BASE CAMP Sustainable sleeping bags and accessories FOR ALL SEASONS.

Take Care To be able to enjoy nature tomorrow, we have to take responsibility in what we are doing today. At Haglöfs, we have great awareness about our impact on both nature and people. By joining bluesign ® and Fair Wear Foundation we have taken two important steps towards a more sustainable business. Our overall sustainability policy is simple: we minimize our negative environmental impact by developing long-lasting products, by using socially responsible manufacturers and by continuously increasing the proportion of recycled and bluesign® approved materials in our products. For us, being a truly responsible brand means integrating sustainability into everything we do. We don’t have a specific eco collection, instead we keep raising the bar throughout all our product segments and throughout the company. It’s important for us to work together with retailers and consumers to raise awareness and set high demands for sustainable products. We are constantly looking for improvement. Our sustainability work is a constant work in progress, but our central premise has always been constant; we make products that last, without any unnecessary environmental impact. To us, sustainability is essential and it is our sincere hope that you think like us – then the difference will be so much more noticeable. If you want to read more about what we do, take a look at our sustainability report.

DOWN CONSTRUCTIONS

DOWN-BOX Down needs to expand and create loft in order to be able to insulate effectively. The box construction features a center wall which ensures that the down is not pressed together.

DOWN-TRAPEZOIDAL The lack of perpendicular angles and the leaning walls in the trapezoidial construction make it almost impossible for the down to be caught and pressed together. Instead the down is distributed optimally, preventing the creation of cold spots.

Standardized temperature test The sleeping bags undergo the EN 13537, a European standard that objectively tests sleeping bags in order to set three temperature limits. These temperature limits are all printed inside our sleeping bags and are the following: T COMFORT This is the lower limit in which a woman could sleep comfortably without feeling cold. (standard woman and conditions apply) T LIMIT This is the temperature in which a man could sleep for 8 hours without feeling cold. (standard man and conditions apply)

T EXTREME This is the lower extreme temperature in which a woman could sleep without risking her health by hypothermia (standard woman and conditions apply)

ADVICE FOR A GOOD NIGHT’S SLEEP You will be sure of a good night’s sleep with the right sleeping bag, but there are more tips for how you can maximize the chances of sleeping comfortably:

Before SLEEP:

Maintain a good fluid balance and keep energy stores filled when it is time to sleep. It is harder for a dehydrated and hungry person to maintain his/her body temperature.

During sleep:

Use a good sleeping mat since much of the cold comes from the ground on which you are lying. Wear a base layer if it is cold and put on socks, gloves and a hat. The clothes you’re wearing during the night should be made of synthetic or wool fabrics as these materials will keep you warm even if damp. Do not dry damp clothing in the sleeping bag. Use a sleeping bag sheet. It increases the temperature level of the sleeping bag by a couple of degrees.

After SLEEP:

Hang the bag to ventilate it and to get rid of all the moist. Then you’ll have a dry sleeping bag for the following night.

BODY HEAT

AIR

SOLATING SLEEPINGMAT

MOISTURE

GROUND COLD

PRE-HEAT YOURSELF When you sleep outside in winter conditions, try to raise your body temperature before going to sleep by performing some light excercises. But don’t excercise too hard as you should avoid bringing too much moisture into the sleeping bag.

PRE-HEAT YOUR SLEEPING BAG Another way to sleep more comfortably during winter is to pre-heat your sleeping bag. Heat some water, pour it into an aluminum bottle and place it in the foot-box of your sleeping bag 60 to 30 minutes before bedtime.

THE SLEEPING BAG – HOW IT WORKS With a well-constructed sleeping bag in the right materials and with the right temperature zone, you have all the prerequisites required for a good night’s sleep in the outdoors. Remember that you heat up the sleeping bag and not the other way around. But it is up to the material and design of the sleeping bag to ensure that heat is retained and that the moisture produced by your body is wicked away. In order for the sleeping bag to function optimally, it is important that you choose the right one based on yourself and the environment you will be sleeping in.

A sleeping bag should have an as optimal a fit as possible in order to avoid any unnecessary heating of air.

DRAFT TUBE/COLLAR

All our sleeping bags are mummy shaped and the silhouette is based on an average sized person lying on their back. All our sleeping bags have individual fits, based on the activities for which they are intended. For example, our warmest sleeping bags have a more generous fit to allow space for extra clothing.

We use as clean and simple fits as possible in order to avoid unnecessary seams or constructions. Each detail is carefully considered so as to optimize its purpose.

Insulation tube to avoid heat loss from the zippers.

Inner adjustable and insulation filled collar to avoid drafts and heat loss.

PILLOW POCKET

FOOT AREA Designed to give the most effective body hugging result as possible. HOOD AREA Designed to give the most effective body hugging result as possible.

Stitched construction for fitting a pillow or similar.

ZIPPERS All our zippers are ergonomically designed and positioned based on varying needs. 1/2 CENTERED

Remember, you’re the heat source

Centered, weight saving and half length zipper. This is the optimal zipper solution when it is extremely cold and you wish to sit inside the bag while you for example cook. 3/4 LEFT AND RIGHT

DIFFERENTIAL CUT Traditional, ergonomically positioned 3/4 length zipper. On the 190 cm long bags you can choose between having the zipper on the left or the right side of the bag. A right and a left hand zipper bag can be zipped together. Differential cut is the difference between the circuit of the outer shell and the inner lining. This solution allows the insulation to loft and perform optimally. This difference varies depending on what type of sleeping bag it is and how much filling it has.

1/4 LEFT

Traditionally positioned 1/4 zipper which saves weight due to its short length. CUTTING MARKS FOR BABY CARRIER

Pavo features cutting marks for fitting a harness. Simply cut along the red seams where the harness of your baby’s stroller fits the best.

3/4 LEFT PLUS 1/4 RIGHT

Two zippers with different lengths. Several zip pullers allow you to both ventilate and have your arms outside of the bag. 3/4 length and 1/4 length zipper.
