Graham rides into the sunset MARATHON EFFORT FOR HOSPITAL CHARITY Graham Flack and firefighters from Ormeau Fire and Rescue
fter nine “bloody hard” A 707km rides to raise money for children who have suffered horrific burn injuries, this year is Graham Flack’s swansong.
“I’ve grown up now, that’s enough for me,” the former fireman and Halcyon Greens’ homeowner Graham Flack laughed. “It was my ninth ride and we’ve raised approximately three-quarters of a million dollars so far.” This time around – after a two year absence due to COVID - Graham exceeded his personal target of $500, raising $674 for the cause. Channel 9 Gold Coast even came along to Pimpama to help him and the fire crew from the local station raise awareness prior to his big ride in Bike 4 Burns, run by the QLD Children’s Hospital.
Starting on 12 May, Graham and other riders from the Fire, Police and Ambulance departments rode each day for a grand total of 707km. The ride went for seven days with no rest, and he was with 37 other riders, all riding to raise money for the charity. Over the course of the week, the riders travelled through towns including Gympie, Murgon, Jandowne, Dalby, Millmerran, Allora, Ipswich and then came into Southbank in Brisbane on 18 May.
