BrEaD & BuTtEr This season, Bread and Butter Wines of California will be exclusively available at Haggen stores. Produced in small quantities in the Napa Valley, the name is a reference to two wine making elements that combine to produce theses beautifully crafted, crowd pleasing wines. Bread refers to the type, toast and time on oak, a process which imparts unique flavors and aromas, while butter refers to malolactic fermentation, a process that adds buttery flavors and textures in a wine. Bread and Butter Wines: simply wonderful.

ChArDoNnAy TASTES LIKE: This beautiful golden yellow toned wine reveals butter, vanilla oak, and citrus, with delicate notes of melon, lemon peel, and jasmine.

PAIRS WITH:

Yukon Gold Mashed Potatoes Buttery, creamy Yukon Gold mashed potatoes make the perfect accompaniment to any holiday meal. Moist and fluffy!

Apple Waldorf Salad A classic! Diced apples, raisins, red grapes, walnuts and celery in a slightly sweet, creamy dressing.

The creamy richness of our Chardonnay makes this wine an excellent choice to serve with soft, mild cheeses and appetizers at a holiday gathering. It also pairs well with cream sauces, fish and poultry.

PiNoT NoIr TASTES LIKE: This elegant garnet wine is balanced with flavors of black cherry, orange peel and floral tea with hints of mint, toast, and pepper.

PAIRS WITH: Pinot Noir is always a favorite at the dinner table because it’s a lighter, medium-bodied red wine that won’t overpower foods. It pairs well with roasted turkey, ham and other holiday entrées.

In a separate bowl mix flour, salt and baking powder. Slowly add dry ingredients to wet ingredients until well blended. Scrape down bowl and turn dough out onto plastic wrap to form loaf approximately 4" x 12" x 1." Chill dough for several hours until firm…overnight, time permitting. Roll dough on floured surface no less than 1/4" thick. Cut out shapes. Re-form dough from scraps and continue to roll and cut until all dough is gone. Mix dough in a stand mixer. It creams and blends ingredients easier than a hand mixer. Make sure to use enough flour so that dough rolls out at a consistent thickness. Use air-bake cookie sheets.
