami, in December - winning by 9 shots!

Through the generosity of the Senior golfers of Stoke by Nayland 12 large crates of food and supplies of all sorts were recently delivered to the Sudbury Storehouse Food Bank. The Food Bank is based at the Vineyard Church in Sudbury and provides emergency food for families and individuals in crisis. It works through a referral system with a number of caring agencies in the Sudbury area. In 2007 around 80 people were supported by Storehouse, in 2016 it was around 1300. The Stoke by Nayland Senior golfers decided to do their bit to support those local families who need just that little bit of extra help, particularly at this very expensive time of the year. At their final competition of 2017, 54 members each raided their kitchen cupboards to provide a little festive cheer to needy Sudbury families. The initial plan was for each golfer to donate 1 tin, but the generous Seniors ignored this advice as they each brought in bag after bag of all sorts of tinned and dried produce. A great car load of 12 crates of produce, plus additional bags were delivered to the Storehouse volunteers who were amazed as box after box were carried in!! Well done, you good old boys of Stoke by Nayland!! May your golf balls always fly straight!! And well done to the Storehouse Food Bank volunteers, what a fantastic job you do for families in crisis.

Suffolk Rockets Netball Club We started our New Year quickly with training back on from 3rd January! 2018 has seen some new Back to Netball ladies join us, we are always looking for new players to join, please do get in touch if you fancy trying out our sessions. The club is busy booking friendly games and tournaments for 2018 so the B2N ladies can put their training into practice. Our Juniors were back playing in the Colchester League from 11th January and it was a great start with Cosmic Rockets winning their first game back 63 against Colne, and Saturn Rockets having a tight game against Kelvedon (top of the league) and narrowly missing out on the win by 1 goal finishing 1213 to Kelvedon. Coaching Opportunity - We are looking to recruit a qualified level 1 or level 2 Netball Coach, or a qualified Sports Coach, this is a paid role. As a Suffolk Rockets Coach you will be expected to train the Juniors alongside the Head Coach, and support when needed with the Back to Netball/Ladies Training. Training is Wednesdays 6.30pm - 9pm. Also you will be given the option to support the Junior Teams in their league matches on Thursdays 7pm - 8pm and tournaments throughout the season. This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to work alongside and learn from an experienced Academy Coach and to have support to continue their professional development. For more information please contact the club. Are You Interested In Becoming A Netball Coach? Suffolk Rockets is looking to support 2 individuals to become Netball Coaches. The club would support you financially to complete your qualifications, in return you would be expected to volunteer during your training to become a coach at the Junior Training and when needed the B2N/Ladies Training sessions. Please contact the club for more details. suffolkrocketsnc@hotmail.com. FB/Twitter Suffolk Rockets NC
