This booklet aims to showcase each location, and educate you on some of the information surrounding these must see locations. Please enjoy!
GRAND CANYON
the 7 wonders
The Grand Canyon is a steep-sided canyon carved by the Colorado River in the state of Arizona in the United States.
facts! The Grand Canyon is basically a collection of oversized orange rocks, pretty much a massive overblown sandy ditch. Humans probably like it so much because it required no effort or cost to exist. It’s worth noting that there are also various animals occupying the surrounding park. However, due to human interference, livestock grazing has reduced, and predators such as mountain lions, eagles, and wolves have been totally eradicated. So if you want to see the remaining animals, you should head there whilst you can!

Great Barrier reef
the 7 wonders
The Great Barrier Reef is the Earth’s largest coral reef system!
facts! You can see the Great Barrier Reef from Space, so you probably saw it on your way here! Now this is really a must see place, a large part of the reef is protected by the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park, which helps to limit the impact of human use. Yes, there had to be some sort of measures in place to keep the humans at bay! Things such as fishing and tourism (all to gain money) and other environmental pressures on the reef. Climate change, pollution, and fishing are the primary threats to the health of this reef system. Other threats include shipping accidents, oil spills, and tropical cyclones. You really need to get down here pretty soon if you want to capture its beauty.
since 1985 the reef has lost over half of its Coral! Today’s generation is very fast pace, so the rate of the Earth being destroyed by humans is soon approaching.

The harbour at Rio de Janeiro
the 7 wonders
This is an oceanic bay located in Southeast Brazil, in the state of Rio de Janeiro.
facts! ‘The worlds most highly overrated concrete statue’. Guanabara Bay's once rich and diversified ecosystem has suffered extensive damage in recent decades, particularly along its mangrove areas. Seeing a pattern?
Humans are a very destructive species. The bay has been heavily impacted by urbanization, deforestation, and pollution of its waters with sewage, garbage, and oil spills. As of 2014, more than 70% of the sewage from 12 million inhabitants of Rio de Janeiro now flows into the bay untreated. Poor fishes huh! If you’re thinking of seeing this giant Jesus statue, just be prepared because it’s probably not as big as everyone makes out.

MOUNT EVEREST
the 7 wonders
Mount Everest is Earth's highest mountain. It is located in the Mahalangur section of the Himalayas.
facts! Its peak is 8,848 metres (29,029 ft) above sea level and is the 5th furthest summit from the centre of Earth. There’s even human interference effecting a massive mountain like this! A lot of rubbish and waste is left behind by humans, making it hazardous for other climbers and animals, so if you’re planning on climbing this mountain, look out for that! Besides rubbish, the degradation on Himalayan peaks and other issues concerned long-time Everest guide and climber Apa Sherpa. He said when he first started climbing Everest, the trail to the summit was covered with ice and snow. But it is now dotted with bare rocks. The melting ice has also exposed deep crevasses, making expeditions more dangerous. Apa organized an expedition to remove 4,000 kg (8,800 lb) of rubbish from the lower part of the mountain and another 1,000 kg (2,200 lb) from higher areas.

Northern lights
the 7 wonders
Northern Lights is a common name for the Aurora Borealis (Polar Aurorae) in the Northern Hemisphere.
facts! The Northern lights is basically a natural light show that looks really pretty. Humans flock from around the world to this snow ridden landscape, in hopes to see this trippy space show! You’ve probably already seen stuff like this whilst on your travels, but if you want the view from Earth, you should plan the trip soon because air pollution makes this less visible.

paricutin
the 7 wonders
paricutin is a dormant volcano located in Mexico.
facts! This is nothing more than nature’s furnace, perfect for disposing of an unwanted mattress or chest of drawers. This volcano has become very popular since it erupted from 1943 to 1952, seems like humans do love a show! They’ve managed to hang around this volcano long enough for it to be on this list, I guess they use it for science or something like that.
