Carols With The Capel Singers December 15th 7.30pm Christmas starts here. Definitely not a nine lessons and carols, this selection of Carols is interspersed with Readings drawn from a wide range of sources, some traditional favourites, some in dialect, some humorous, and some thought provoking. With Carols by Ireland, Rutter, Willcocks and Britten telling the Christmas story this is an evening to enjoy, especially when followed by seasonal refreshments in the Church Hall after the concert. Stephen Smith supports the Capel Singers on the historic Father Wills organ, and for the first time for many years we can promise a warm welcome and a comfortable chair in our refurbished church. So make a date for 15th December at St Mary’s Church, Capel St Mary at 7.30pm. Further details Chris Yule 01473 310992.

The Church of St Peter & St Paul, Lavenham Fundraising ‘Bridge Drive’ comes up trumps A fundraising game of classic card game bridge came up trumps as more than £1,417.50 was raised to boost Lavenham Church’s Building Fund, which will be used to pay for the repairs to the roof, recently damaged by lead thieves. The successful charity bridge drive was held on Wednesday 28th October in Lavenham Village Hall and attracted bridge fans from far and wide. The players enjoyed some good and some not so good hands of the cards interrupted only by afternoon tea and a raffle. A total of £1,417.50 was raised on the day, with a further £55 being donated after the event by supporters who were unable to attend. Organiser Jean Charity, thanked all who attended, the helpers, and all who donated prizes for the raffle. The Revd Mark Woodrow, Curate at Lavenham Church, said: "This was a fantastic result which shows what can be achieved when people, such as Jean and her team of helpers, come together to organise events to raise funds for our iconic place of worship, which we hope is at the very heart of village life.” He added that "thanks to the support of the local community, work to repair the damage caused by the thieves is expected to begin in the next few weeks".

The Brook Inn: This community owned free house pub was the chosen venue for Lunch Bunchers and what a wise choice it was too. The discerning diners all enjoyed pub food at its very best; tasty, freshly prepared and all reasonably priced. There was a good choice of dishes plus some daily specials with yummy desserts to follow. The venue is quite rightly known for its hospitality and for its impressive gluten free menu. It is one of the first pubs in the area to specialise in GF food and to be accredited by Coeliac UK. A summer visit is planned to take advantage of their garden. Absent Friends: Ayckbourn’s humorous exploration of friendship, marriage and happiness delighted our theatre goers one gloomy wet afternoon. Although first produced in 1974, the sentiments expressed in this performance by the touring London Classical Theatre Company seemed just as relevant today. Munnings’ Month: Just once in a while we are fortunate enough to be able to combine the topic for the monthly meeting with an appropriate outing. Happily, an illustrated talk by Jenny Hand, the Director of the Munnings' House and Art Collection, was followed two days later by an exclusive visit to his Inside Munnings’ Studio with Director, lovely house in Dedham. Jenny Hand. (front right) Jenny gave us an interesting insight into the man, his work and chequered career with colourful examples of all. Once inside his comfortable home the ladies were able to view and enjoy the real thing including the studio where many of his paintings were completed. The garden looked magnificent with its rich autumn colours and photogenic horses. The tea room in the grounds provided a fitting end to a most enjoyable, stimulating afternoon. Jan Devey

The trustees of the Rosa Simon Music Fund are delighted to be able to tell you that the Fund has made two donations to support really exciting initiatives at Hadleigh High School. The first of £1000 will go towards the School buying 15 iPads for use in music education and composition, allowing children with lots or no musical training to participate. Secondly, we have offered £500 towards a project timed for next year for work with professional musicians to create a piece of modern music to commemorate the men of Hadleigh who fell in the Battle of the Somme. This will be performed at the town memorial service in Hadleigh and at a special ceremony on the anniversary of the battle in France. The money will be used to help fund the cost of bringing professional musicians into school and working with students to create a piece of modern music. It will also help with the creation of CDs that will be distributed to the local community. That just leaves me to once again thank the community of Hadleigh and the surrounding villages for their unstinting support and good wishes for Rosa's Fund. That's everyone who has donated money and time, the organisations that have received funding, the children and young adults who have taken part in any activity supported by the Fund, the very many volunteers who've worked unstintingly in delivering our activities and Karen, Maggie, Matthew and Nigel - my fellow trustees. Wishing all of you a Happy Christmas and a safe and prosperous 2016! Paul Simon & Family

Sudbury casts its web further! Monday November 9th saw the launch of a new initiative by the Sudbury Town Team who are delighted to announce the arrival of their new website and mobile app for Sudbury. Sam Bawden the Chairman of the Sudbury Town Team confirmed “See and Do Sudbury will be the place to go to find out where to shop, dine, stay, explore, it will also have the latest news and what events are on. The new website will be the place residents and visitors can go to find out what is available and happening in Sudbury and to find out all Sudbury has to offer. We are delighted by the assistance that has been provided in creating this exciting new web presence by Jabu Design who have thoroughly demonstrated their commitment and support for this project and have given substantial support in taking forward this opportunity to market and promote Sudbury in a modern and dynamic way. Their work is much appreciated and I am sure will deliver significant benefits in future to both Sudbury businesses and also those looking to put on events in the Sudbury area.” Kelly Pepper, Creative Director of Jabu Design Ltd, 10 Station Road, Sudbury added “Users can take advantage of unique offers and rewards direct from their favourite businesses, find out about local events and browse local businesses. We hope the new digital platform will increase footfall into the town centre which is especially important after the devastating fire. It’s been a pleasure working with the town team and I’m pleased to be part of such an exciting and positive project.” Jane Hatton, Town Team Development Manager, Sudbury Town Team

This season’s issue, with its great variety of subjects, marks the beginning of the magazines fifth year. I would like to thank all the people who have supported this project by contributing articles, by lending photographs and, of course, by buying the magazine every three months. As there are so many features in this edition, here are just a few to give you a flavour of events in Bildeston’s history. ‘John Wymer’s archaeological notes’ puts in context two separate finds on the outskirts of the village some 50,000 and 10,000 years after parties of hunter-gatherers passed this way dropping, discarding or losing these flint tools. John lived on and off in Bildeston from the 1970’s and was Britain’s foremost authority on early Stone Age settlement, with forty years of research published as two volumes in 1998. In the Shire Archaeology series, his Mesolithic Britain (1991) is a wonderful introduction to the subject. The story of the parish workhouses begins in 1676, when four Bildeston gentlemen financed the purchase of a building in Chapel Street that, for just over one hundred years, housed parishioners unable to support themselves. Here, they were taught to spin, with the idea that some inmates would eventually be able to leave and maintain themselves by preparing yarn on spinning wheels provided for them. The building was eventually demolished and the money raised from the sale of its materials partly contributed towards the building of the clock tower in Market Place. Oswald Simpson of Elmsett has kindly loaned his collection of old post-cards of Bildeston and the first to appear in the magazine is of the erection of a telephone pole outside Nos. 96 and 98 High Street in 1924. To accompany this, the first subscribers to the Bildeston exchange are listed. As well as the National School in Chapel Street, during the 19th century, there were several private schools in the village that took boarders as well as day pupils. One such establishment was known as Mansion House School, which was run for twenty years from 1872 by Mrs Upcher Cousins and her husband, where the sons and daughters of some of Bildeston’s shopkeepers were educated. ‘Working on the land in 17th century Bildeston (part 2)’ features livestock and dairying, a major element in the farming economy of this district at that time. Evidence comes from inventories drawn up to accompany wills into probate courts. Apparently, Revd Humphrey Morgan was the only one to keep bees, unless appraisers considered that bees were not domestic creatures and therefore not for inclusion in their assessments. This issue sees the last of Peter Hubbard’s memories of Bildeston during the 1930s. He recalls a care-free childhood of indoor activities, adventure games with friends around the village, trips to the seaside and Christmas gifts. If you would like to share your memories of Bildeston in times gone by, please contact the editor, Sue Andrews (01449 740673) Bildeston History Quarterly is on sale at the beginning of December at Bank Stores and Brook Farm studio in Bildeston, Avis Newsagent and Idler Bookshop in Hadleigh and Hollow Trees Farm Shop in Semer, price £3.

GSOLICITORS IBBONS Howard in the grounds of the Gibbons’ Mansion

Hello my dear Readers. As with all businessmen, my practice is a way of life and I have to do very long hours. I am fortunate that I can undertake the odd sojourn to other parts of the world. As the last vestiges of Summer disappeared to oblivion, I asked my chauffeur Frank to prepare one of the sports limousines for continental touring. Trunks were loaded and Frank took us to board a vessel at Harwich where the motor car was stowed in the hold. The flying “B” proud on the bonnet cut through the air and we were soon leaving the express carriageways behind us and arrived at Chateau d’Urspelt in the Northern regions of the Principality of Luxembourg. We were able to explore Luxembourg’s “mini Switzerland” and the Moselle wine valley to the South. All too quickly the sun’s ray’s glinted upon our chromed wheels as we disembarked back in the UK. You will know how much I enjoy light and jazz piano. The sight of a grand piano sends tingles down my spine as does an organ. If you like our kind of music do have a listen to Stephanie Trick who is a fantastic young stride piano jazz pianist. You will find a lot of You Tube recordings on line. I am sure that you will enjoy her. Why is it that some restaurants keep one waiting for so long. My mother and I went to a place some distance away and after waiting for more than half an hour we had to leave. We had said that we were in a hurry and could have cooked the meal ourselves quicker. Frank’s wife Maria who is my housekeeper appeared in the Dining Room. I was just gazing at her dumplings nestled and golden a-top a casserole and Maria asked me what a Grant of Probate is. When a person sadly dies, banks, asset holders and the Land Registry will need to see a Grant which proves that the Personal Representatives named are properly appointed. In order to obtain a Grant one has to have made a return of the value of the Estate for purposes of Inheritance Tax and to pay the tax if appropriate. Unfortunately Maria’s Uncle Miguel had expired and his son Ricardo was trying to decide what he should do. Naturally he asked us to deal with the matter. As always, if you are buying or selling a house, entering a Lasting Power of Attorney or making a Will – do get in touch with us. You will have plenty to talk about at the Christmas Lunch table. Have a very Happy Christmas, Howard Gibbons

Hot Mamas will always be our winners!

The Hot Mamas journey to the Ipswich Has Got Talent final came to an end on Friday 13th; unlucky for some - sadly they didn't leave the competition with the winning title but they have achieved so much and enjoyed the experience which is one they will all never forget! Lesley Woods, Dance Teacher and Principle of Miss Lesley's School of Performing Arts said "The Hot Mamas were sizzling! Congratulations to all my hard working, enthusiastic, fun loving ladies as they did me and themselves Very proud! To get to the final made them all winners. They were up against many contestants who were already 'performers' but they shone through and danced a faultless routine!" After performing Hayley Hynard from Bildeston said "standing back stage I was so nervous but when we heard our names and walked onto the stage hearing all the cheers from families and friends it was amazing and I enjoyed every second". Caroline Gage from Monks Eleigh said of the experience "I think we entertained with a capital 'E' although we may not have won, there is no greater prize than having the best time ever and putting smiles on the audiences faces". Bildeston resident Rebecca Hiscock said "All the acts were fantastic and congratulations to singer Tia B, a worthy winner". Well Done Hot Mamas! Do not let anyone dull your sparkle and always reach for your goals! We all wish you success on wherever your Hot Mama journey takes you next!

Shared Voices Shared Voices is coming up to its 20th anniversary as a local community choir that started long before Gareth Malone, pop choirs, rock choirs etc became popular. Around 600 people have sung with us over those years and quite a few went on to form their own choirs. We had resident teachers and a huge variety of guest teachers of outstanding quality from New England, Australia, New Zealand and Africa as well as the very best of English teachers and have attracted singers from Cambridge to Norwich and down to London We are not a Choral Choir, we are a Natural Voice choir (www.naturalvoice.net) in a network of over 500 like minded choir leaders who believe that everyone can sing with encouragement and support. No auditions, no music to read - we learn by listening and copying, no criticism, no blame. Mistakes are an essential part of learning, we go wrong, we put it right in a collaborative process of understanding and improving. The focus is on singing and sharing, not competing, some choirs do performances, Shared Voices does not. We sing a capella which means just our voices in 3 or 4 parts with rich harmonies and rhythms. We sing songs from most genres - gospel, pop, folk and from around the world musical spine tingling traditions such as African, Georgian, Maori, Corsican. I have been running the choir for most of those 20 years and recently I started teaching the choir. I have weekly choirs and a performance quintet of singers - Down To Earth. I have sung with over 50 excellent choir leaders and over 50 different choirs and groups all round the world so I really do know what it is like to learn songs, especially with a bunch of strangers. My familiarity with learning means I understand the difficulties and can help my singers to quickly and easily learn their parts. Every singer is helped as appropriate to come up to speed, it is unkind and stupid to leave them struggling. More importantly we have FUN. It is as much a social group, catching up with friends, having tea coffee and cakes. Singing well means you have to listen well. People and Community come first, then the songs flow naturally We will be raising money for charity in our December and January singing sessions and we would particularly welcome new singers to come along and try our way of singing. We meet monthly on Saturday mornings, usually first or second, at Bentley Village Hall from 10.30 - 1.00 Clive Barker 01473 611171 clivebarker1@btinternet.com www.sharedvoices.org.uk

Hadleigh Footpath Volunteers The November walk in support of the Mayor’s nominated charities took place on a very wet day and attracted 21 hardy souls. December’s walk on Saturday 12th will leave from Stonehouse Road at 10am and will head for Hintlesham via Aldham Hall, Aldham Priory, Flowton Brook, Burstall and ending at the Hintlesham George. The walk is 8 miles in length and everyone, including well behaved dogs, is welcome. Strong shoes or preferably walking boots should be worn as, being winter, the ground can be wet and rough in places. We will return to Hadleigh on the 2:33pm bus. In order to avoid the Christmas rush, we will hold our annual walkers lunch on Saturday January 9th at the Kersey Bell. We will walk to Kersey from Hadleigh via Ash Street and come back to Hadleigh on the Monk’s path in the afternoon. It would help us plan if everyone intending to come along would let us know by 15th December. We will need to let the Bell know our menu selections from their web site by 4th January. For further information about these walks email us at hfpvwalkers@gmail.com or contact David Warner (Hadleigh Footpath Warden) on 01473 652416 or 07749 732941.

We are marking the fact that this year our Queen became our longest ever reigning monarch with three special pieces: we open with a selection from Handel’s popular Royal Fireworks Suite, later in the programme we shall perform ‘Five Courtly Dances’ from Britten’s Gloriana suite and finish with ‘Crown Imperial’ by Walton. In between we shall include the theme music from ‘Game of Thrones’, Bach’s lovely ‘Sleepers Awake’ and, as always, four well known carols for you to sing accompanied by the Orchestra. Everybody is welcome and as usual admission is free, but we do ask for a donation as you leave so that we can cover expenses and make a donation to the URC. John Druce (chairman)

Having recently started a seasonal job in a well-known kitchen gadget and bakeware store in Ipswich, I am in food heaven, testing the latest products and baking cakes for shop display. I keep having to pinch myself just to check I’m not dreaming! I thought I would pay homage to vegetarians this month, with a quick but very scrumptious alternative to turkey. Altogether now, “Chestnuts roasting by Sarah Thompson on an open fire”… I look forward to meeting everyone who is coming to the Christmas Day lunch at the Ansell Centre, but whatever you are doing, have a wonderful time. Pasta with chestnuts and parsley Ingredients: 135g peeled and cooked chestnuts, 2 garlic cloves, 4 tbsp chopped fresh flatleaf parsley, 1 tsp lemon juice, 125ml extra-virgin olive oil, plus extra for frying, 20g vegetarian Parmesan, finely grated, plus extra for serving, Large knob of butter, 250g chestnut mushrooms, sliced, 350g fusilli pasta. Method 1. In a food processor, whizz the chestnuts, garlic, parsley, lemon juice and some seasoning to a course paste. Slowly add the oil, then stir through the cheese. 2. Heat a splash of oil and a knob of butter in a frying pan over a medium-high heat. Add the mushrooms and fry for 5 minutes until golden. 3. Meanwhile, cook the pasta in a pan of boiling water until al dente. Drain and toss with the mushrooms and chestnut paste. Top with Parmesan to serve.

Engaging experts overflying with drone mounted cameras is a way of golf clubs getting flattering images to help advertise their courses. The cost does not usually leave much change out of a four figure sum, but one enterprising club has identified a different way of capturing high-level stills of their course – at virtually nil cost. Newton Green Golf Club in Suffolk recently took on property firm Palmer & Partners as sponsors, and the company used its pole-mounted camera to take a picture of a presentation it sponsored in the club’s golf week. Once seeing the result of the exercise, the club realised it had the potential to be used to produce high-level pictures of the course. Peter Philpott, club chairman, explained: “Many estate agents are now using these pole-mounted cameras to enhance their property advertising, and the results are impressive. “Once we saw the shot the firm produced from the golf week, we asked them if they would consider trying the pole-mounted camera on the course, which they agreed to do. “We have been very impressed with the results, which gives us the opportunity to use a new photographic dimension to promote our club. “In return, we have added the company’s logo to our web site and the whole exercise has been a win-win situation for everyone. It has been a very good illustration of how sponsorship can be a bonus for all parties.”

The Orchard Barn recipe Take 1 ½ acres on which stands • A 17th century barn, with ‘modern’ tin roof, held up with structural ivy, • A tumbled-down cottage not lived in since the 1930’s, • A large silted up pond, • A neglected orchard of apple and plum trees • An abundance of stinging nettles, thistles, brambles and ivy. Add to this unpromising mix over a period of eight years – • Much planning and financial head-scratching, • Guidance of many experts, • Several thousand man hours of voluntary work, • Donations, help and support from many local people and businesses.

Orchard Barn 2007 - 2015 Result – A thriving community resource that brings together a happy group of regular volunteers and provides training opportunities for amateurs and professionals in a wide range of rural skills. If you’d like to get involved then why don’t you pay us a visit? Come along any Wednesday, we are SW of Mill Road, Battisford or visit our website www.orchardbarn.org.uk or phone 01473-658193.

Benton Street - The people have spoken and the council have listened Meeting With The Residents Benton Street may be one of the most attractive and sought-after streets in Hadleigh, but long-time residents of Hadleigh will know that Benton Street has always had a traffic problem. Benton Street is one of our main access routes to the A12 and Manningtree, but the narrow street and pavements make this road extremely difficult to travel along as a driver or pedestrian. This problem has been made worse in recent years with the increase in number and size of lorries and other vehicles. Lorries over 7.5 tons are prohibited from travelling through Benton Street (with some exceptions) and new signage on the A12 may assist, but some drivers disobey the rules. The main problem in Benton Street is safety; vehicles regularly mount the pavement and this is particularly dangerous due to the narrow pavements. Safety is the main priority for Suffolk County Council. District Councillor Kathryn Grandon has been regularly meeting with representatives of Benton Street to try to find a solution. The truth is, there is no real ‘solution’, only a best compromise. A meeting during the summer between Kathryn Grandon and Councillor James Finch, Suffolk County Councillor with responsibility for Highways and Transport, and Steve Merry a senior engineer in the Highways Department, looked at many options. These options were put before the residents of Benton Street when Hadleigh Town Council hosted a consultation evening on 10th November. The Grand Hall of the Town Hall was almost full with Benton Street residents. Following an introduction by Councillor Sue Angland, Kathryn Grandon explained some of the options and their ‘pros and cons’. Options include: One-way system – using Hook Lane, Pond Hall Road and Station Road. Roundabout – at Hook Lane or near Great Wenham. Shared space – whereby pavements are removed, allowing traffic and pedestrians to share space. Traffic lights Chicane/build-out – similar to the one shown in the picture. Other options were also discussed. The preferred option for Suffolk County Council is the chicane, as it provides improved pedestrian safety in one of the narrowest points of the road, filters traffic and may deter lorries. The other options were considered unviable. Residents were given the opportunity to question Steve Merry on the various options and provide their own views on potential solutions, but most people were not in favour of a chicane. It appeared that the majority in the room preferred the one-way system. At the end of the meeting, James Finch summarised: “We are listening. I understand from what I have heard today that you do not want a chicane and we don’t want to force something on you that you would consider unacceptable. Long term, the Council will look into other options that meet your safety, speed and traffic volume concerns.” Other options will be looked into, including a one-way system, but that will be a long-term strategy. Currently, there are no funds for a costly scheme, but that does not mean, with various housing plans in place, that matters will not change in the future. Kathryn Grandon, Babergh District Councillor

Family-owned Stoke by Nayland Hotel, Golf & Spa and Boxford Suffolk Farms win Best Green Enterprise BALE award Hot on the heels of becoming one of the East Anglian “Green 100” companies the family owned Boxford Group which incorporates Stoke by Nayland Hotel, Golf & Spa and Boxford Suffolk Farms has just won another prestigious green award at the Suffolk Agricultural The Anaerobic Digester plant Association’s annual awards at Boxford Farms dinner last week. The award for Best Green Enterprise business was presented to the two companies in recognition of their outstanding contribution to the environment. They have built a 750 watt Anaerobic Digester unit which is fed with pomace from the Copella juice plant and maize, and they have also installed five Biomass Boilers on their farm and at the hotel which are fed with wood chip from the golf courses and fruit orchards. These processes together provide power to Boxford Suffolk Farms, Stoke by Nayland Hotel, Golf & Spa resort and to the Copella processing plant. Solar panels have also been installed on all of the hotel, country lodges and farm buildings and environmentally friendly practices are strongly adhered to in the management of the golf courses and fruit orchards. Family Group Director, Tamara Unwin said: “We are really thrilled to have been presented with this award which recognises our substantial efforts to reduce our carbon footprint, and to hopefully eventually become selfsustainable in both our farming and our hotel and leisure businesses. Our parents started farming here over 60 years ago - and were founder members of the Soil Association. They were always very conscientious about taking care of the environment and so would have been very proud to see the next generation continuing to follow these practices in all areas of the business”.

The traditional milling world is mourning the passing of one of the most experienced millwrights, Vincent Pargeter. Vincent, who died on the 31st October 2015 , had worked on mills for all of his working career covering the whole of the East of England. His knowledge was second to none, built from years studying and recording the construction of mills and then repairing them, all with immense care and attention. Vincent was a great help to us here at Kersey, with his Vincent Pargeter (far right) incredible knowledge and skill, freely shared on a visit to help us at with great enthusiasm. Our thoughts are with Kersey Mill his family and close friends. We have been fortunate to have millwrights Bill Griffiths and Tim Whiting; Tim spent many years working with Vincent on various wind and water mills throughout the area. During November Bill and Tim have been working on the repair and insertion of 2 new sole plates one having been repaired and the other replaced with oak replicating the original, these then support the 2 vertical upright that stretch from the ground floor to the central ridge some 27 feet. These timbers form the first part on the frame restoration that eventually will enable all the rotten and decayed timber joists and flooring to be replaced or repaired as required. It’s fantastic to see the quality craftsmanship and skill they put into each piece of timber, ensuring the mill is repaired & retaining as much of the original fabric as possible, these guys are dedicated to sympathetic repair methods and understand not just heavy timber frame buildings but the intricacies and finer points of a water driven flour mill. Photograph is of Tim chiselling out a Birdsmouth joint, sometimes known as Birdsbeak joint, as that is what it resembles, cut into one of the vertical timbers before it was erected, the joint shall become home to the horizontal timber that joins to form an H frame on the original front section of the mill, they then support the upper floors. Santa’s Workshop tickets are selling very quickly with some dates now sold out. If you are unable to book online do please call us on 01473 829317 for last minute availability. Hadleigh Evening WI At their November meeting, members of Hadleigh Evening WI were transported into the deep sea by a presentation of beautiful photos and videos taken by Sandy Claireaux and Ellen Williams. Tropical seas are populated by a shoals of fish of different sizes, shapes and colours. Many pictures showed the fish, swimming around coral reefs. Some like the stonefish, are masters of disguise, indistinguishable from their background. Others like the octopus, can change their appearance to conceal their identity. Background music from Enya complemented most of the presentation. The theme from the film jaws was used for pictures and videos of a variety of sharks and whales. Sandy modelled the wet suit and equipment they use to ensure their survival when swimming under water. (See picture) Several members attended the Federation Council meeting. The speaker was Jane Robinson author of a fascinating book about the Women’s Institute “A Force to be reckoned with”. During the war the WI was famous for making jam, to make use of local fruit and feed the population during the food shortage. It is well known the original Calendar Girls were from the WI. There are over 200,000 women in the UK who belong to the WI. Their membership is growing. They cross class and religion, include all ages -from students and young professionals to rural centenarians. Importantly they are non-party political. This was why Tony Blair was slow hand clapped, when he was speaking at a WI National meeting. His talk was construed as a party political speech on behalf of the labour party. Her book also concentrated on the WIs role in the education and inspiration of women. Our lunch date at the Monks Eleigh Swan provided such an opportunity. It was preceded by a demonstration of the preparation and cooking of game, including venison, rabbit, pigeon and pheasant. These were the main ingredients of tasty dishes served at the three course lunch. Next month’s meeting will be held at 7.30pm on Tuesday 15th December in the Seminar suite above the library. In a version of Desert Island discs members will bring a record to play and explain what they mean to them. Visitors and new members are welcome. For further details you are welcome to contact Philippa Carruthers at:phil.carruthers40@hotmail.co.uk Tel 01473 823057

Surviving Winter in Hadleigh (Hadleigh's Own Charity) It was pleasing to note that we had three further offers of support as a result of last month's article. Thank you to: Mrs. M. Sloper, Jill Whittard and Mr. Rodger Howell. Also on board to deliver any fuel where required is Toby of The Mens Room in the High Street. The EADT are again supporting the Surviving Winter appeal and they have quoted a figure of 450 deaths in Suffolk each winter, attributed to constant cold exposure and inadequate heating. Recent medical study of both winter and summer temperature related deaths has established deaths were seldom due to sudden changes in temperature, but as a result of a sustained level of exposure applying to both seasons. One good reason why this charity is concentrating on additional ways to beat cold for those of restricted means. Our present coverage includes Hadleigh and the following villages: Aldham, Boxford, Elmsett, Kersey, Layham, Raydon, Semer, Whatfield. We have sadly been obliged to omit Bildeston, Chattisham & Hintlesham and Polstead. These last named villages will be added as soon as funds permit. We would also greatly welcome any practical support as and when required. Our contact details are as below but due to prior bookings we will have a messaging machine only from 20th December until 7th January. Postal address: Surviving Winter in Hadleigh, P.O. Girls Tower Rethink Fashion Friday 13th November was the day a fashion show was held for the Hadleigh Community. Its aim; to provide a great time for all who attended, whilst raising money for the work of the Porch Project. Girls Tower was just one group that played a part in this event. Girls Tower exists for young women (school years 7-10) to provide them with the space to build healthy relationships with other young women and provide the opportunity to use this time to develop their physical, mental, spiritual and social well-being and education through a range of activities and resources. If anyone wishes to join Girls Tower, please contact youthworker2@porchproject.co.uk. Girls Tower has been working on creating outfits for the Fashion Show. These were created from clothes found in Charity Shops and ‘upcycled’ into something new. The photos show only a few of their designs, which many of the girls helped to display at the event and then chose to model these for the Catwalk. These designs were also part of a larger competition run on the night, which was open to all young people aged 11-20. The young people were invited to design either t-shirts or outfits, and there was much creativity shown by all applicants. Congratulations to the winners Kate and Jess. The Fashion Show allowed Girls Tower to experience something that was new to many of the girls, and it is hard to believe that there were so many nerves before the catwalk as they finished the event full of confidence and pride in what they had achieved. And so they should. Their work was fantastic at the Fashion Show, and they should all be very proud. Thank you to everyone who was involved, who organised the event, and for all who attended. Your support means that the Porch Project can continue to work with young people, like those at Girls Tower, so that we as a community can help young people reach their potential and create happy memories that they will share forever. Ebony’s Blog My life at The Shelley Centre What an Autumn we’ve had! My door has been hooked open most of this term, and I have been able to watch all sorts of comings and goings. Our long serving pony, Holly, has been retired, to live with Sue in Polstead and enjoy eating and sleeping to her heart’s content. Two of our very recent additions to the herd were also moved on because they couldn’t really behave the way we expect RDA ponies to; they were nice looking little black chaps, like me, so I was sad to see them go. We have welcomed two new members to the herd, and I’ve been watching them learn the ropes. Alfie is a ‘flea bitten’ grey Connemara fellow who is shaping up well. April is a bay New Forest pony, the perfect size for our 9-12 year old riders. Typical girl, she really likes her leaders to chat her up in the arena. I think Alfie fancies her: he is always looking her way. Both these ponies are hoping to be sponsored, like their stable mates are, so if a kind reader would like to support them in their new work please talk to their Auntie Di on 01473 658552 to discuss a sponsorship contribution. (Makes a nice Christmas present hint hint.) At half term we had to say goodbye to a very special volunteer, Hazel Ormsby. Well she was special to me because she helped my riders in my room every Friday, standing up on the plinth there beside me. With her encouragement some of my riders achieved enough core strength to graduate onto live ponies, so that now I only see them on really wet days. (I can’t mind about that, it’s partly what I’m here for.) Hazel drove here from Bury St Edmunds every Friday and helped with grooming, side walking, teaching and leading. She has helped at RDA centres for thirty years or so, and The Shelley Centre was fortunate to have enjoyed her expertise for the last four of those. Now she feels the drive over here in the winter is just too much (for an octogenarian!) See her leading Camilla in the photo, with a very happy Alexander getting his physiotherapy on Camilla’s comfy padded back. Now we are getting ready for the end of term. Already Margaret has enlisted her cast for the nativity play in Shelley church. Only Squidgy and Camilla ever get to walk there by lantern light with our riders; the rest of us have to make do with a blessing from the Vicar up here at the Centre, but we love seeing the parents and carers being introduced to the whole team. I’ve always wondered why our guests hold plastic cups as they wander round the yard? We shall have a Christmas tree, and tinsel on our stable doors, and pretty lights under the eaves. I’m quite excited just writing about it. So when we close for the school holidays, and some of the herd go off to enjoy themselves with their other families, and some of us stay here and rest, you dear readers have a very happy Christmas, wherever you are. Get on your bike – with a ÂŁ500 grant! Communities, groups, schools and businesses across Babergh and Mid Suffolk are being urged to apply for grant funding to promote a cycling event in their area. Grants of up to ÂŁ500 are available to help support events or activities that involve cycling. Both councils are desperate for communities to apply for the grants and, as the events have to be held before the end of March 2016, they are urging people to get in touch now! To date, several grants have been applied for including successful cycling events being held by Stowmarket Town Council and Kingfisher Leisure Centre in Sudbury. Diana Kearsley (left), Mid Suffolk’s The funding is part of Babergh and Portfolio Holder for Communities Mid Suffolk’s commitment to and Jan Osborne (right), Babergh’s supporting the Suffolk Year of Portfolio Holder for Health, Cycling and to celebrate The Wellbeing and Communities getting Women’s and Men’s Tour flying on their bikes! through the districts earlier this year. It can be used for a various amount of activities or events including running a cycling safety event, a family cycling day or to simply gather cycling enthusiasts together and partake in a day of cycling, amongst other things. So if you and your parish council, voluntary group or school fancy setting up a cycling event or holding a bike safety event in your town, village or community - now is the time to get in touch! Cllr Jan Osborne, Babergh’s Lead Member Health, Wellbeing and Communities, added: “Cycling is one of those sports where there are so many benefits. It’s a brilliant family activity and good for all age groups as well as providing a real boost for people’s physical and mental health. “We would love to have more cycle routes opened up so that more and more people can enjoy safer cycling in a more accessible manner. “But, in the meantime, I know these grants could help schools, businesses or communities to encourage people out and onto their bikes and I’d urge anyone who thinks they may be able to use one to get in touch!â€? Councillor Diana Kearsley, Mid Suffolk’s Portfolio Holder for Communities, said: “The legacy of having two lots of world-class cyclists racing through Suffolk is already evident in the extra numbers of cyclists we are starting to see on our district’s roads already. “We need more people to come forward and apply for our grants so that we can boost this legacy even further and help to make Suffolk’s Year of Cycling even more memorable.â€? For more information about the fund, how to apply and to receive an application form, please contact Jo Beever, Babergh and Mid Suffolk District Councils’ Grants Officer, on 01449 724654 or email: Josephine.Beever@baberghmidsuffolk.gov.uk.

Perils of choosing the wrong Attorney Powers of attorney are a useful means of ensuring that your affairs are properly managed if you lose the ability to do so yourself. However, the decision as to whom you choose to be your attorney is crucial; two recent cases from the Court of Protection highlight the perils of choosing the wrong person. Firstly, a son was found by a judge to have abused his elderly mother’s trust. The 87-year-old mother had been prey to mental health problems for many years after she was widowed and was cared for in a nursing home. She had signed an Enduring Power of Attorney (EPA) which gave her son complete control over her money and property. However, an inquiry was launched by the Office of the Public Guardian (OPG) after the nursing home’s fees fell almost £30,000 into arrears. Her home had been sold for almost £190,000, but the Court of Protection found that her callous and calculating son was more concerned for his inheritance than for her welfare. He had refused to pay for such basic comforts as toiletries and had charged more than £117,000 in out of pocket expenses to his mother’s account. He visited her rarely but had charged £400 for his time on each occasion he did so. He had stated that his mother would die sooner rather than later and had both viewed and treated her money as his own. The Court found that he had flagrantly abused his position of trust. Charging his mother for his visits was nothing short of repugnant. The Court cancelled the EPA and appointed a professional lawyer to serve as the woman’s deputy in place of her son. The second case involved a Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA). The attorney was found by the Court to lack even a basic knowledge of her fiduciary duties as an attorney following a history of making inappropriate purchases and failing to save the Donor’s surplus income for the future. The Court felt that the attorney was behaving in a way which would contravene the Donor’s best interests. They ordered the LPA to be revoked. Interestingly the Court decided that as the Donor expressed her views so strongly as to her choice of attorney whilst she had capacity, they would honour that wish and appoint the attorney as a Deputy under the Court of Protection so they could monitor, assist and support her in her duties. The choice of your attorney is crucial, are your son Oct text:Layout 1 and daughter really up to the challenge? Do they have the necessary time, knowledge and integrity to look after your affairs when you haven’t got the capacity to do so yourself? These recent cases highlight that if in doubt it is often wiser to choose a professional, rather than a family member, to do the job. For more information on Powers of Attorney and the Court of Protection contact Emma Woollard on 01473 298109 or email emma.woollard@gotelee.co.uk

Ken’s SESAW News Suffolk & Essex Small Animal Welfare Reg charity no 1124029 Here we are at the end of another busy year but I'm not dressing up for more photos, even if it is Christmas! I was not impressed when the girls tried to stick a Santa hat on me. That aside, as we approach the festive season I can report sales of our 2016 Calendar are going well and we have enjoyed great support at all our 2015 events. All through the year, lots of lovely people anonymously drop goodies into our collection bins at the Hadeigh Co-Op and Morrisons for all my kennel mates. Others visit SESAW with food and items to use here or sell at our fundraising events. All your gifts are so appreciated and go a long way in the successful running of the Centre. Mum says I mustn't forget to mention the people who arrange the sales to raise funds so that I can go off to the Bahamas - opps! Sorry, I mean to keep the bills paid. And last, but by no means least, are the daily volunteers who turn up regardless of the weather to clean and muck out all the field and kennel animals, leaving them with nice cosy beds. Others don wellies and with poo bags at the ready, ensure all the dogs are walked (except me - I spent a crafty penny indoors and boy, did I get told off!). They come all clean and shiny, by the time they go home you wouldn't want to sit next to them on the bus! A BIG thank you to each and every one of you and to all my ardent admirers, not that I'm big headed you understand, a very happy, healthy Christmas and an even better 2016. Just two important reminders from Mum: Christmas is NOT a good time to introduce a new pet and please remember to give the birds food and clean water. Now I'm going to sneak down the hallway again as I don't like the look of the weather, so it will be another telling off for me, Kenny (the Boss) Chihuahua.

Hadleigh Loyalty Card You will be pleased to learn that the Loyalty Card Scheme will not after all be ending. The Hadleigh Thrift Shop has offered to carry on the scheme in the New Year once it has moved to its new larger premises next door. Please keep your cards and continue to get them stamped. Full details of the new arrangement will be in the January edition of Hadleigh Community News. The winner of the November draw is Mrs P. Scarff. There will be no draw in December.

Cosford Comment ...from Jenny Antill Devolution of power from central government continues to be a hot topic. Last month I wrote about Suffolk’s expression of interest in participating at an early stage in the Government’s devolution offer. Unfortunately, although containing some good proposals, our first approach did not really chime with the Government’s thoughts. It was made to clear that in order to succeed in obtaining devolved powers Suffolk Leaders would need to submit a bid with our neighbouring county Norfolk. This resulted in a joint approach that was presented to Lord Heseltine on 4th November. The Government’s response was reported to be positive, and so a more formal proposal will now be worked up. It remains very uncertain as to how the governance arrangements for any devolution deal will evolve. What is certain is that it is likely to take some months, if not years, to agree. It is worrying however that as things stand at present it is possible to envisage a system that involves no fewer than four levels of local government. It is hard to see how this will save much money! November 16th saw the beginning of a consultation on the future of the Fire Service in Suffolk. Suffolk already has one of the lowest cost and most efficient services in the UK. However the fact is that in the last 10 years the number of 999 calls has fallen by a third and the service must be realigned to reflect this. If you want to participate in the consultation full details are on the consultation pages of the Suffolk County Council website. Finally I would like to wish everyone a very happy Christmas and a healthy and prosperous 2016. Jenny Antill is the Suffolk County Councillor for the Cosford Division. Contact her through the SCC website or through www.jennyantillsblog.blogspot.co.uk

French’s would like to thank all of the people who have helped our animal rescue charity with their donations and support through 2015, we wish you all a Happy Christmas and New year. Sadly very few people come forward and help, but those who do are greatly appreciated and without their donations we would not be able to continue. October brought us another quiz in Boxford and with the smooth running and organisation a great night was had by all who came along to support us. A big thank you goes out to the organisers, Diana and Ian Witts, Mandy and John Flathers, plus Anna and Guy, along with their family members who gave up their time to help. We are all looking forward to the next one in 2016 possibly in Long Melford I am told. French’s will have a stall at the town hall on 6th December for the Christmas street lighting. We will have a treat for all the children in Sophie’s corner, so please do come along and say hello and see what other special goodies we have on offer. We thought you would like to know how our 4 rescued Donkeys have been getting on. Now they have all been seen by the farrier, they can walk properly and the little white donkey pictured in our last news letter, who was crippled and unable to walk because his feet had never been trimmed through neglect, is now running around like a youngster full of life. The photo enclosed is of our big brown donkey called Frankie, he is giving a tender kiss to a little visitor Louie, who is being held by his mum. All 4 donkeys have part of our barn to get under cover from the weather and a small paddock which is adjoined to the barn for them to graze in the day. Donkeys are open to pneumonia or bronchitis if they are subject to rain or cold weather, because their coats are not waterproof like a horse or pony. Rain goes straight through to their skin and chills them through, leading to health problems, so a shelter or covered area of some type is essential for donkeys. All of our horses have rugs on in the winter to keep them warm, but if our horses did not have a rug on and it rained while the weather was mild, they would carry on grazing. So It is funny to watch the donkeys, if it spits of rain even on a mild day, they run at speed for dry cover and stay there till it stops, they know what is best for them that is for sure! As some local people may already know, French’s Farm is up for sale and we have to find a new home/base for our Animal Charity and Care Farm for vulnerable people, our farm helps abandoned, neglected and abused animals and people with confidence problems, low self esteem and learning difficulties. We are looking for somewhere with a minimum of 20-30 acres that has out buildings. We are hoping there is a farm or land owner out there who is either downsizing or likes what we do and wants to support and help us grow. You may not be able to help with a premise, but you may know of someone who can, so please pass the word. Contact Jann on info below. I would personally like to thank Kelvin and Matt for their support and help in spreading the news on what French’s Charity do for the local community and surrounding Suffolk villages, by keeping everyone informed in the their monthly magazines, thank you guys. Frost or no frost I shall cut them back and dig them up in the next day or two. I shall knock the loose soil off the roots and store them upside down carefully labelled in trays in my greenhouse. It is a pity that we cannot reduce the work by leaving the tubers in the ground, but we do not know what the new year will bring, and a prolonged spell of freezing weather would destroy them. I have got one dahlia that I have left in the same place now for three years and it has survived, but I have not been brave enough to try it with my main display. This year there were some beautiful gazanias on sale that some people claim are hardy. I have my doubts and will be lifting half a dozen and putting them in the greenhouse. I believe that they do not mind the cold, but in common with a number of other plants do not like being cold and wet. The weather has got the plants really mixed up. I have a nice very early display of flower on a low hedge of Jasmine nudiflora, and also on my deciduous Viburnum, but there are also primroses flowering next to my dahlias, and my summer flowering campanulas are flowering again. I wonder what surprises 2016 will bring. Weather Records In October at Kersey there was 31 mm (1.2") of rain which is only just over half the average monthly rainfall. The 3 monthly total at the end of October was 134.3 mm (5.3") which is about two thirds of the average figure. In October the maximum temperature was 19 Cel (66F) which is the average figure for the month. The minimum temperature was 4 Cel (39F) which is a one and a half degrees higher than average. Hints In December the popular point of view is that there is nothing to do in the garden, but if you have got a decent sized garden there will almost certainly be jobs that need doing. The exact ones will vary with the garden, but if you grow vegetables and have empty space it will be worth digging it and leaving it fairly rough for the frost to break down. Then we have already had some very strong winds, so it will be worth looking at fences and pergolas to see if they need any repairs. It is easier to see what you are doing in Winter than when they are covered by leafy plants. It is also a good time to look at stakes on fruit trees and roses, and ensure that they have not rotted, and that the ties are not so tight that they are restricting growth. Paths will also benefit from a clean and probably a bit of maintenance. A number of you reading this will be wondering what to give a gardener for Christmas. My suggestions are that you avoid gimmicky tools unless you know that is what he or she wants, and stick to something safe like a Garden Token perhaps supported by a catalogue from your favourite nursery. Wishing all my readers a Happy Christmas and Good Gardening in 2016. John Rye

Muriel ‘Mim’ Munson We would like to thank our dear family and friends for their support, messages and cards after Mum’s passing. Thank you also to everyone who attended her funeral, sent flowers and donations. £434 was raised for Magdalen Resident Fund Trust. Thank you all from the bottom of our hearts. Stoke By Nayland GC Seniors Captain’s Drive In The start to what we are sure will be a very successful and enjoyable year for Stoke Seniors started with the traditional Captains' Drive In on November 9th. It was a pretty dull and windy November day. New Captain, Lionel Hatch, was joined on the first tee by Immediate Past Captain, Peter Garnett and newly elected Vice Captain, Norman Davidson. All three decided to buck tradition by drilling their ball straight down the middle - the Captains' ball travelling 170 yards an excellent result considering the pressure on him to perform, particularly in the face of considerable barracking from the assembled mass of the SBN Seniors. There followed a Stableford competition in which Division 1 was won by Trevor Samways with 38 points and Division 2, by Will Love with 36 points

SNAP is a government funded organisation that can assist you if you find yourself in housing difficulties, are facing eviction or repossession. SNAP has been established since 2008 and offers free housing advice, support and guidance to those who are worried that they may lose their home or are already homeless. Supporting over 380 people at any one time, the only conditions are that you must have a housing need, be able to access public funds, live in Suffolk and are aged 16 or over. SNAP is committed to helping people in Suffolk to maintain their homes and live independently. SNAP is made up of five charitable organisations, Orwell Housing Association, Anglia Care Trust, Ipswich Housing Action Group, Centra, and Family Action. The consortium employs dedicated housing related support workers who work with service users face to face, offer telephone support and run drop-ins throughout the Babergh, Mid Suffolk, Suffolk Coastal, St Edmundsbury, Ipswich and Forest Heath districts of Suffolk. SNAP has found that referrals and the need for housing related support has increased dramatically over the past couple of years, possibly due to reforms in the welfare system. Low income households have faced increased bills in the form of under-occupancy charges (‘bedroom tax’) and council tax bills. In addition, those claiming Job Seekers Allowance often find themselves subject to harsh sanctions which have a knock-on effect on their housing benefit and council tax benefits and can lead to rent arrears. Those with disabilities have faced changes to benefits and have to pass stricter medical assessments in order to claim. This has left many households in the county facing extreme poverty and, in some cases, homelessness. In addition, the current economic climate and the lack of well paid jobs in Suffolk means that more and more people are desperate for social housing but unfortunately there are very few houses available at any one time and this has left many with no option but to rent in the more expensive, and less secure, private rented sector. Other factors which might impact on housing include anti-social behaviour, alcohol or substance misuse, relationship breakdown, domestic abuse and redundancy, all of which can lead to homelessness. SNAP is able to assist those whose housing is at risk, for whatever reason, by working with them to address rent or mortgage arrears and debts, to apply for social housing or look at alternative housing options. Support workers are trained to liaise with landlords and local authorities in order to claim discretionary housing payments and backdated housing benefit if clients are eligible for these. SNAP workers can also provide support with form filling, help set up utilities, maximise income, advise on applicable benefits and offer budgeting and debt guidance. SNAP has had great success in helping service users to avoid eviction and can also signpost those with additional needs, for example mental health issues, severe debts, physical or sensory disabilities and learning disabilities to appropriate organisations who, in many cases, work alongside SNAP to offer a holistic approach. If you, or anyone you know is experiencing difficulties with their housing they can get in touch with SNAP via the referrals team, CARA, on 01473 467727. Everyone who applies will be offered advice on their housing issues. Those deemed eligible for further assistance will receive an individual assessment, followed by short term telephone or face to face support, in order to address their housing needs.

Taking pride in keeping Suffolk safe

SUFFOLK CONSTABULARY Babergh East Safer Neighbourhood Team Darker Nights Leaving your home unlocked, all in darkness and with valuables on view could mean that you end up giving burglars a gift. Don’t make it easy for them. Burglars watch for houses with no signs of life. Leave a light on or better still put your lights on a timer and leave a radio on if you go out during the hours of darkness. Think about the security of your home. Lock up doors, windows and gates. Remember to lock your garden shed and store tools and ladders securely inside: it stops burglars using your tools to break into your house. Motion detecting lighting, trellises at the top of fences, gravel pathways and prickly plants all make a silent and unnoticed approach much harder. We are now well into the run up to Christmas. It is the time of year when we are all thinking of what to get loved ones for gifts, and also a time sadly when opportunist thieves are on the lookout for expensive items that have been left in vehicles. Please make sure you lock any purchases out of sight, preferably in the boot of your vehicle, and when you get home make sure you remove all items and take them inside to remove the risk of your vehicle being broken into. Don’t make life easy for the minority of people who will think nothing of breaking into other people’s property in order to make some fast, simple money. Use timer switches at home to give the impression of someone being in now that the nights are darker sooner. Try not to leave presents wrapped and visible from windows. The less incentive there is, the lower the risk you have of a break in to your property. Also, if you are thinking of making expensive electric purchases, consider marking them with a security pen. We have these available at the Police station if you haven’t got one. Winter Vehicle Maintenance - Check your car Antifreeze – check coolant level regularly and, if required, top-up with a mixture of the correct type of antifreeze. Your garage should check concentration to ensure adequate cold temperature protection. Battery – the most common cause of winter breakdowns. A battery more than five years old may struggle in the cold - get it checked and replaced if necessary to avoid the inconvenience of an unplanned failure. Fuel – keep at least a quarter of a tank in case of unexpected delay. Lights – check and clean all lights regularly to make sure you can see and be seen clearly. Carry spare bulbs. Tyres – should have at least 3mm of tread for winter motoring. Consider winter tyres for improved safety. Check pressures at least every fortnight. Windscreen – reduce dazzle from the low sun by keeping the screen clean inside and out. Now is a good time to renew worn wiper blades. Screen wash – use a 50% mix of a good quality screen wash to reduce the chance of freezing in frosty weather. Locks and door seals – stop doors freezing shut with a thin coat of polish or Vaseline on rubber door seals. A squirt of water dispersant (WD-40) in locks will help stop them freezing. Finally, from all of the officers and staff at Hadleigh Police Station we wish you a very Merry Christmas and a peaceful, prosperous New Year! Mandy Pcso 3108 Coleman

Seeley seals it again at Newton Green An impressive three under par round of 66 has enabled Jed Seeley to retain the junior open championship title at his home club of Newton Green. Seeley, who set a new course record of 63 just over a year ago, registered six birdies and three bogeys - including three putting the final green - as he led home second place Lewis Whiting, of Haverhill. Whiting, who won the competition two Aldous Trophy winners, Harvey Watts, years ago, scored 73. It is Ellie Aldous and Jed Seeley Seeley’s final year as a junior, and although he could now sign up as a Professional Golfers Association trainee with club professional Tim Cooper, he has decided to spend a year improving his status as an amateur. He plays off a handicap of one, and will continue to work in the club shop at Newton. The open attracted the largest field for the Suffolk series of junior events this year, and the home club also won the Aldous Trophy for the top scoring three player team.Winners Harvey Watts, Ellie Aldous and Seeley totalled 107 Stableford points. Individual scores: Division 1 (medal): 67 Sam Nixon, Stoke, 68 Luke Middleton, Ipswich, 71 Alice Barlow, Newton. Division 2 (Stableford): 35 ocb Will Garland, Ipswich, 35 Harry Palmer, Aldeburgh, 34 Kieran Sorrell, Newton. Division 3 (Stableford): 41 Georgia Parker, Bury St Edmunds, 36 Teddy Hall, West Suffolk, 35 Kieran Heard, Newton.
